Baby Makes Three (part 2)
Last time....Nora's water broke.
N: My water just broke.
B: Are you sure?
N: Uh, yeah!
B: What do I do? (He starts to freak out) Should I call an ambulance?, Call the doctor?, What?
N: First, you calm down. Call Dr. Conklin, tell her we are on the way and then come in here and help me.
B: Right, right. Okay - I'm calling Dr. Conklin now.
Bo calls the doctor and she says she'll be there waiting for them.
Bo goes into the bathroom, helps Nora change and clean up and they head for the hospital.
In the car......
B: Are you okay? What should I do? (He keeps touching her belly and her forehead)
N: I'm fine Bo. Just pay attention to the road and get us there in one piece.
B: Right. I'm okay. (He starts doing the breathing exercises from lamaze class)
N: Bo, I'm supposed to do the breathing stuff (she starts to laugh).
B: Right. Right. I'm okay. Really.
She puts her hand on his knee.
N: I'm fine. We'll be fine.
Nora gets checked in. The doctor is there. And Bo looks like he's seen a ghost.
N: Bo, don't fade out on me. I need you now.
B: I'm all right. Are you in pain?
N (Laughs): Just a little....(as she lets out a huge scream).
B: Oh man. Ahhh....(as Nora grips his hand really hard) Do you want something for the pain honey? Please?
N (Panting, breathing): I don't know.....oh my god YES!!!!!!
Dr. Conklin gives her an epidural.
N: Bo?
B: Yeah Red?
N: I hate you (another big scream).
B: What?
N: You did this to me (scream).
B: I'm going to ignore that Nora. How long before it kicks in? She probably could kill me with her bare hands right now (starts to laugh).
N: The man has the nerve to laugh at me. Laugh! That's all he's been doing all night.
B: I'm sorry honey. I've never seen you like this.
N: Well, get used to it! (Scream).
Finally, the epidural kicks in and Nora feels a little better.
N: Bo, I love you. We're going to have a baby.
B: Wow, you're like a new woman. I love you too. Relax and breathe. (He kisses her on the forehead).
Nora only manages a small smile, she closes her eyes.
Bo thinks she's just resting. Suddenly some buzzers and monitors start going off.
Bo looks petrified.
B: What's going on? Nora?
She doesn't respond.
Dr. Conklin: Bo, you'll have to step outside.
