All Over Again
Chapter Eight
Chicago, Illinois
Selma Hannen walked hand in hand with her dark haired, blue-eyed grandson Matthew Rappaport into the park down the street from her and Lens apartment building. Selma waved at some of her friends sitting on a nearby bench. Matthew tugged at her skirt and she kneeled down to his level.
Yes Matty?
Matthew pointed to a group of little boys playing kickball that Selma recognized as her friends grandsons. Can I go play ball with those boys, Nana?
Selma smiled. Go ahead but be careful.
I will be, Matthew yelled as he headed to the group and Selma joined her friends on the park bench.
The ladies started gossiping immediately and it was five minutes before Selma thought to check on Matthew. She scanned the group of little boys for her grandson and felt panic begin to churn in her stomach when she couldnt find him. Her panic turned to fear when she heard the sound that no parent or grandparent ever wants to hear.
SSSCCCRRREEEEEEECHHH!!! The sound of tires skidding along the pavement seemed to scream through the neighborhood.
Selma immediately shifted her glance from the group of boys to the street in front of the park. The entire park was filled with silence except for the sound of a ball as it finished bouncing across the street and hit the brick building across from the park and Selmas screams filling the air.
MATTHEW!!!!

Took some time to come around
Realized how I let you down
Its too late for sorry now
My pride got in the way
I thought I had it all figured out
I needed time away to work it out
Now that I found what its all about
All I need is you in my life
Bo opened his eyes and quickly squinted trying to block out the mid-day sun. Once his eyes had adjusted he opened them again and tried to get his bearings. He tried to sit up when he realized he couldnt. He looked down and smiled. Nora was conked out on the blanket next to him her head resting on his chest.
He looked at his watch and smiled. They must have been sleeping for hours on that blanket. Bo ran his hand down Noras arm and sighed. It felt so right. Just being there with her like that.
Suddenly, Nora shifted in her sleep and wound up rolling halfway on top of him, her hand slung across his chest and her leg wrapping around his own. Her hand made its way up his neck and into his hair causing Bo to shiver despite the warm breeze.
Bo, Nora mumbled in her sleep and started kissing his neck.
Bo closed his eyes tightly and groaned. The sound was enough to awaken Nora and she looked down in embarrassment when she realized the position they were in.
Bo ran a hand through her hair. You know, youre killing me here Red.
Nora shot up, untangling their legs in the process. Oh God Bo, I am so sorry.
Its ok Red, Bo replied as Nora stood and started to walk away. Hey, where are you going?
I just need some air.
So Im Coming Back Home
Home, where love is waiting for me
Been gone much too long
This is where I want to be
So, Im coming home, coming home
Cause home is where I belong
Ten minutes later
Nora was sitting next to the creek, her eyes closed, her face to the sun. She took a deep breath and savored the smell of clean water, sage and bluebonnets. She startled slightly when she felt him set down on the ground next to her and placed a hand on her back.
You ok?
She opened her eyes and looked at him. Im fine. I dont know what got into me. I think maybe it was just too much like old times. Me waking up in your arms. I had forgotten how much I missed it.
Ive missed it too. Ive just missed you. Everything about you. I know Ive made mistakes. Ive made big ones but that doesnt alter the fact that I love you. I have loved you for as long as I can remember and I will always love you. No matter what.
Nora smiled sadly. I cant help but wonder if its enough. Our love wasnt enough for you to not walk out on us when things got rough.
But dont we deserve that second chance?
Nora looked at Bo and shrugged before looking out at the creek. Bo sighed and stood up. He held his hand out to her and she took it, allowing him to pull her up into a standing position next to him.
Cmon, Bo said. We have work we need to get finished.
Somehow I lost my way
Mistakes I made, I have to pay
It hurts so much still today
That I wasted so much time
And after all is said and done
Theres more to life that having fun
Have no doubt, youre the one
And all I need is you in my life
Bo had walked ten steps in front of Nora the whole way from the creek back to their picnic site under the huge oak tree. Once there he started packing away the left over food from the picnic while she hung back and watched. She noticed how strong his hands were and how the muscles in his forearm tightened with every movement. How the lines of his face were so defined and how vibrant his eyes were. And as the sun shone through the limbs of the tree and illuminated his hair she realized once again how much she did love him.
She slowly walked over to him and placed an hand on his shoulder causing him to look up at her. Bo
Whats up Red?
Youre right. I think we do deserve that second chance.
Just to be in your arms
Is like heaven to me
Your love, your love
Is all that I need
So, Im Coming Back Home
And I hope youll forgive all my wrongs
So, Im coming home, coming home
Cause home is where I belong
Bo stood and placed his hands on either side of her neck before leaning in to kiss her lightly. He pulled away and ran his hands down her neck, across her shoulders and down her arms. He took her hands and placed them on his chest before reaching up and fumbling with the buttons of her shirt. She dropped her hands when he slid the shirt off her shoulders allowing him to slip it off her and drop it on the ground behind them.
Noras hands found their way to the waistband of Bos jeans and tugged on his navy t-shirt. She pushed it up and over his head, tossing it aside before running her hands back down his chest. She pulled them away long enough to slip the white tank top she had been wearing over her head revealing the sheer white bra she wore underneath leaving little to the imagination. She stepped closer to Bo and wrapped her arms around his waist pulling him closer. Both moaned when bare skin seared against bare skin.
Bos mouth found hers and kissed her frantically, unable to get enough of her. Her lips separated and Bos tongue quickly found its way into her mouth. Nora clutched at him for support, her nails digging into his back. Bo pushed the straps of Noras bra off her shoulders before lowering his hands to her lower back to help support her as he laid her back on the quilt.
So Im Coming Back Home
Home, where love is waiting for me
Been gone much too long
This is where I want to be
So, Im coming home, coming home
Cause home is where I belong
The sun was quickly dropping in the sky streaking the horizon with colors of pink and purples that can only be seen in south Texas. The impending darkness meant nothing to Bo and Nora. They were to caught up in each other. Caught up in kissing, touching, caressing.
Their boots and jeans had been tossed into the pile with their other clothes and Nora was just about to slip Bos boxer shorts off of him when the loud, shrill ringing of her cell phone pierced the quiet. Nora pulled away and dropped her head to Bos chest with a sigh. Bo propped himself up on an elbow.
You brought your cell phone? Why the hell did you bring your cellphone?
Nora laughed. Because, I was afraid we might get out here in the middle of nowhere and get lost. I wanted to be able to get in touch with civilization.
Dont answer it.
I have to Bo. Nora pulled away from him and grabbed her jeans pulling the cell phone out of the pocket.
And things were going so well.
Poor baby, Nora replied before answering her phone. Nora Buchanan.
Yes, home is where I belong
