On the Fifth Day of Christmas...   Through Others Eyes   Andrew walked outside the church with Cassie following the Christmas Eve Service, she was visiting for the holidays. She looked at Andrew, “How long have they been back together?” she nodded towards the happy family getting into their car. “Who?” He looked where she was nodding, “Bo and Nora? They’re not together, together, they just found out that Matthew was Bo’s, and they decided to spend the holidays together I guess.” “Really? They’re not back together huh?” She shakes her head, “That’s strange, because, well just looking at them, looking at each other, they look like they are falling in love.” Andrew thought back over the past several months, recalling all the times he had seen Bo and Nora or Bo, Nora and Matthew together, “You know, you're right, I never thought about, because well, Bo is dating Gabrielle, but now that you mention it, Bo lights up around Nora, I just figured it was about Matthew, but maybe its both.” Andrew walking Cassie to her car, she looked up at him as she got in, “Well, if their love is as strong as I think it is, they’ll find their way back, someday.”   Dorian handed David her coat as she walked in the house, “Here let me take that for you.” He rolled his eyes as he went to hang it up. Dorian looked out the French doors, apparently lost in thought, “Dorian, what’s got you so quiet?” “Huh?” She turned to face him, a small smile on her lips, “Did you notice the happy Buchanan family?” “You mean Viki and her kids?” “No.” she shook her head, as she walked over and picked up a picture of Mel. “We got along pretty well the four us, thanks to Mel mostly but still, for a while there, we were almost, almost like friends.” He walked over and put his hands on her shoulders, “Dorian, who are you talking about?” He was still confused. “Bo and Nora, didn’t you see them, there with that darling little boy of theirs. I’m really happy for them, they seem to be working things out.” He shook his head at her, “You realize he is still with Gabrielle don’t you?” She laughed, “David darling, Bo Buchanan is as stubborn as they come, and when,” she got quiet and a sad look crossed over her face, acknowledging her part in the deceit. “When?” David prompted. “When things happened between them, that man lost his heart, his way…but I think he’s on his way to finding it again, there was a sparkle in his eyes tonight with his family, I don’t even think he’s aware of it, but soon……”   Vicki sipped her eggnog as she watched them enter Asa’s house, shaking off the snow. Renee walked up behind her, “They look good together don’t they?” She turned to look at her, “They look,” she paused, looking back over at them, “right, they fit, you know?” Renee just shook her head, “That they do darling, that they do.” “Where’s Gabrielle?” “Bo said that celebrating the holidays was to hard for her because of Al, but he couldn’t disappoint Matthew.” She nodded towards the family as they made their way to the couch. “And Nora?” “She’s Matthew’s mother, that’s what Bo says anyway,” they gave each other knowing grins, as Sarah makes her way over to her aunt and grandmother. “What are you two smiling about?” They looked over at Bo and Nora, listening intently to whatever it was Matthew was telling them. “She’s in love with him you know?” Sarah said, wistfully. “I don’t think she’s ever not been in love with him, “ Sarah looked at Renee, “What do you mean?” “Well darling, in a lot of ways those two are Asa and I all over again, the difference is Bo is a quieter version, he hides his pain, but stubborn, he is all Buchanan in that department. If it weren’t for that stupid Buchanan pride, they would be together right now.” “You really think so?” Sarah asked. Vicki answered, “Yes, dear, that look in Nora’s eyes, whenever she looks at Bo and he’s not looking, she loves that man just as much as she ever did,” she looked over at her then, she was stealing a look at Bo who was tickling Matthew, a smile played on her lips, a twinkle in her eyes, “I take that back, she’s more in love with him now, now they share a son.” “Hear hear.” Renee raised her glass to Vicki’s…”He’ll open his heart again, and he’ll let the greatest love he’s ever known back in, any day now, any day…..”   Asa walked over to where Clint was standing, “Son, I’m glad you came for Christmas, it’s good to have you hear.” He patted his father’s back, “It’s good to be here,” his eyes were on his “little” brother playing with his nephew. A smile spread across his face, “He’s really happy isn’t he?” Clint asked. “Are you kidding, he’s on Cloud 9, well cloud 9 for Bo, you know how that is.” They laughed…..”He still loves her doesn’t he Pa?” Asa looked at Bo watching Nora as she explained something to Matthew, a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, “Oh yeah, he loves her, but he’s not willing to admit it……yet.”   Matthew was sitting on the couch between his parents, he looked between them one last time and took a deep breath, Starr said that she could see it too, the way they looked at each other, they way they smiled, and laughed, but he needed to point it out to them, that’s what she said she had to do with her parents, NOT that they were any great example but maybe…..Bo and Nora watched the expressions play across Matthew’s face, then looked at each other confused, “What is it champ?” “Dad, mom” they looked at him expectantly, “remember you told me about how you loved each other but things happened and that’s why your not together anymore?” HE looked at them, both wearing shocked expressions, they really were not expecting this, especially tonite of all nights, it was Christmas Eve after all. “Well, what I want to know is, when did you stop?” “Stop what sweetie?,” Nora asked playing with her hands. “When did you stop loving each other?” Nora looked at Bo, who was just staring at her, she saw it then, the look, ‘her’ look, her breath caught in her throat, she was unable to speak, he spoke first, “I didn’t.” as she heard his words, shock spread across her face, “Me either.” And then, all the eyes on the room, were on the couple, as they forgot they were not alone, she placed a hand on his cheek, as he reached up to wipe the tear that had escaped from her eye, “I’ve never stopped loving you Nora Buchanan” he whispered as he leaned forward and gently placed a kiss on her lips…..”Me either.” She whispered as she leaned her forehead against his, “You’re still my heart Bo Buchanan, you always have been, you always will be.”   “Well it took you long enough.” Asa’s voice started them out of their trance, and they became aware of the other’s in the room. Bo stood up and held his hand out to Nora, she took it and embarrassed stood beside him.   “What are you talking about Pa.” “Everyone else has seen it for months,” Nora looked at him confused, “Seen what Asa?” “We’ve been watching you fall in love….” Sarah chimed in, “Or maybe” Renee continued, “Watched you remembering…” Vicki continued, “either way, it’s nice to see…” Clint finished, “that you’ve finally opened up your eyes.”   Happy Holidays!
