Bo's Journey Home - Finale

MATURE CONTENT

Nora was returning from the kitchen with Renee when they ran into Bo just coming in the front door. He was handing his coat to Nigel. Nora had stopped to stare at him. She smiled at him from across the foyer. He was still the most handsome man she had ever met. Bo smiled back at her and there it was. He could still take her breath away with just one look. Renee saw the looks they gave each other and went to Bo, kissing him gently on the cheek. She looked back at Nora. “I’ll leave you two alone to say your hellos, but be quick about it. I don’t want to have to send Nigel looking for you two.”
Nigel gave them a panicked look as Renee took him by the arm, leading him towards the living room.

Bo smiled at Renee sarcastically as Nora moved towards him, meeting him halfway across the foyer. “Hi,” she smiled, stopping in front of him, reaching up to touch the side of his face.

Bo’s smile widen as he took her into his arms, kissing her gently. “Hi. You look great.”

Nora looked into his eyes. “And you look exhausted.”

Bo shook his head, kissing her again. “I’m better now.”
He looked over Nora’s shoulder. “Where’s Matthew?”

Nora shrugged her head in the direction of the living room. “With the rest of the clan. You missed most of the gift opening.”

Bo wrapped his arm around her waist, starting to lead her towards the living room. “Not the most important ones.”

Nora looked at him puzzled and he smiled back at her innocently. He was right. Not the most important ones. It was time. She tugged at his arm. “Speaking of gifts, I need your help with one.”

He nodded. “Okay. Sure.”

Nora took his hand with both of hers, pulling him away from the living room. Bo let her lead him into the library. She closed the double doors behind them.
“What is it?” he asked, looking around. “Something for Matthew?”

She moved away from him, reaching into her skirt pocket and then turning to face him, holding the heart necklace out in front of her. “For all of us.” He stared at the necklace, dangling out between them. “What you said to me in the barn house four months ago is true. You are my heart just as much as I own yours. And not time or other people or being apart has ever changed that. No one but you can or ever will fill that place in my heart that makes it whole.” She paused a second, holding the necklace against her chest. “Your heart over mine. It’s a perfect fit.” She shook the necklace at him gently. “Its time, Bo. Would you?”

Bo moved to her slowly, reaching out and taking the necklace from her hand. Without a word, he circled the necklace around her neck, locking the clasp, resting his hands on her shoulders. She reached up and placed her hands over his, closing her eyes and leaning back into him. He kissed the side of her neck, turning her gently and closing his mouth over hers. The kiss was soft and gentle and she pulled from him, resting her forehead against his. “Merry Christmas, Bo.”

He pushed his lips to hers again, mumbling back. “Merry Christmas, Nora.”

She twisted her arms up around his neck, covering his mouth with hers. The kiss was strong and full. He could have moved her to the sofa had they not been interrupted by a quick knock and Renee’s voice.

“Hey you two,” Renee said, from behind the closed doors. “Are you decent?”

Nora chuckled as Bo responded. “Not if you had given me two more minutes.”

Renee stuck her head in the door, seeing them in each others arms. “What did I say about quick hellos? Enough of that all ready. I believe your son is waiting on you.”

Nora smiled at her as Bo pulled away from Nora’s mouth, settling on taking Nora’s hand and following Renee towards the living room.

Meanwhile, Matthew paced nervously around the living room, constantly checking his back pants pocket. The envelope was still there. He looked towards the doorway, waiting. He knew Bo was here, his grandmother had said so. Asa watched the boy, finally reaching out and grabbing him, guiding him to the sofa. “You pacing so much is starting to make your ole grandpa dizzy. Sit.”

Matthew sat on the edge of the sofa, glancing towards the door again. “Sorry grandpa.”

Asa followed Matthew’s gaze. “He’ll be here in a minute. Your grandma just went to round them up.” Asa took Matthew’s face in his hands, leaning in and whispering in his ear. At that moment, Bo and Nora appeared at the doorway. They stood for a moment, unnoticed, Bo’s arm around Nora’s waist, Nora leaning against him, her hand at her throat, fingering the heart necklace with her thumb and forefinger. They both were watching Matthew, sitting next to Asa, their heads together in whispered conversation. Nora glanced at Bo who was watching Matthew. She smiled to herself, running her hand absently on his chest. Asa glanced over at them and flicked his thumb and forefinger at them as if shooting them, tapping Matthew’s chest and then standing, moving to the fireplace. Matthew glanced over his shoulder and saw them. He met Bo’s eyes and they exchanged smiles.

Asa called for his family’s attention, silencing them with a wave of his hand. He beckoned for Matthew to come and stand next to him. Matthew walked over to where Asa was standing. Asa pointed to the ottoman, instructing Matthew to stand up on it.

Bo leaned towards Nora and whispered. “What’s going on?”

Nora shrugged, staring at her son. “Got me.”

Asa leaned in to Matthew. “It’s your show, cowboy.”

Matthew nodded as Asa moved away to stand next to Kevin and Renee, leaving Matthew standing on the ottoman by himself. “Thanks grandpa.” Matthew pulled the white envelope from his back pocket, staring down at it for a second. When he looked up, all of the Buchanans were staring back at him. He looked around the room at them, his eyes settling on Bo. He took a few deep breaths and spoke. “I guess you’re all wondering what’s going on.”

They all smiled at him, which made him feel a little less nervous. “If you give me a minute, I’ll try and explain.” Matthew paused, looking down at the envelope again. “I know this is my first Buchanan Christmas and I wanted it to be special. My mom had to help me pick out presents for all of you and I hope you like them.” There were soft murmurs of yes and thank you as Matthew continued. “But there was one present she couldn’t help me with; one I had to do by myself.”
Again he glanced over at Bo. “When Sam died, I was really, really sad. My heart felt really empty inside, like there was a great big hole in it. I never thought I would be happy again. My mom tried to help, but she’s a girl, and sometimes a guy just needs another guy to talk to, you know?”

Nora still had her hand on Bo’s chest and felt him tense as Matthew spoke. She glanced up at him and he was staring at Matthew. She looked over at their son and he was staring at Bo.

Matthew now spoke directly to Bo. “And that’s when you came into my life. You started to fill that hole in my heart. It was like a perfect fit.” Matthew paused, swallowing hard as he continued. “Then I found out that you were my father. I was really confused. I thought you had lied to me. So many things didn’t make sense to me. I wasn’t sure who I was, or who you were, or who I was supposed to be. The hole in my heart got bigger and it hurt so much and felt so empty, I ran away.”

Everyone in the room was looking between Bo and Matthew. Matthew never took his eyes off of Bo. “I know I scared you and mom when I did that. And I’ll never do it again. But I met someone who told me to trust my heart and to give you a chance. But it was really hard to do that because I was really mad at you and my heart still hurt. I didn’t want to give you a chance. But you wouldn’t give up. Even when I told you I hated you and tried to push you away, you wouldn’t let me. You told me that no matter what, you would always love me. You told me about what was in your heart and tried to help me see what was in mine. That’s when I knew we were the same.

Matthew paused again, reaching the hardest part of what he wanted to say, what he had to say. “I finally figured out what my heart was trying to tell me; that even though I love Sam and I’m always going to miss him, its time to be who I really am, who I was meant to be, who I want to be.” Matthew heaved a nervous sigh, looking down at the envelope. “I thought long and hard about this present. I knew this one had to be special, had to be just right.” Matthew looked up and extended the envelope out towards Bo. “Here. This is for you.”

Bo looked at Matthew a bit confused, slowly walking over to where Matthew was standing on the ottoman. “What is it, son?”

Matthew shook the envelope slightly towards Bo. “It’s your Christmas present. Open it.”

Bo took the envelope from Matthew’s hand, looking at the single three letter word written on the white paper. His eyes connected with Matthew’s once more before he slowly turned the envelope over and lifted the unsealed tab. He pulled out the single sheet of paper, staring at it. The other Buchanan’s were calling out to him.

“What is it, Bo?” asked Joey.

“Yeah, what is it?” echoed Jessica.

“Come on Uncle Bo, read it,” called Natalie.

Bo continued to look at the paper in his hand, responding to the calls, the full reality of what he was reading not quite sinking in. “It's Matthew’s birth certificate.”

Asa was standing next to Kevin with a slight grin on his face, his arms folded across his chest in a way he had passed on to every other Buchanan man in his family. “What’s it say, Bo?”

Bo glanced over at Nora who was still standing in the door way. She appeared just as confused as Bo. “Matthew’s name has been changed to Buchanan.”

Nora walked slowly to Bo’s side, looking down at the paper in his hand before looking up quickly at Matthew with disbelief. The gathered family members were clapping their hands. Bo continued softly. “And my name is listed as your father.”

Matthew was staring intently at Bo. “What do you think?” whispered Matthew. “Do you like it?”

Bo couldn’t pull his eyes from the paper. “It’s perfect.” He looked up at his small son. “But, how did you do this?”

Matthew glanced quickly over at Kevin who was standing next to Asa. “Friends in high places,” Matthew responded. Matthew looked back at Bo. “Being a Buchanan means never having to be alone in the world and always having someone to watch your back. And for me, that starts with you. I’m proud to be a Buchanan and your son.” Bo was staring back at the document in his hand. “Merry Christmas, Dad.”

Bo looked up at Matthew, meeting his eyes. “This is the second best present I ever got in my life.” Matthew looked at him confused. Bo reached out and cupped Matthew’s face in his hand. “Finding out you are my son was the best.”

Matthew smiled at him relieved, leaning in and wrapping his arms around Bo’s neck, resting his chin on Bo’s shoulder. “I love you, Dad.”

Bo wrapped his arms around Matthew, lifting him off of the ottoman. “I love you, too, son. More than you’ll ever know.”

Matthew looked at his mother from his father’s arms, smiling at her. “This was better than some stupid tie.”

Nora gave out a quick laugh, circling her arms around her two men. “Yes, Matthew, this was much better than some stupid tie.”

Bo looked between them. “What stupid tie?”

Nora smiled at her son, thinking of the tie she had put under their tree at home. “It’s a long story.”

Matthew smirked at his mother. “Told you I had it covered.”

Nora nodded, touching his face gently. “Yeah, you did.”
Bo put Matthew back down on the ottoman, reaching into his coat pocket, pulling out a small box. He extended the box to Matthew. “Here. This is for you.”

Matthew took the box from Bo, opening it. Bo’s face was close to Matthew’s. “What do you think, son?”

Matthew looked up at Bo. “Is this for real?”

Nora was standing beside Bo, unable to see the contents of the box. “What is it?”

Renee called out to them. “Is anyone going to tell us what it is?”

Matthew looked around the room quickly. “It’s a note. It says ‘Red is yours’.”

Nora looked at Bo in disbelief, who was still looking at Matthew. “Your horse? You gave Matthew your horse?”

Matthew glanced over at her before looking back at Bo. “But she’s yours.” Matthew stammered.

Bo smiled, shaking his head. “Not anymore. She’s been yours for a long time, now. You take good care of her.” He glanced at Nora quickly. “Besides, I already have a Red to take care of.”

Matthew hugged Bo again. “This is the best Christmas ever.”

Nora leaned in kissed the side of Bo’s face. “Let’s get this Buchanan home. Santa is on his way.”

Matthew smiled at his mother. “I think Santa all ready was here.”

Bo hugged Matthew to him, reaching for Nora’s hand. “I think Santa might have a few more gifts yet to deliver.”

When they arrived back at the barn house, Bo carried the sleeping Matthew up to his room and returned to Nora, who was all ready starting to fill the floor under the Christmas tree with presents. They had managed to avoid heated contact since they 'almost' in the stall on Thanksgiving Day. But the sexual tension that had always existed between them was at its peak. Yet they worked together quickly and quietly, whispering as they passed each other loaded with gifts.

“How much more is there?” Bo asked incredulously.

“It’s our first Christmas together, I wanted it to be special,” Nora answered.

Bo’s response was sarcastic. “And you say Asa spoils Matthew?”

Nora paused long enough to raise her eyebrows at him. “You’re one to talk, Mr. Horse giver. Nothing under this tree will top that.”

Bo smiled with some self satisfaction. “Yeah, well, my gift doesn’t need an addition built to accommodate it. Between you and Asa, I’ll have to have extra rooms built for all of his new stuff.”

Nora smiled smugly. “That might be nice.” Bo rolled his eyes at her.

When they finished, the floor was covered with presents. Nora went to Bo’s side, wrapping both arms around his waist, looking up at the tree. He smiled at her in his arms, moving his hand to her throat and fingering the necklace. “This was unexpected.” He tapped her chin lightly. “I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. Thanks, Red.”

She returned his smile, noticing his use of her nickname had come as naturally as if he had never stopped calling her by it. The look on his face when she had held the necklace out to him had told her she had caught him off guard. After all the stunts he had pulled the past few months; the handcuffs, the limo, the barn house; she smiled and spoke with a tone of self satisfaction, as if she had FINALLY one upped him. “I can still catch you by surprise.”

He moved a few steps from her, stuffing his hand in his pants pocket, rubbing his chin with his other hand, mumbling his agreement. “Umm Hmm.”

She looked at him, his expression unreadable. “But I’ve never rendered you speechless before. Are you okay?”

He turned from her slightly, pulling his hand from his pants pocket before turning back to her. Without a word, he flipped open the small box. The heart shaped diamond glittered at her from the red velvet box. She just stared at it. “I have a few surprises myself,” he whispered to her. She was still staring at the ring. “Marry me.” She looked up at him, still unable to speak. He continued his proposal. “I was going to wait until tomorrow, but after this,” he said, fingering the necklace at her neck, “I can’t wait any longer. Its time. I love you, Nora. So what do you say? You ready to give us another go?” She smiled at him as a tear rolled down her face.
He wiped it gently with his thumb, kissing where the tear just lay on her cheek. “Is that a yes?” he asked.

She nodded slightly, finding her voice. “Yes.”

He slipped the ring on her finger, kissing her hand and then pulling her face to his, kissing her gently, pulling her into his chest. “Merry Christmas, Nora.”

She twisted her arms up around his neck, bringing her face in close to his. “I love you,” she whispered, moving her mouth over his.

He let her tongue play with his a second before pulling back slightly. “Do you know how long I’ve waited to hear you say that?”

She nodded slightly. “Do you know how long I’ve wanted to say it?”

He nodded back at her, covering her mouth again with his. He started to move them to the sofa, wanting to show her how much he loved her. But in setting up the Christmas tree, they had to rearrange some of the furniture and the ottoman which had been so conveniently moved out of the way, had suddenly become an obstacle and the two of them crashed onto it, ending up on the floor and rolling, Bo on top. Their faces were so close; he could feel her breath against his face.

Bo was breathing heavily, partly from the fall, partly from the fear of her falling with him. “Are you okay?” he whispered.

She nodded slowly, breathing just as heavily as he was. Her hands were against his chest, staring into those incredible blue eyes. Neither one of them made a motion to move. Bo slowly moved his mouth down to cover hers, never taking his eyes from her eyes. The surge as their lips touched was overwhelming. Her lips were softer than he had remembered. He pulled back quickly, keeping his mouth just a whisper on hers, tracing the outline of her lips with his tongue. He could feel her breath shudder in his mouth. He pulled back again, looking at her eyes intently, looking for something there. And then he saw it; the light in her eyes, the beacon, calling him home. This was their time. He took her mouth again, this time hungrily, his tongue, probing hers. He wanted to taste all of her. His mouth moved, over her cheeks, her eyes, next to her ears, along side her throat, and then back to her mouth, his hands curled in her hair. He could feel the warmth of her skin through her silk blouse and his desire to touch her bare skin was overwhelming him. He rolled them both, pulling her on top of his body, their mouths never parting. He slid his hands under her blouse and up her smooth back, giving in to his need to feel her skin.

She moved her hands over his chest, pulling at the buttons on his shirt, wanting to feel his skin, wanting to get closer. He slid his hands up her sides, pulling her blouse up towards her head, pushing the silk teddie along with the rest of the blouse material, pulling from her lips long enough to pull the blouse and teddie over her head. He discarded them and then rolled them both again, shifting his body back on top of hers, their mouths never parting through the roll of their bodies.
She had managed between rolling from top to bottom, to get his shirt totally unbuttoned and he kneeled up over her to remove it, quickly returning his lips to hers, his bare chest against her bare breasts. He moved from her mouth to her neck, her soft moans edging him on, his hands covering her breasts. His desire for her was rising and he knew if continued, he wouldn’t be able to stop and he whispered in her ear.

“Nora, honey, I don’t want to do this here.” She looked at him, confused. “I want you in our bed.” He stood, pulling her up and lifting her off the floor with him, wrapping both arms around her, pulling her close, kissing her passionately, moving them both slowly towards the stairs.

Somehow he had maneuvered them up the stairs and towards the master bedroom. He guided them by memory to the side of the bed, kissing her lips, the side of her neck, the base of her throat and down towards her breasts where their heart necklace lay. He again slid his hands to her waist, unclipping the skirt, allowing it to fall at their feet. He slid his hands into the back of her silk panties, slowly sliding them down her legs, his lips and tongue following the path his hands had just taken.
She had managed to unbuckle his belt as he was concentrating on her skirt and his pants fell easily off his slender hips. She ran her hands up his thighs and over the front of his silk boxers, feeling his hardness, before sliding her hands around his waist and inside the back of them, pulling them down off his body.

They stood there, naked, each lost in the kiss of the other. Bo moved his hand to the small of her back, gently leaning his body into hers, until they both fell gently onto their bed. His tongue and mouth continued to explore her, moving from her mouth to her neck to her breasts, settling there, suckling her hard nipple with an urgency to satisfy his six year absence. She cradled his head in her hands as he hungered there, the tug of his lips filling his need, she arching her back against him to fill her own, wanting to satisfy them both.

He got lost in her, barely hearing her moans, moving his mouth from one nipple to the other, trying to satisfy his six-year thirst. He moved his hand down her hips, through the coarse hair, finding her moist center. He probed her with his hand, feeling her arch against him. She pulled up on his face, kissing him hard, whispering, “Bo, I want you.”

He moved his face beside hers, nuzzling her neck, whispering back, “Be patient, Red.” She arched her back against him again, not knowing how much further up he could take her before she peaked. His hand and his tongue were causing her skin and her body to feel on fire. She could feel him hard against her thigh, and she ached for him. She whispered his name against his cheek and he entered her, slowly, her legs instantly wrapping around him, her hands on his hips, pulling him deeper and deeper inside her.

He buried his face in her neck, his hands cupping her breasts, his hips slowly thrusting against her, her back and hips arching against his body, matching him thrust for thrust. His need for her was overwhelming him and he moved his hands to her hips, pulling her body into his, plunging into her further. The simmering heat of their passion had risen to a boil, causing their love to ignite until they both erupted like a live volcano.

Bo lay on top of her, spent, unable to move. He could feel her heart beating wildly against his chest, his heart matching hers, beat for beat. They were both breathing heavily and he knew the weight of him must be overwhelming her and he tried to roll from her, but she held him tightly to her, whispering, “stay.”

Bo tried to shift his weight from her, whispering, his breathing coming in quick gasps. “I must be heavy, let me make you comfortable.”

Nora held onto him tighter. “No – don’t move yet.” It felt right, his warmth, his smell, supporting his weight against her body.

He had slid his arms under her back, able to lift his weight off her slightly by using his forearms against the mattress of the bed. Bo lifted his head to look at her, smiling at her, his breathing still a bit labored. “I love you.” The words seemed inadequate after what had just happened between them.

She smiled back at him, tears swimming in her eyes, her breathing just as labored as his. “And I love you.”

He shook his head slightly. “You don’t understand. I need you to understand.” He said the words again, slowly. “I - love - you.” He looked into her eyes. “You are my heart, my partner, you are my love. You alone know what’s in my soul. I love you so much that I feel incomplete without you.”

Nora couldn’t speak. Her tears came slowly. His simple words had described what they were to each other, what they had been, what they would always be; soul mates. She hugged him to her. “And you are all those things to me and one more. You are the father of my child.”

He saw her tears. “Are you okay?” he asked her, his face but a whisper from hers.

Nora looked deep into his clear blue eyes and nodded, her voice was deep and throaty. “I’m great.” She had ‘almost’ forgotten how wonderful it was between them; ‘Almost.’ She did remember how his touch could somehow penetrate not only her heart, but into her soul; that their love-making took her beyond anything she had ever felt in her whole life. She had missed him and those feelings and she wanted to feel it all again, now. She was moving her hands up and down his back, caressing him, sliding her hands from the top of his neck, to his shoulders, down to his waist, to his hips, starting to slowly move against him. He could feel himself growing hard inside her again and he called her name. “Nora, wait.”

She pulled his face down to hers, whispering, “Just go with me,” and their mouths met hard. This time, their climax came fast and intense, leaving them both shaken.
He could feel his tears swelling in his eyes and he couldn’t look at her, resting his head against her chest. “She owned him,” he thought, his tears falling onto her breast. “She owned him heart and soul and leaving her all those years ago didn’t change that. Couldn’t.” He wrapped both arms around her waist tightly, burying his face against her bare breast.

Nora felt his warm tears against her skin and she tried to pull his face towards her. “Bo, sweetheart, look at me.”
Bo fought against her tug. “I can’t,” came his tear filled voice.

Nora cradled him against her. “Its all right now, we’re all right now, we’re home.”

“Just hold me, Red,” Bo sobbed, his tears coming freely. It had been a long journey, for them both. “And never let me go.”

Nora tightened her arms around him and whispered to him softly. “Never again. You’re home.”

The End
