BABY MAKES THREE - PART 6
About a month has passed. Bo has gone back to work. But anytime he can handle work from home, he does. Nora is recovering fine and Matthew is doing well. They both love being parents.
All three of them are in the living room. Nora is reading Matthew a story. Bo is working on some paperwork at his desk.
The doorbell rings. It is a large bouquet of flowers.
N: Wow! Who could those be from?
Bo reads the card. "Dear Nora, Congratulations on the birth of our son, Love Sam."
B: Our son? What the hell does that mean?
N: Let me see the card. I'm sure it's just a silly mistake the florist shop made.
B: No. No. Then why doesn't it say to Bo and Nora?
N: Bo, I'm telling you it's a mistake. Forget about it.
B: And I'm telling you, the guy's nuts. I'm still convinced I saw him that night at the hospital. And I haven't forgotten what he said to me at the lodge. I'll never forget it. This had better be a mix up, because if it isn't, I'll set him straight.
N: Honey, you are overreacting. I'm telling you it's a mistake. Sam's not going crazy. He knows I love you and he knows I'm happier than I ever could have imagined. Please just forget about it okay? For me.
B: All right. You are probably right.
Bo goes back to the desk and pretends to throw the card away, but he slips it in his shirt pocket with all intentions of talking to Sam about it.
N: I'd better call him to let him know I received the flowers.
B: If you must. Uh, there's some files I left at the station. Would you mind if I ran over there right now?
N: No, go ahead. We'll be fine. I'll see you later.
Bo leaves, making sure he locks the door behind him.
Bo heads for Sam's office.
The door is open. Sam's secretary is away from her desk.
Bo walks in and flings the card at Sam.
B: What the hell is this all about Rappaport?
Sam jumps up - all startled and reads the card.
S: Nora just called to thank me. She didn't say anything about this and she didn't say you were coming over.
B: She doesn't know I'm here. She thinks it's a mistake the florist shop made. I don't think so Sam. What do you think?
S: Bo, this really is a mistake. (Hesitating) Um, I told them to say "Dear Bo and Nora, Congratulations on the birth of your son." Why would I say this?
B: I don't know, you tell me. You didn't think I would see the card? How stupid do you think I am?
S: I'm telling you Bo. I never said this. It's just a silly mistake.
B: I'm a cop Sam. I can tell when people are lying to me. I remember what you said to me at the lodge - about you loving Nora and that you would win her back. Those words go through my head every day. I slugged you once over it and I'll do it again. Nora and I are in love, we are happy, and now we have a child. What part of love, happy, or family don't you understand? Do you make it a habit to break up people's families?
S: It's not like that Bo. I know you are happy. I'm not trying to break up your home.
B: Well you could have fooled me. Every time I turn around you are near Nora.
S: She's my friend.
B: Sam, Nora has plenty of friends and I'm Nora's best friend.
S: Jealous Bo?
Bo walks up to Sam's desk and leans into it.
B: You know, you are lucky I don't come over there and punch you again. (Sam backs up further behind his desk.) I'm telling you, for your own safety, you stay away from Nora and Matthew or you might not live to regret it. Better yet, why don't you just leave Llanview and get some psychiatric help.
Bo leaves and slams the door behind him.
Sam falls back into his chair and reads the card again.
S: Damn! I was really sure he wouldn't be home today.
