Accidental Kiss - Short Story   "C'mon mom and dad!" Matthew was yelling at his parents as he ran into his grandfather's stable, he had a plan and it had better work, he was getting tired of waiting!(Aren't we all LOL) "We're coming Matthew!" turning to Nora,"that kid has an awful lot of energy." "Tell me about," she laughed, "of course he is running empty handed, while you and I are carrying everything." "True," he added laughing. "Are you sure you are up to this,"hesitating,"after all you've never really ridden by yourself before." "Bo, I'll be fine, you need to ride with Matthew, anyway Renee said Vegas Baby was gentle." "That's true, but Renee has been riding horses for years." "BO!" He held his hands up. "Okay, sorry I asked." He proceeded into the stable where Matthew was giving the horse a sugar cube. He turned to look at his parents, "'bout time." "Hey, mister, you better watch that mouth or we won't be riding anywhere," Bo turned to Nora and whispered, "he's been spending too much time with Starr." "Yeah, maybe he has." "Sorry, dad I'm just excited, this is my first horse ride with you AND mom." "It's okay Matthew, just tone it down, okay?" Bo ruffled his hair. "Yes, sir." He hung his head as he blew a bubble. Bo packed the saddlebags with their picnic lunch while Nora packed the blankets in hers. Looking at her, "All set?" "Looks like it." Nora stared at the stirrup, then at her foot, then back at the stirrup. Walking towards her, "Need a hand?" He offered his handout to her. "Uhh," looking again at the horse, "yeah if you don't mind." "Not a problem." Bo gave Nora a hand as she pulled herself into the saddle. Matthew was smiling as he stood next to the horse he was riding on. 'Oh, yeah,' thought, 'today is going to be a good day.' They rode out by the stream that went through Asa's property. Matthew ran over to help Nora get off her horse. He held his hand out to her as she pulled herself out of the stirrups and jumped down. "Why thank you, kind sir." She leaned down and kissed him. Bo was busy unpacking lunch as Nora pulled the blankets out and laid them on the ground. Nora laughed as she looked at the menu, "Pizza, Chili Dogs, Cheez Doodles, Root Beer and Chocolate Pudding?" She shook her head. "What?" Bo and Matthew asked together. "We really need to start eating healthier," She mumbled as she took a bite of pizza, "tomorrow though." Bo and Matthew laughed at her as they dug into their lunch. After lunch Matthew grabbed their hands and drug them down to the stream to skip rocks and scare the ducks. "Matthew Buchanan, leave the ducks alone." Nora yelled at him. "Aww mom," She rolled her eyes. Just then Bo skipped a huge rock right into the middle of a bunch of ducks, sending them all flying, Matthew started cracking up as Nora glared at Bo. "What?" he just looked at her. She threw her hands up in the air, "I give up!" She went back to the blanket and laid down, watching Bo and Matthew continue to play, she had a smile on her face. Bo looked back a couple of times to check on her. She would just wave and he would go back to Matthew, as the sun started to set she came back down to the water to find them. They were looking intently at the water, she walked up behing them quietly, "Whatcha lookin' at?" Bo jumped grabbing his heart. Matthew scowled at his mom. "You scared the turtles mom!" "Sorry." "Forget the turtles, you almost killed me, sneaking up on us like that!" She laughed as she lifted her hand to touch his face, caught what she was doing and pulled it back down. Bo noticed the gesture but ignored it, much safer that way. Matt noticed too as he blew another huge bubble. "Sorry, I think it's time we get going." She pointed to her watch. "You are probably right." Bo and Matthew headed back up to the picnic site with Nora, they packed up their things and as Bo went to help Nora get on the horse, Matthew yelled, "I'll help her!" "How about we both help her?" Bo walked over to Matthew as Nora went to pull herself up on the horse, "You steady that stirrup for her." "Okay," he grabbed the stirrup with a big Bo Buchanan grin, sliding his piece of bubble gum between her boot and the stirrup. Bo helped Nora on the horse and they rode back to the stable. As soon as they got the horses to the stable, Matthew whined, "I gotta use the bathroom!" Bo helped him off the horse and he took off, right inside a stall out of sight of his parents. Bo looked at Nora, "He is your son all right!" Nora shot Bo a look, "Watch it Mister!" She went to get off her horse, "Here, let me help you." He walked toward her holding his hand out. "I can manage thank you." Matthew was watching as he threw another piece of bubble gum in his mouth, "Just a matter of time." Just as she was about to jump to the ground, she realized her foot was stuck in the stirrup, Bo moved forward just in time to catch her in his arms, they could feel their hearts beating, Nora lifted her head as Bo moved his to check on her and their lips touched. They both jerked back. Looks of shock, fear, lust, and then long hidden feeling of love were in their eyes as Bo held her, then they smiled as they went to kiss each other again. "Oh yeah, just a matter of time!" Matthew said as he headed out of the stable.
