Alone at Last....................part 1
Bo and Nora were back together. It didn't take much - just 3 years, 5 months and 2 days of agony, but hey, who was counting?!
One day Bo came home with a surprise for Nora. He couldn't
wait to show her. She was in her office trying to finish up a
case she had started months before and didn't hear Bo come in.
Bo: Hey!
Nora: Bo! You scared the pants off me!
Bo: Well, not quite, but it's a thought.
Nora: In your dreams commish. So... what's in your pocket? or
are you just happy to see me?
Bo: I have something for you
Nora: I'll say
Bo pulls out a thick envelope from his jacket pocket and plonks
it on her desk
Nora opens the envelope and stares at him: Tickets to Tahiti?
Iiii don't think so Bo
Bo: But Nora, we need to get away. We talked about this last night
Nora: Away, yes. Tahiti, no way.
Bo looked confused: Come on, it'll be great. White sandy beaches,
warm romantic nights
Nora: I'm not going to Tahiti Bo, anywhere but Tahiti.
Bo: Wow, what did Tahiti ever do to you?
Nora: Well if you really want to know, Sam wanted to take me there
- twice. I get a big ole knot in the pit of my stomach when I
think about it. Let's pick somewhere else.
Bo: Of all the places I could pick!
Nora: You weren't to know - but I do like the idea of somewhere
far away, somewhere exotic with no phones, no one who knows us.
Just you and me, alone. (She stands up and kisses him)
Bo: Hold that thought. I'm going out to exchange them right now,
before you change your mind. Nora: Wait! Where are we going to
go?
Bo: Fiji?
Nora: Oooo I like that! (Bo draws her into a big passionate kiss)
And that too!
2 weeks later
Nora: Now Rachel, if you run into any problems don't forget,
you can call Renee or your dad
Rachel: Let's see, is that the 100th or 1000th time you've told
me that?
Nora: And make sure Matthew gets to bed early.
Rachel: Momma, we've been all through this. You're only going
to be gone for 2 weeks. I can handle it
Nora: And if he gets sick
Rachel: Momma!
Nora: I know, I know.
Rachel: Bo is waiting momma, it's time for you to say goodbye
and get the heck out of here
Nora: Matthew, you be good for Rachel
Matthew: Rachel and me are gonna stay up late and watch videos
and eat a bunch of candy and...
Nora: I'm not going
Rachel: Say goodbye Matthew
Matthew: Bye mommy. Bring me a big present, k?
Nora gives Rachel and Matthew a kiss and a hug and slowly walks
out the door
Over the Pacific
Bo: 15 hours on the plane. What was I thinking?
Nora: At least you can sleep
Bo: I haven't even shut my eyes
Nora: Right! Is snoring while awake a new trick? And why would
they show this movie - all I need to watch is some plane lost
at sea... who picks these?
Bo: You can change the channel you know - we each have our own
screen so we can pick what you want - there, channel 6 - a Harrison
Ford movie
Nora: I knew that (sheepishly changing to 6)
(Nora slunk down and put her head on Bo's shoulder and before
long they were both fast asleep)
FA: Here's the lunch menu, what would you like?
Nora waking up with a start: What the heck... I mean, ummm the
fish please. (She pokes Bo in the ribs) What would you like dear?
Bo tries to stretch out his cramped muscles: A bed... the steak
would be fine thanks.
The flight attendant passes out the meals and fills their wine
glasses before she leaves
Bo hold up his glass and smiles as he looks at Nora: To a wonderful
romantic getaway with my one true love
Nora: I thought there was just going to be the two of us (she
laughs and kisses him) To you and me and long warm romantic nights,
and mornings, and afternoons and...
Bo: Love you Red
Nora: Love you too Commish
The Royal Palm Resort, Fiji
Bo and Nora were taken to their own cottage on the estate. It was located away from the hustle bustle of the hotel and totally shaded by the surrounding palms. A warm breeze from the water filtered through the open shutters and there was a porch off the living room that led down to the beach. It was everything they had imagined. It even had a kitchen - ha!
They ordered a couple of bottles of wine and shared one
on the porch while watching the sun set over the water.
Nora: Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?
Bo looked at Nora and reached out to touch her cheek: I have...
very beautiful.
He stood up and took her hand and led her to the bedroom. The
first of one of those long romantic nights they had promised each
other.
The next few days were spent alone in the cottage or walking hand in hand along the beach. The wounds of the past few years disappeared being replaced by feelings of love and contentment- something neither one thought they would ever feel again. Sometimes this feeling was so strong that it brought tears to Nora's eyes which Bo acknowledged silently by kissing away the tears and holding her tightly. Love and contentment.
One day Bo came back from an early morning beach walk and
found Nora still asleep in bed
Bo: Wake up sleepy head
Nora: Yea, oh, I'm awake
Bo: We're going sailing
Nora: Excuse me?
Bo: Sailing, you know, small boat, big sheet, wind
Nora: I think you've got the wrong cottage
Bo: Nope. Red, you and I are going sailing today. I just rented
a little beauty and they're gonna stock it with a picnic lunch.
We'll take it over to one of those little islands we saw from
the plane, remember?
Nora: Sailing? On the water?
Bo: That's the plan. Come on honey, you'll love it
Nora: Why does this remind me of our fishing expedition?
Bo: No fishing, I promise. Just a little jaunt over to a secluded
beach. That's right, out of bed. Put on a swim suit and bring
a cover up and hat - and we will be there before you know it.
Bo was singing to himself as he got himself ready. Nora went into
the bathroom and looked into the mirror. " This is crazy....crazy....this
is just crazy!"
Nora was surprised at how easily Bo manouvered the sailboat.
He was following the map that the guy had given him and was doing
a fine job. Nora sat back and actually relaxed, soaking up the
sun, feeling the wind blow through her hair
Bo: Great huh?
Nora: I can't believe it. It really is!
Bo: We should be there in about half an hour
Nora: Take your time. Take the long route
Bo chuckled to himself - what a woman!
Nora looked back and got a little nervous when she couldn't see land anymore. Bo looked in the opposite direction and got a little nervous when he saw the black threatening clouds quickly coming their way.
To be continued
