Deep in the Heart of Texas - The Sequel - Part 2
N: Bo, I'm not happy.
Bo's face turned ashen when he heard the words. His eyes shot open and he tried to find her gaze. At first he thought he was dreaming. But it was very real. She was still lying on the floor, her eyes staring at the clouds painted on the ceiling. Bo tried to remain calm. He got up and put Rebecca back in her crib.
B: What do you mean, Nora? (Trying to hide the fright in his voice)
N: I'm not happy here.
She rose from the floor and took his hand and led him to their bedroom.
At first he thought she meant she wasn't happy lying on the floor, but he knew that was wrong. His mind was playing tricks on him. He couldn't focus his thoughts on what she was saying.
Starting to panic, he pelted her with questions.
B: I don't understand. What do you mean? You're unhappy with me? With the house? The kids? What?!? Tell me!
Nora realized how her words must have sounded to him. She felt terrible and tried to explain.
N: Oh my god, Bo!!! NO!! I'm sorry that's not what I mean at all!! Believe me. I'm sorry, I'm just so exhausted that I don't realize half of what I'm saying most of the time.
She took him in her arms and tried to give him reassuring kisses. He was still hesitant.
B: You still haven't told me what you mean.
N: Come with me. (She pulled him down on their bed)
B: Nora.
She wrapped her arms around him, causing him to hug her back.
N: I'm not happy here in Llanview. I miss Texas.
With a sense of relief washing over him, he feels her forehead.
B: Are you sure you're feeling all right? (He laughs) Are you really Nora Hanen Gannon Buchanan, hot shot city girl lawyer from Chicago who misses Texas??
N: I'm serious. I miss that glorious house! I miss the blue, open skies. I miss the horses. I miss the jukebox.
B: Red, we can buy a jukebox. I can't believe what I'm hearing!
N: I don't know what it is. That ranch will forever hold a special place in my heart......I miss the hot tub.
B: We have a hot tub, right there in our own bathroom (he points to the bathroom door), which we have tried to use on many romantic occasions. Usually doesn't happen, but we have one!
N: But, it's not the same one where you touched me again after so many years apart.
Bo was finally catching her drift. He kissed her.
N: I miss your mustache.
Bo laughed out loud.
B: I see. Look, I can grow another mustache, which you shaved off me, by the way. You're feeling sentimental right now. I understand that honey, but what do you want me to do? Do you just want to pack everything in and move to Texas?
N: Yes.
B: Yes? Nora, where is this coming from?
N: Well, I've been keeping my feelings to myself, Bo. I haven't been happy for awhile. The business is floundering. I'm kind of bored. Matthew hasn't stopped talking about the ranch since we came back - a year ago! You just seemed so happy, I never said anything.
Bo scratched his head.
B: Well, I am happy. I guess I never thought about it. (He shrugged his shoulders) I mean I do love our life here. Our new house. The kids are doing great. I had no clue you were dissatisfied. You should have told me.
N: Lately I've been thinking of the day I first saw you again in that bar and yeah, I've been feeling overly sentimental. Plus, having a baby throws your hormones for a loop. I can't help it. I miss it!
B: I love your hormones. (He starts to kiss her neck)
N (laughing): Yeah right! Bo, I'm serious.
B: We could go for a visit.
N: Oh, I think that would only make things worse for me. I'd never want to leave.
B: You really are serious about this, aren't you?
N: Yes, I am.
B: Oh man! What about the agency? What happened to not wanting to be a rancher's wife? What would we do? What about Matt and school and his friends?
N: I don't know! I haven't thought that far in advance yet. We can work it all out. What do you say?
B: You're just mad at me because we named the agency the B&N Detective Agency instead of N&B, aren't you?
Nora laughed.
N: I wish it were as simple as that!! I still like N&B better.
B: No way! B&N rolls off the tongue more easily.
N: Well, it's not rolling off anyone's tongue....no one calls us!!
B: Oh.....That was low. (He laughs)
N: I only speak the truth. Look, now that I've told you how I'm feeling, let's sleep on it and talk about it in the morning.
B: It is morning.....4:30. And sorry, I can't let you sleep. We finally have some free time on our hands!!
N: Well, so far your hands haven't moved anywhere.
B: Now, see, you shouldn't have said that.
He starts to run his hands over her body, tickling her, touching her, removing her nightgown.
Nora erupted into bouts of giggling and murmuring his name. She returned his touches and kisses and off they went!
