Blown Away - Part 3

Just trust me... :)
*********************************
How can I just let you walk away
Just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you
You're the only one who really knew me at all

How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave
'Cause we shared the laughter and the pain
And even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now
'Cause there's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face

Bo sat in his car in front of Nora’s house for almost half an hour. He was oblivious to the number of times she looked through the blinds. She wanted to go out to him, but she was afraid he would misconstrue it.

Bo: (through his tears) How?…I’ve lost her…Oh Red…It’s forever this time…I can’t live without you…how am I supposed to live without you? (getting angry) HOW??

He pounds his fist on the dashboard of his car

Bo saw Sam's car coming down the street, he through his car in reverse, quickly backed out of the drive and sped off in the opposite direction of Sam. The last thing he wanted was to acknowledge to Sam's face that he won.

Sam and Matthew got the groceries from the car and headed into the house.

Sam: (calling as he enters the house) Nora!

Matt: Mom!!!

Nora comes from the kitchen. Sam sees she is upset.

Sam: Matt, why don't you go ahead and set these in the kitchen, I'll be right in to help. (he hands Matt the bag and the boy heads out of the room)

Nora watches her son leave and turns to Sam.

Nora: Bo was here...

Sam: I thought I saw him pulling out...

Nora: Oh Sam (she puts her hand on her forehead and walks around into Sam's embrace)

Sam: What's wrong honey? (he holds her back a bit and looks into her eyes) What did he say to you?

Nora: He knows about our baby.

Sam: And that's a bad thing?

Nora: He came over to try and reconcile...

Sam: Reconcile what?

Nora: He and I...back together...

Sam: What?!! (get angry) Is he nuts?!! (walks away from Nora) Does he think all this time you've been sitting and waiting for him to "pick you"?!! (pacing) the nerve of that guy!!

Nora: (walking over and hugging Sam from behind) Honey...I'm sure he's just going through a grieving process...he didn't mean any harm.

Sam: Nora (getting irritated) you don't have to defend him! He's a grown man...who obviously thinks he can do whatever he wants!

Nora: Sam...calm down...its not that big of a deal...

Sam: It is that big of a deal! (wiping his mouth) He comes into my home...he upsets the mother of my children...and you tell me its ok? No!!

Nora: Sam...you are making more of this than necessary! (she walks over to the front door)

Sam: Where are you going?

Nora: I have to go talk to Bo...I have to make sure he is all right.

Sam: Nora, don't do this...

Nora: Sam, I am so disappointed. (pausing) after all this time, after the fact that we have a child and another on the way, you are still a jealous ugly person. Bo is my friend, and right now (looking sternly at him) my friend needs me. I'll be home later. Dinner will be done in ten minutes, eat without me.

Bo drove back to the docks, he sat in his car lookng out into the quickly falling darkness. He pulls out his cell phone. He makes a call.

Recording: Howdy! This is Clint and Dallas Buchanan and we can't get your call right now...please leave your message, remember the number and I'll get back to y'all soon as possible...

Bo: Clint...(his voice is cracking) Clint...it's Bo...are you there? (pausing) I'll talk to ya bro.

He hangs up and gets out of his car and begins to walk the docks.

Bo: (talking to himself) She's gone...I lost here...(he stares out at the dark water) what do I have left? (he stands silent and watches a lone tug pull out of the docks) Drew....(he looks up at the moon)I have nothing...

He walks over to some boxes and sits down

Bo: (to himself) Nora...why couldn't I tell you I forgave you when you needed to here it? Hhmmmph...I'm a chump...I'm a fool...and now I am alone. (pausing) maybe I'm supposed to be alone...maybe I shouldn't be here anymore...maybe I need to leave Llanview for good and never look back.

Nora drove over to Bo's home. It didn't take her long to realize he wasn't there. She headed over to the station. She was told that he left sometime ago and hadn't returned. She went to the cemetery. She walked over Drew's grave.

Nora: (stooping to pull out some of the overgrowth) Drew...I don't know what to do this time...(she begins to cry) I've moved on with my life, Drew. How am I supposed to just forget the life Sam and I have created. He moved on Drew. He chose Melanie...he chose Lindsey...he chose everyone but me...I can't go back...I can't give up what Sam and I have...our family...I hope he will understand...

She says a small prayer and gets up, turns and leaves. No sooner does she pull away from the small graveyard, Bo walks up to his son's grave.

Bo: Drew...(he sits near the grave marker) son...it's not right that I have o come here to talk to you...you should be here...alive, maybe married and worried about making me a grandfather...you'd be a good father...better than I was...you'd be a great husband...I know you'd never hurt your wife the way I hurt mine...(he begins to cry) I lost her son...I lost the only woman I'll ever truly love...

He sits quietly crying for over an hour before walking out the main gate. As he walks through town he can't stop thinking of her. It was eating him alive. He heads towards the house. Their house. Walking alone he continues to play in his heart the way it felt when she told him she was pregnant. It ripped him to the core. He started to cry. As he neared the corner of what used to be their street, it began to rain. He didn’t care. As he approached the house, the rain began to fall heavier. He stood across the street from the house. Through the open draperies he could see the family he sold the house to. A nice couple. They fell in love with the house the minute they saw it, much the way he had. He saw them playing around with their children in the living room. How he so wanted to have children with Nora. He remembered back to when they made all their plans, dreams of a family, how that was going to be the last home either them would ever have.

Bo: Ha! Screwed that up, didn’t ya Buchanan. (he stared at the man running through the living room with a young boy on his shoulders, Bo shakes his head slowly) never happen for us…Nora…I loved you so much…I still do…

He hung his head and continued down the street and decided to head to Rodi’s.

So take a look at me now
When there's just an empty space
And you comin' back to me is against all odds
And that's what I've got to face

I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around to see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all

Rodi’s

Bartender: Hey! Ms. Buchanan! (wiping a glass dry and setting it on the bar) haven’t seen you in here in ages! (motioning to the glass with his head) get ya something?

Nora: Hey Frankie! Yeah…it has been a long time. Um…let me have a club soda with a twist…

Frankie: How bout a double? (he smiles warmly) You look like you got a lot to talk about…

Nora: Do they teach you guys that in school?

Frankie: I was born to listen (he sets the drink down) what’s got you so down?

Nora: It’s a long story…

Frankie: Aren’t they all? (wiping some more glasses) I ain’t goin’ no where for six more hours…

Nora: My life became very complicated today…

Frankie: You don’t say? (pausing) How’d that happen?

Nora: Well, a dear friend of mine, some one who I care very much about, found out that Sam and I are having a baby…

Frankie: I take it this friend wasn’t as happy as you and Sam?

Nora: Not in the least…he took it rather badly…
Frankie: Ms. Buchanan…if I may be so forward as to ask here…would this friend be the Commish?

Nora: Do you know Dionne Warwick?? (laughing in amazement) How do you do that?

Frankie: Its all in the wrist (smiles at her) But if you two ain’t together no more…what’s it matter to him?

Nora: You know he lost his fiancé almost a month ago right?

Frankie: So I read…

Nora: He came over today and told me he wanted us to get back together…

Frankie: Ouch…(grimacing slightly) and he didn’t realize you and Sam had this great family deal happening…

Nora: Something like that…he left my home in a terrible state..I was trying to find him…

Frankie: You want him back?

Nora: I want him as a friend…I can’t walk away from the life Sam and I have…it wouldn’t be right…

Frankie: What’s right about love?

Nora: Hey! I never said I loved Bo! (looking down and stirring the ice in her club soda)

Frankie: You don’t have to…I can hear it in your concern for him.

Nora: Great! (sipping her drink) another step onto complication boulevard!

Frankie: Ask yourself…if you weren’t in a family way…would you want the Commissioner?

Nora: (sighing) Frankie…Frankie…Frankie…my head says no, but my heart says yes…(pausing) but I have a new life!

Frankie: Do you? (putting up some glasses) or did you just hide your old one so it wouldn’t hurt you anymore?

Nora: Even if that’s the case Frankie, I can’t give up what I have made with Matthew and Sam

Frankie: Hey, we do what we have to do….

Nora: If you see him though….

Frankie: I’m sending him your way…

Nora: Tell him to call me first…

Nora leaves Frankie some money and heads out of the bar. She gets in her car and is suddenly compelled to drive past their old house.

As Nora rounds the corner out of Rodi’s, Bo walks up from behind the building. Completely oblivious to the fact that she was just there, he stands in the rain staring at the familiar hang out.

Bo: (to himself) I can’t go in there…too many memories…everything in this town just brings me back to the one person I can never be with again…

He stuffs his hands in his pockets and starts off back toward the docks to get his car.

He gets in his car and drives over to Asa’s. He runs through the rain to the door

Bo: (ringing the bell and pounding on the door) Pa!!! (pounding) You in there?? PA!!!

No one answers. He gets back in his car.

Bo: Jesus…I am alone…

He looks around and toward the sky, sighing deeply he drives off.
