BABY MAKES THREE - PART 5

In a week, Nora is released from the hospital and they head for home.

The house is filled with flowers and balloons from family and friends.

Bo placed a huge bouquet of red roses for her on the coffee table. The card reads "Dear Nora, To My Favorite Redhead and My Favorite New Mom, you did good kid. I love you - Bo."

Bo and Nora walk in. Nora is carrying Matthew in the infant seat. He is sleeping.

N: Wow! It looks like a florist shop exploded in here.

B: I know. I didn't know where to put them all. They are all over the house.

N: Well, it's beautiful. Welcome home Matthew! (she whispers) This will be your home for a long, long time.

B: Or until he gets drafted by the Eagles.

N: Or until he goes to Harvard Law School.

B: A lawyer? No way honey! One of you in the house is enough.

N: Thanks a lot. Oooh, let's show him his room.

B: He's asleep.

N: So.

B: Aren't you missing something? (His eyes are shifting to the roses)

N: What? What did I forget? Did I leave something at the hospital?

B: No. Look around.

She looks around the room and finally spots the flowers. She reads the card and laughs.

N: They're beautiful Bo. Thank you so much. I love you too.

They hug, they kiss, they just stay in their embrace.

B: You know something, it feels really good to finally get my arms all the way around you. It's been a long time.

N: I have a little secret for you. If you keep up with the cracks like that, it's going to be an even longer time. If you catch my drift.

With that she takes Matthew and goes upstairs to the nursery.

B: I was joking - joking. (He follows her upstairs) You used to have a sense of humor.

N: Keep it up Buchanan!

Nora takes Matthew out of the infant seat and places him in the bassinet. They turn the baby monitors on and head to the bedroom.

N: It's so good to be home. I'm exhausted. I think I'm going to take a nap.

B: Sure honey. Anything you want. Are you hungry?

N: No, I'm fine. I really just need to rest. No visitors either okay?

B: Right. Do you mind if I take a nap with you?

N: Yes. Why don't you take the couch.

Bo looks hurt. He can't tell if she's joking.

B: The couch?

N: Yeah, I want to spread out. You know - after being cooped up in that hospital bed for a week.

B: Oh. I see. I'll be downstairs then if you need me.

N (laughing): Bo! I'm kidding. See I still have my sense of humor. Come on. (She pats his spot on the bed).

B: I knew you were kidding Nora. (He lays down next to her).

N: Yeah right! You should have seen your face - all sad. Seriously, I've missed you. Just being next to you gives me a great sense of protection.

B: I'll always be here for you and Matthew.

They manage about a half hour's nap before they hear Matthew crying.

B: What do we do?

N (laughs): You go to his room and bring him to me, he's probably hungry.

B: I knew that. I was testing you.

N: Sure. Just go get him.

Bo gets Matthew and brings him to their room. Nora feeds him.

B: Is this how it's going to be? Up every half hour?

N: It's been known to happen. Better get used to no sleep.

B: I can handle that (he says with a big yawn).

N: Oh I know you will!

B: You can count on me honey.....(his voice trailing off).

N: Bo! Wake up! I want to take some pictures of you and Matthew. Go get the camera.

B: I'm awake. I'm awake. Geesh, just because I close my eyes doesn't mean I'm sleeping.

N: Just resting your eyelids then? Is that it? Go get the camera.

B: I'm going. I guess you're going to be the disciplinarian huh?

Nora throws a pillow at him as he walks out the door.

N: You are really asking for it Bo.
