Deep in the Heart of Texas - The Sequel - Part 7
N: Melanie?!? What the hell does she want? What does it say?
Bo proceeded to read the letter:
Hi, Bo. It's me, Melanie. I'd like to see you. I want you to visit me here at Statesville. I know I ruined your life. I want to see you. It's important.
B: That's it?!? I can't believe this! I don't want to see her.
N: Then don't.
B: What could be so important?
N: I'm sure it's nothing. She's probably trying to get under your skin. I'd like you back under my skin, if you're catching my drift.
Bo couldn't resist her. He dropped the letter to the floor, took her hand and they walked to their bedroom. They closed the blinds, put on some soft music and started to undress each other.
N: Oh my gosh! We forgot about Rebecca!!
B: Honey, shhhh. We've got the baby monitor on. She's fine. Now where were we?
N: Bo, I'm such a terrible mother! I'm so into you right now that I forgot about my own daughter.
B: You're really wrecking the mood here, Nora.
N: Bo! This isn't funny! Besides, Matthew will be home in a little while. Mrs. Jackson is dropping him off. What is wrong with us? Sometimes we just act like teenagers!
Bo sighed and rubbed his five-o-clock shadow he needed a shave. He sat up and looked at her. She was getting dressed again. He was bummed.
B: Nora, we are two normal, healthy adults who love each other immensely and we like to show it. We also have two kids, which means we don't get to 'show it' as much as we'd like to or used to, for that matter. We have to take opportunities when we have them. That's all. We're not bad parents. Got it?
Nora sighed too, then she laughed.
N: You are so right. I'm sorry. See....that's why we need this vacation. I think we'd have lots of free time for ourselves. The kids will be so knocked out from the daytime activities, that we'll have the nights all to ourselves.
B: I'll call Dody to let him know we're coming down.
N: Thank you, sweetie. It's pizza night; I'll call Sal's.
Matthew could hardly contain himself when his parents told him they were going to the ranch for a vacation. He was telling Rebecca all about the place, but she just stared at her brother, laughing occasionally as he made more animal sounds.
In the days that followed, the Buchanan family was getting excited for their trip. However, Melanie's letter could not escape Bo's mind. He had made the decision to visit her at Statesville. Now he had to tell Nora.
