BABY MAKES THREE - PART 4

Last time...It's a boy!!!

B: A boy! Did you hear that Nora? A baby boy.

The baby is whisked away to be cleaned up and checked out and Nora is also attended too - stitching her up and such.

Bo is with the baby while they weigh him, measure him, check for all 10 fingers and toes. He is just amazed and overwhelmed with an instant feeling of love and protection for their baby.

They head back over to Nora to let her hold the baby for the first time.

Dr: Nora, he's a healthy 8 lb. 10 oz. baby boy. Congratulations you two! I know it was a tough road for a while there for you guys. He's beautiful.

Bo is just beaming, barely able to speak as Nora takes the baby from Dr. Conklin.

N: Hello my sweet little angel. Oh Bo, he's so beautiful. (she starts to cry). He's amazing. And he's fine right?

Dr: He's perfect.

B: Yes he is. Just like his mommy. (Bo kisses her).

Dr: Well Nora needs her rest. We'll put him in the nursery. Don't worry he'll be back.

N: Oh all right. If you must. (she hands him back to the nurse).

B: Well, you did it honey! This is just amazing. How are you feeling?

N: I'm exhausted, but I'm exhilarated at the same time. How are you?

B: I'm kind of floating on air right now. You did all the work. We have our little baby. I can't believe it!

N (she starts to cry again): I know. Our little baby. Oh and we agree on our name then?

B: Yes. Matthew Hanen Buchanan.

N (still crying): I love that. I love you.

Bo reaches over to kiss and hug her as much as he can without hurting her.

B: Honey, I've got to tell Pa and Renee. They must be going crazy out there. You try to relax a little. I'll call Hank and Rachel too.

N: Okay. Hurry back.

Bo comes out from the delivery room, smiling that Bo smile.

B: It's a boy! And everyone is fine and healthy.

R: Oh! That's wonderful. Congratulations sweetheart!

A: I knew it! I knew Nora had it in her! Congratulations son - another Buchanan man in the world.

B: Thanks. I'm just a little out of it right now. Matthew Hanen Buchanan is in the nursery if you want to see him (he says proudly).

A: No naming him after your old man?

B: No. Sorry Pa. I need to make some calls.

R: Asa now hush. Let's go see our new grandson.

A: I guess I forgive you son. Yes, let's go and make sure he's being taken care of properly. I'll hire him his own private nurse.

B: Pa! Not necessary, he's fine. Now go. I'll meet you guys there.

Asa gives Bo a big bear hug. Then he and Renee go to the nursery and Bo heads to the phones.

He calls Hank, who is thrilled for them and Rachel who is ecstatic and decides to come to Llanview right away to see her new little brother and to help out mom in her recovery.

B: Great Rachel! Your mom will be so happy to have both her kids at home. I'll tell her right away. See you soon.

He also calls Nora's parents, Clint, Viki, everyone at the department. He is one proud daddy.

While on his way to the nursery window, he runs into Sam. Bo and Sam are not "pals," he continues to be a thorn in Bo's side. Sam considers himself Nora's really good friend and always looks at her with goo-goo eyes.

Sam: Bo what's going on?

B: Nora had the baby – a boy.

S: Congratulations. Everyone okay?

B: Thank you. Yes Nora and our son are fine.

S: That's great. Can I see her?

B: Um, no. She had a rough time. She's resting. Maybe when she comes home.

S: I see. Well, tell her I said congratulations.

B: I will. What are you doing here at this time of night?

S: Oh I had a little indigestion problem. Nothing serious. (Make up your own jokes)

B: Oh. Well, so long.

Bo walks away laughing, "What a dork" and heads back to the nursery window.

Asa and Renee are there. They are completely in love with Matthew.

R: Bo, he's gorgeous! Looks just like you.

A: Yes son. Looks just like you as a boy.

B: You think so? I think he looks like Nora. He is a cute little guy isn't he?

The nurse is signaling that he will be brought back to Nora's room, so they all head there.

Nora is dozing, but wakes up when the nurse comes in with Matthew.

Nurse: He wants his mommy.

N: Gladly! I missed him.

The nurse hands Matthew to Nora and she kisses him all over. Bo, Asa, and Renee walk in.

A: Congratulations little Nora – you did it. You gave me another heir!

N (laughing) Thank you Asa. I'm glad I could help.

R: Nora, he is just beautiful. How are you feeling?

N: I'm sore. I'm tired. I'll be fine in no time – hopefully (laughs). But I'm extremely grateful that he's healthy.

B: Honey, no need to worry. I've taken some time off, Rachel's coming, your parents will probably come. I think we'll have plenty of hands. Oh, I saw Sam. He gives you his best.

A: Sam? What did that low life want?

R: Asa! This is not the time.

N: What was he doing here at this hour?

B: He had to see a doctor. He's fine (laughing).

N: What?

B: Never mind honey.

R: Asa, I've got to get you home. It's late. Let's let these three have some time together.

A: All right. But, we'll be back tomorrow. Take care of yourself Nora and that new grandson of mine. (He kisses them both)

N: Thank you both. Goodnight.

B: Did you hear that Red? Baby makes three!

N: You are so corny, but you are incredibly cute.

B: Why thank you. Speaking of cute, Pa and Renee thinks he looks like me.

N: Oh no! Another Buchanan lady killer. I think it's too soon to tell.

B: Well, I think he looks like you.

N: Bo, have you held him at all?

B: Actually I haven't. You're hogging him.

N (laughs): Well, come here daddy.

She hands Matthew to Bo.

N: Make sure you hold his head.

B: Like this? (Bo places him in the crook of his elbow - cradling him) I can't tell you how wonderful this feels. Hey Matthew, Happy Birthday. (He kisses him).

N (ready to cry): I'm the luckiest woman in the whole world. Two gorgeous men to dote on and to dote on me.

B: You got that right Nora. You're stuck with us.

N: I wouldn't have it any other way.

In the meantime, Sam hasn't left the hospital. He's been lurking outside Nora's room, passing the doorway every so often trying to catch a glimpse of Nora, but hoping Bo doesn't notice him. He knows not to go in or Bo would kill him.

Bo glances out the door.

B: Was that Sam?

N: Where?

B: I thought I just saw him pass by your door. I told him to go home.

N: Bo, I'm sure it wasn't him. Forget about it.

Bo hands Matthew back to Nora and gets up to look outside. Sam hightails it toward an elevator. Bo doesn't notice him.

B: I guess it wasn't him. No one was around.

N: I told you. I'm starving, when do I get something to eat?

B: My Nora is back!
