At Last – Part 15
Last Time:
Bo kisses her quickly. Selma finally figures out what is going on and smiles to herself.
SELMA: Well I’m just glad that you two are together and “talking.”
NORA: So am I momma. I think I’ll come pick up Matthew tomorrow morning if that’s okay with you?
SELMA: That’s more than okay. We can easily spoil him another day!! And don’t you two stay in the tub too long. You’ll get all wrinkled.
NORA (totally embarrassed): We won’t momma. I’ll see you tomorrow.
Nora puts the phone down and then puts her face into Bo’s chest.
BO: What? What did she say?
NORA: She told us not to stay in the tub too long. Yet another embarrassing moment in as many days. Now my mother knows that we were making love in the tub.
BO (kissing her deeply): Well…we never actually got to the making love part. And I wouldn’t want to disappoint your mom.
NORA (smiling): Do you know how much I love you?
BO: As much as I love you?
NORA (kissing him deeply): Yep…that much!!!

Later that night at the Palace, Bo and Nora walk into the restaurant hand in hand. They can’t keep their eyes (or their hands) off of each other. Renee smiles when she sees them and seats them at a nice private table.
BO: I can’t believe that you made us leave my garret.
NORA (smiling): Bo…we had to get some food.
BO: I had food.
NORA: Two cans of chicken noodle soup and some corn flakes is not food. Besides…we had to get out of bed sometime.
BO (leaning in to kiss her): Give me one good reason why.
NORA (smiling): Because I’m starving and I needed some nourishment if we actually expect to continue with the fun and games later.
BO (smiling): Okay…but eat quick.
NORA (laughing): You are impossible Bo Buchanan.
BO: But you love me.
NORA: Yes….I love you. Craziness and all.
BO (kissing her quickly): I love you too Red.
Bo starts looking for the waiter when he spots a familiar pair.
BO (pointing): Look over there. It’s Janis and Kay.
NORA: What are they doing together? I didn’t even know they were friends.
BO: Hmmmm I wonder what they’re up to.
As they are talking Hank and Rae walk in….looking mighty cozy.
BO: Should we ask them to join us?
NORA: I guess it’s the polite thing to do but hopefully they’ll say no. I want to be alone with you tonight.
BO (smiling): I’ll take care of it.
Hank and Rae are having the same conversation.
HANK: I know they’re going to ask us to join them. But I’d rather not.
RAE: Me either. I want to be alone with you tonight.
HANK: I’ll take care of it.
Hank and Rae approach Bo and Nora’s table. Kisses and handshakes are exchanged.
BO (hesitantly with NO feeling): Care to join us?
HANK: We’d love to but it looks like you two really want to be alone. We don’t want to intrude.
NORA: It wouldn’t be an intrusion.
Bo stares at her.
RAE: No. Really….we’ll just leave you two alone.
BO: Okay. We’ll see you later.
Hank and Rae leave and get seated at their own table.
HANK (to Rae): That was close.
Bo and Nora turn to each other after Hank and Rae leave.
BO (smiling): That was close.
NORA: I’m glad we’re alone.
BO: Me too.
NORA: I don’t feel like sharing you tonight.
BO: Me either. Wanna dance?
Bo and Nora spend the evening dancing, talking, eating, drinking. Just plain enjoying themselves. Just happy to be together.
NORA: Excuse me. I’m going to run to the ladies room.
BO: Hurry back.
Nora is primping in front of the mirror when Rae walks in.
RAE: You look happy.
NORA: I am. Happiest I’ve been in a long time. I can’t believe that less than six weeks ago I was in a miserable relationship. My life has turned around completely.
RAE (smiling): I can tell. Bo is a great guy.
NORA (smiling): He’s incredible. He has stood by me through all of this. No pressure, no expectations. I love him so much.
RAE: He loves you too. I can see it in his face every time he looks at you.
NORA: I know. (pausing) I’m still having some nightmares about Sam and everything he did to me. Bo thinks I need to talk to somebody about that. Would you be willing?
RAE: Of course. I’ll do anything to help.
NORA: Could we meet sometime tomorrow afternoon? I need to get Matt in Chicago in the morning but I’d like to talk to you as soon as possible.
RAE: How about 3:00 tomorrow?
NORA: Thank you so much Rae.
Rae and Nora walk out together. As soon as Bo sees Nora, he breaks out into a huge grin. Rae leans in to Nora.
RAE: See…I told you that he loves you. Just look at that smile.
NORA (smiling): I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night.
Nora walks up to the table and Bo kisses her gently.
BO: What you smiling about?
NORA: Cuz I’m madly in love with you.
BO: Oh…the same reason that I’m smiling at you? Come on. Let’s go home.
Bo and Nora arrive at Bo’s garret. Bo puts on some music and Nora heads out to the patio. Bo sits down in a lounger and Nora climbs onto his lap…snuggling close as Bo wraps his arms around her.
NORA: I love this place. I feel safe here.
BO: I’m glad. I want you to feel safe.
NORA: I’m going to see Rae tomorrow afternoon.
BO: Really? That’s good. I think you need to talk to her. Hopefully she can help you get past all of this Sam business and we can concentrate on us.
NORA (kissing him deeply): That’s what I want too. You, me and Matt. All together.
BO: I’m glad we agree about that. Come on…let’s go to bed and get after each other all night. It’s been a longggggg five hours since we last made love.
NORA (smiling): Well we can’t have that now can we?
The next morning Bo and Nora have taken Asa’s jet to pick up Matt. Matt’s ecstatic to see his mom and uncle Bo. Selma has fixed a wonderful brunch. They all eat while Matt talks a mile a minute about everything he’s done the last couple of days. Nora just smiles at his enthusiasm.
MATT: Come on mom and uncle Bo…come out and see the playhouse that grandpa is building me.
NORA (looking at her father): Daddy?
LEN: It’s just a small little fort. Someplace for him to play when he comes out here.
MATT (whining): Come onnnnnnnn.
NORA: Matt why don’t you and grandpa show Uncle Bo. I want to talk to your grandma for a little while. I’ll come out later to see it.
The men all head out to see the fort. Nora watches them leave….all the men in her life together in one place. She couldn’t believe how blessed she was.
SELMA: What did you want to talk about?
NORA: Nothing really. I just wanted to thank you for watching Matt. It’s meant the world to me. To have this time….
SELMA: This time with Bo?
NORA (smiling): Is it that obvious?
SELMA: On both your faces. I don’t think I’ve seen you this happy in a long time.
NORA: I don’t think I’ve been this happy in a long time. I love him so much.
SELMA: So what you going to do about that?
NORA: I’m not sure momma. We’re working on it.
SELMA: Haven’t you waited long enough to be together?
NORA: I know momma. But we just got back together. And there’s Matthew to worry about.
SELMA: Matt loves Bo and Bo loves Matt. You know that. He will be a wonderful father to him.
NORA: What if he doesn’t want to be a father? I hurt him so terribly when I lied to him about Matt being his son before he was born. Could he really accept Matt as his own?
SELMA: Nora, baby, you worry too much. I’ve watched the two of them together. I don’t think there is anything that Bo won’t do for that boy. He loves Matt with his whole heart.
Meanwhile outside Matt is crawling all over his fort under the watchful eye of Bo and Len.
BO: Matt…be careful in there.
MATT: I will be uncle Bo.
LEN (to Bo): What’s going on with you and Nora?
BO (laughing): Still right to the point huh Len?
LEN: She’s my baby Bo. You know that I want only the best for her.
BO: Same here Len. I want only the best for both her and Matt.
LEN: That’s good to hear, son.
BO (taking a deep breath): To that end, I want to ask you for your daughter’s hand in marriage.
LEN: Bo…I’m not so sure about that.
