... And Ever

Hey everyone!! Hope you all are enjoying the FF fest!!! I know I am!! I submitted one earlier called "Hold Me Forever," this one is another take on the same story, only this time it's seen from Bo's point of view. I hope you enjoy!!
***********
Bo couldn’t take it anymore. Did he carry a sign around his neck begging all the lying, scheming women in Llanview to seek him out? Gabrielle was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He couldn’t even stand to look in her face. Reaching for his front door, he asked her to find other living arrangements by the time he returned and he slammed the door closed behind him.

The cool night air helped to calm his anger as he slowly walked to the park. While he walked along the city streets, people busily rushed past him, each oblivious to the pain this lone man was suffering. He kept his eyes cast down, hands in his pockets, and hoped that he could make it to the park without being spotted. He stood on the street corner, waiting for the horse drawn carriage to pass, the loving couple enjoying their tour of Llanview at night.

He sighed heavily as the traffic light finally changed and he crossed to the park. He needed to find a place where he could be alone to think. His life was out of control and he had to figure out how he was going to rein it in.

The park seemed abandoned except for a couple enjoying hamburgers at one of the picnic tables. He found a bench nestled in a small cove of bushes and sat down hard, mentally exhausted and leaned back; looking up into the evening sky. When had everything gone so badly for him, he wondered?

He knew the answer to his question and as it came to him, he closed his eyes and sighed, “Nora…” the sound of her name on his lips brought a smile and the rush of memories that flooded gave him a sense of calm.

“I miss you, Red…” he said quietly. It was at that very moment that he recognized the voice coming from the other side of the bushes.

He marveled at the coincidence that they would both be in the park, in the same spot, at the same time. He quickly realized that she sounded distraught, but he didn’t feel like he was in a position to interfere.

He stood, intending to leave her alone when he heard his name being mentioned. It sounded like such a desperate plea for help; he just couldn’t turn away. He stepped around the bushes and saw her sitting there, his heart breaking as he watched her rock back and forth, tears streaming down her face.

“Red???” he said, fighting the urge to run to her, and she quickly looked up, squinting trying to make him out in the darkness. The look of realization crossed her face and she quickly wiped at her tears, hoping he hadn’t seen or heard her cries.

“Bo?” she said, putting on a cheerful face, but he wasn’t fooled. He had seen her try to hide her feelings so many times before.

He desperately wanted to pull her up and take her in his arms, would he ever be able to get over his need for her, he asked himself as he stepped closer. She quickly looked away but he could see the tears falling.

“Mind if I sit?” he asked and didn’t wait for her to come up with some excuse. She obviously felt uncomfortable by his nearness, but they had been too far apart for far too long. Enough was enough and she was obviously hurting.

As he took his seat, she sat forward unable to look him in his eyes. He frowned and stopped his hand just short of stroking the back of her hair. He, instead, put his arm on the back of the bench and pretended to be “casual ole Bo,” but he needed to know what had happened to the love of his life.

They had both taken so many different paths and he shook his head as he realized this final path had led them here.

“Nora??” he finally said after watching her struggle to keep her emotions under control. When she turned her tearful eyes to look at him, his own eyes began to burn. He frowned slightly as he struggled to keep his own feelings in check, “You need help,” he was finally able to say, “I’m here if you need me.”

He could tell she was at the brink—to stay and face her fears or stand and search for another path to take. He lovingly squeezed her shoulder and this touch seemed to help her make her decision. He slowly pulled her to him to comfort her and she reached around him and closed the distance between them with a desperate embrace.

This was not good, Bo knew right away. She never admitted to needing anyone, but her hold on him told him she needed only him.

“Nora, Honey??” he inquired as she cried into his neck, Bo’s heart raced. She wouldn’t relax her hold and he wanted to gather her up into his arms and cradle her, but he needed to know what was wrong. He pulled her away to look into her eyes.

The rage that flooded him could hardly be suppressed as he realized someone had hurt the woman he loved more than life. It wasn’t going to be easy to get her to talk, but he knew she’d have to recount the evening to put it in the right perspective.

Bo sat and listened as she painfully relived her evening. MacIver had actually attacked her in her own bedroom. “He would pay,” Bo growled to himself, “He would pay!”

She was mentally drained as she quickly rose from the bench. Bo frowned, wanting her beside him… Needing her beside him. As he started to stand, she stopped him.

“Please Bo… don’t feel sorry for me…” she quietly pleaded.

How could she possibly think he felt pity for her? Didn’t she know?? Couldn’t she feel how much he loved her?? “I don’t feel pity…” he tried to impress upon her, “What I feel in here isn’t pity, Red,” he said as he stood, his hand over his heart. He closed the distance between them and reached up to wipe away a stray tear. “It’s love…”

She loved him, he could tell immediately as the look on her face softened and she reached up to touch his lips. “Kiss her! Kiss her NOW!” his heart told him, her touch putting all his senses on full alert.

“I love you, Bo,” he heard her say through the pounding in his chest.

“Kiss her!! Kiss her NOW!” his heart continued to yell at him.

He pulled her to him and kissed her passionately, her arms circling his neck as her body was crushed against his. His mind swirled as his lips traveled down the curve of her neck, his hands pulling her to him tighter.

“I don’t ever want to let you go,” he sighed.

“Hold me forever, Bo,” she sighed, her fingers interlaced in his hair, “Please… Just hold me forever…”

He slowly raised up and looked into her passion-filled eyes. “I’ll hold you forever, Red. Forever… and ever.” His face lowered to hers and once again he listened to his heart, “Kiss her! Kiss her NOW!”

The End.
