BABY MAKES THREE - PART 3

Last time....Bo was asked to leave the delivery room.

B: What's happening? What's the matter? Are they going to be okay?

Dr: Please Bo. Wait outside.

Bo leaves the delivery room. Asa and Renee are there all excited.

Asa: Well, do I have a grandson?

Renee: Bo, what's wrong? You look terrible.

B: I don't know. They hurried me out. All these beepers and stuff started to go off. Something's wrong.

R: What do you mean?

B: Well she was having a tough time and she had an epidural and then she felt better. I was talking to her and then she just faded out and....

R: Oh dear god. Bo, believe me. I'm sure they both will be fine.

A: Renee's right son. Nora's tough. She can handle it. And that baby is a Buchanan. He's tough too.

B: Why won't they tell me what's going on?

R: You have to relax darlin'. Nora needs you. The doctor's are doing everything they can. I'm sure it won't be too much longer.

Bo rushes to the delivery room nurses station to demand information.

Nurse: I'm sorry sir. I have no way of knowing what's going on in there right now. I'm sure the doctor will be with you as soon as she can.

Bo can do nothing but pace the floor.

B: I want to go in. I have to be with her. I can't lose her. What's going on???

Just then Dr. Conklin comes out.

B: How are they? What's the matter?

Dr: They are stabilized right now. Both Nora and the baby's blood pressure dropped extremely rapidly. It's back under control, however, she's going to have to have a C-section. She's not strong enough for a vaginal birth.

B: Are you sure they are okay? Can I see her? What happens next?

Dr: Yes, you may go back in. I want to let Nora rest for a little while longer. Don't worry. She's being carefully monitored.

A: You see. I knew she was as strong as an ox. She comes from good stock.

Bo just looks at Asa and goes back into the delivery room.

Nora is calling for him.

N: Bo? Bo?

B: Hey, I'm right here Red. How are you feeling?

N: What happened?

B: You guys are fine. Your blood pressure went a little crazy, but Dr. Conklin says everything will be okay. You have to have a Cesarean though.

N: Really? Are you sure? How's the baby?

B: Again, everything's fine. I wish the little guy was ready to come out already. I can't stand this waiting.

N: You can't stand it? That's really funny Bo.

B: Just trying to keep things light around here Nora. Do you want to squeeze my hand again?

N: If you insist, but I'd rather have an inspirational kiss to help me get through this.

B: Inspirational? Well, there is only so much I can do with you in this condition, but I'll give it my best shot.

N: Just kiss me already.

Bo leans over and kisses her - a typical Bo kiss.

N: Mmm, that'll do.

Bo dabs a cool washcloth on Nora's forehead. And just stares at her.

B: Nora, I want you to know how much I love you. I'll never let anything happen to you. I couldn't live without you. And pretty soon we'll have our baby. A child that was created from this incredible love we have for each other. You just relax.

N: You are so sweet Bo. I love you too, more than you could ever know.

Dr. Conklin comes back and examines Nora.

Dr: Looks like all systems go Nora. I'll have the nurses prep you. Come on Bo, let's get you dressed.

B: (Looking really nervous and scared) Well, here we go honey. It's time. I'll be right back.

N: I'm not going anywhere.

Bo is all dressed in Llanview Hospital's finest scrubs and Nora is all set too.

Dr: Now Bo, I hope you are not squeamish, because this is something you really don't want to miss out on.

B: I'll be fine. I hope. How are you Nora?

N: I'm nervous, excited, scared - all at the same time.

B: Well, I'm right here. Just relax.

Dr: Here we go.

They start the operation. Everything is going fine. Bo is watching everything. His eyes never leaving the doctors or Nora.

It doesn't take very long. Dr. Conklin removes the baby.

Dr: It's a boy!
