Body and Soul- Part 7

Last time, Bo and Nora went out on their first date and it just happened that it was on the date of what used to be their wedding anniversary. Bo has taken Nora somewhere but blindfolded her. She removes the blindfold and wonders where they are.

Bo turned around leaving what he was doing at the table, “Nora I told you not to look!”

“No Bo where are we? I had no clue we were going to be roughing it, are we in like some sort of hut or something?” Nora got on her feet and tried to look around. She went to the end of the room and looked down, “Oh my gosh Bo, are we in a tree?”

Bo just stood there amused at her shock with a huge smile on his face. “Would it be so bad if we were in a tree Nora? I mean you act as if you’ve never been taken on a date up in a tree house before!” Bo was holding back full blown laughter at this point.

Nora turned around, the look of shock still spread all over her face, “Bo Buchanan, you tell me where we are right now! Is this place even safe for us to be?”

Bo started laughing as he looked around at the make shift furnishings in the tree house, “Nora we are in a tree house surrounded by furniture, we aren’t going to fall out if that’s what you mean. Besides this was built for our son and by us, so we are perfectly fine.”

Nora looked around taking in more of her surroundings and she couldn’t help but laugh when she spotted the “no girls allowed” sign but noticed that printed in ink by Matthew at the bottom was the addition of “except mom”. “Now that is cute, did you put him up to that?”

“Nope, he thought of that one all by himself. We built it while you were in the coma and he was nice enough to lend it to me for my hot date tonight.”

“Oh Bo, you are so incredible for doing this and for making it original, both you and Matthew mean so much to me, I’m just sad that I was gone for so long.” Nora sat down clutching her knees to her chest.

Bo went to join her on the blanket, “Red, I am just so sorry that I wasted so much time letting my pride get in the way of us, and getting back to you. You have no idea how many regrets I have had and when I said the things I did to you that day, my God it’s amazing that you give me the time of day.”

“Bo, we’ve both made mistakes, and I think now is the time for us to get past them and move on so no more regrets OK? Let’s just remember the bad but also the great stuff and try to build on it. I know how regrets can keep you in a horrible place but we need to get a fresh start, I’m willing if you are.”

“Oh, Nora you have no idea how much I want to do that, but there’s something standing in the way.” Bo got up and crossed the small space between her and the table.

“Bo, what is it? What aren’t you telling me?” Nora seemed concerned and a bit confused.

Bo turned to her and hit play on the small radio he had brought, he didn’t want her to think anything was wrong so he went back to her. “Red, I have been lugging this thing around for like seven years and I want to give it back to you so nothing is unanswered in you mind.” Bo handed her a rectangular shaped box that felt extremely heavy in her hands. She opened it up slowly for fear of what might be inside. Instantly her heart melted. She turned to look at Bo, and smiled. “I cannot believe that you kept this all that time.”

“Well it was the only thing I had left from that house, our home. Just a cornerstone to remind me of all the great times we had there. I wanted to give it to you to put with you half and hopefully we can put our two hearts back together the same way. That’s all that was standing in the way, now will you dance with me?” Bo held out his hand and Nora put the stone down on the small table and gratefully took it. They held on tight to one another as the Temptations played in the background. One artist after another sang out until all of “their” songs were playing. They danced for what seemed like hours until Bo pulled back and looked deep into Nora’s eyes. He led her to the blanket on the floor and she followed both knowing what was coming next, and neither one objecting.

“Are you OK with this?” Bo asked as he sat next to her.

“Bo, we have wasted too much time, and I want nothing more than to be with you tonight and every night for as long as we have.” Nora leaned in and kissed him passionately on the mouth. The years of longing coming out in full force and he was just as eager. That night in a little tree house, Bo and Nora renewed over and over again the years of love, longing, and passion that both had tried to ignore. They were finally happy and nothing in the world could fracture that cornerstone or their love ever again.
