Last time:

Bo rose up and softly kissed her forehead and then he looked into her eyes. He gently wiped her tears.

B: I’m so glad that you’re here. I care about you very much Nora. I would never want to see you hurt again and I’ll do anything to make sure you never will.

Nora smiled and Bo went towards the door. When he opened the door, Nora called him. He turned around and looked at her. She had a small smile on her face.

N: Matthew is so lucky to have you as his dad. And so am I, Bo.

Bo smiled at her and went out the room. Nora sank into her bed and burst out tears again. She never in her life felt so disgusted as she did now. Remembering the severe beating, his touch on her body, his brutal way to get a revenge, the determine look in his eyes to make her pay for what he claimed she did to him, scared her to death. She knew it wasn’t over yet. She shrank her body and wrapped her arms around her stomach and started to cry like a baby.

Bo walked in the hospital’s hall as he saw his cop nearing him and he stopped.

B: Is there any progression in the investigation?

COP: Well, I think you’re not going to love it, Commissioner...
*******************************
B: What do you mean I’m not going to love it?

COP: I’m sorry, commissioner, we looked all over the house, we did our best, but we came up with nothing. The man is professional. He didn’t leave any evidence after him...

Bo looked at his cop. He could feel his anger rising up through his stomach to his throat. How could it be?? He was not going to let this bastard go free. He was so darn angry!

B: How can that be?? How could you screw up like that? I thought I told you to do anything in your power to catch him, I can’t believe this!

The cop looked at Bo. He knew Bo was angry because he cared about Nora. Everyone could see the connection between them if they just looked. He knew Bo was getting his anger out on him because he had to get it out on someone.

COP: I’m sorry, commissioner, I know how much Ms. Buchanan means to you and how much you want to catch this man, but I assure you and swear to you in my badge, that we did everything we could, but like I already said, this man is clever, he made sure he wasn’t leaving anything behind him.

Bo took a minute to restrain his feelings. The pain, the anger, the hatred, the disappointment. He took a deep breath.

B: I’m sorry I yelled at you. I’m sure you did all you could do. Thank you. I guess we’ll have a lot of work catching this son of a bitch now.

COP: And again, I assure you that all the cops are behind you, we will catch him, commissioner.

B: Thank you.

Bo patted his shoulder and the cop left. He sat down and leaned his head down on his knees. He could see Nora’s eyes when she realized she was raped. He could read each one of her expressions. The disgust, the fear, the pain, just everything. And it made him feel disappointed but even more determined. He would do anything in his power to find this man that threats his family. And he wasn’t going to give up until he finds him and make him pay for the pain he caused his family. To his son and to his...well, to his best friend, the mother of his son. He got up and walked towards the cafeteria. He figured that Nora wasn’t able to sleep anyways and he hoped that her appetite was still sharp as always, although he knew it was low shoot. He carried cup of coffee, ice cream and other stuff he knew Nora loved and headed towards Nora’s room. He knocked on her door and when she answered in broken voice he opened the door and walked in. He could see that she was crying. He slowly neared her bed and sat beside her.

B: Can’t sleep, huh? I brought you food.

He softly smiled and could see she was not in the mood. Her tears never stopped.

B: Hey, I’ve got here all your favorites!

He shoved the bag of the food. She didn’t respond. She just looked at him. And then a small smile appeared on her face. She still had that look in her eyes that broke his heart, but at least she could manage a smile.

N: Thank you, Bo. I appreciate it, but I’m not hungry...

B: C’mon, you’ve got to eat something..

N: I’m ok, really...

Bo stared at her and gave her that `ok?-yeah-right!-who’s- you’re-kidding?` look. She stared back and noticed his look. Her tears fell down again.

N: Ok, so I’m not ok, ok? It’s just that...

B: That’s alright, Nora, you don’t have to explain, I just want to be there for you.

Nora nodded her head. She was grateful to Bo. But there were so many things running into her mind. The images, the thoughts, the feelings. She needed time. To think. To cope.

N: I just need time, Bo. Everything happens so fast. I know you want to help and I’m more than grateful to you.

Bo softly smiled. At least she admitted she wasn’t ok. That was the first step. At least she didn’t shut him out completely. He gently squeezed her hand. Assuring her that he already knew that. He took a deep breath and leaned back against his chair. His smile already faded away. He hated to let her down again. Nora looked at him and she could say that something was wrong.

N: What’s happening, Bo? Your eyes telling me that something is wrong..

Bo swallowed. He wasn’t sure it was the best to tell her the truth. He didn’t want to see that look in her eyes when she realizes he failed her down. She had too many things on her mind right now and it wouldn’t be fair to tell her that the man who did all of this to her was still free out there and he didn’t have the slightest lead where he was or who he was.

B: Nothing. I’m just worried about you.

He couldn’t lie to her. She could always read his eyes. She knew there was more than he was telling her. And it wasn’t good news.

N: Bo, don’t lie to me! The last thing I need right now, is lies! It’s about him, right? It’s about this..

She couldn’t even call him in names without feel the anger rising up inside her. Bo didn’t answer but she already knew the answer.

N: Just tell me the truth, Bo!

But his eyes already told her the truth. She turned her look, her eyes shifted around the room and then wrapped her arms around her belly. She brought her knees to her chest and wept. Bo went to her and wrapped his arms around her. She cried against his body.

B: I’m sorry, Nora, but whoever he was, he was clever enough not to leave any evidence behind him.. my cops didn’t find anything that can tell us who he was... or where is he now.

N: For God’s sake, he’s still free, waiting for me, for another chance..

B: Not if my life depends on that. He will not get near you, Nora. Never again. I swear.

She straightened up and pulled away from Bo`s arms. She wiped her tears and took a deep breath.

B: I’m going to talk to Larry, maybe we can use the rape test he did to you.. he must have found something...

N: You will just waste your time because you’ll find nothing. He meant what he was saying..

B: What are you talking about?

Nora felt her anger and pain coming out her throat. She burst out tears and snapped out on Bo.

N: He said he wasn’t going to leave any evidence behind.. he used protection for God’s sake. The rape test won’t help you. Nothing will. We will never find him.. never..

Bo paused for a moment, tried to restrain his own pain and anger. This son of a bitch, he thought, he just wished he could put his hands on him and kill him. He tried to control his feeling and took deep breath and straightened up.

B: Look, Nora, I talked to your parents earlier and we think it would be the best if you and Matthew go to visit them for while.

Nora looked angrily at Bo. She couldn’t believe he talked to her parents without telling her first.
N: What? You had no right to call them Bo.

B: I just want you and Matthew to be in a safe place until we catch this man. I only want yours and Matt’s best.

N: I can take care of myself, Bo. And as far as for Matt’s concern, I know what best for him, so don’t tell me that taking him away is the best for him. He’s my son and I’ll do anything for his sake.

B: He’s my son too, remember? And I want the best for him too. I know you love him, Nora, but I don’t think you think clearly now. You didn’t hear his voice or saw his face after he found you. He was terrified, Nora. He thought you were dead and he was scared to death and he still is. He was hysterical after he found you lying on the floor, unconscious with your clothes torn up and blood covered your body. He needs to get away from here, from your house, for a while. And so do you. At least until it be safe again for you.

Nora slowly wiped her tears from her face. She knew that Bo was right. She couldn’t imagine how difficult it was for Matthew to find her. Her little baby was in pain. And she needed to make him safe again.

N: Ok. I guess you’re right. It will be good for Matthew to spend some time with my parents and he will be safe there. But I’m staying, Bo. I don’t go anywhere. I can’t.

B: Nora..

N: No, don’t `Nora me`, I appreciate your concern but..

B: No. Hold on. Don’t say `but` just yet. You’re a grown woman. You’ve been on your own for years. I know that. You don’t want your parents to watch after you. I understand that, I really do, but I can’t say I like the idea of you living out there, not in that house where...

He paused. He just couldn’t get the words out of his mouth. He just couldn’t say what that man did to her without feeling he was going to explode.

N: But I have too. You see, it doesn’t matter if I am at home or in Chicago at my parents, I remember it wherever I am. Staying here it proves me I can face it. I can live with it. I’m not afraid of him. I won’t let myself. I can’t let him ruin my life more than he already did. I can’t run away and hide. I won’t do it. I’m going to face my fears. I hope you understand that, but even if you don’t or can’t, it my decision to make. I agree it will be the best for Matthew but I’m staying.

Bo softly smiled to her.

B: You’re sure about that, right? There is no way I can change your mind?

N: No.

B: Ok, but there is no way you stay alone in that house. I understand you want to stay, but if you stay there I’m going to have someone watches you 24 hours..

Nora cut him off; again anger was sounded in her voice.

N: Bo, I don’t need or want someone to watch me 24 hours at day. It will just make me more nervous, knowing that someone is after me all the time.. watching me.

B: Ok, so I’m moving into your house.

Nora looked at him surprisingly. The last thing she wanted was Bo moving into her house, looking after her like she was little baby.

N: No way, Bo.

B: I’m serious, Nora, I’m not going to leave you alone there, you can always go back to your parents with Matthew, it’s your decision to make.

N: But what about Gabby?

B: Don’t worry about her, ok?

Nora took a deep breath. She couldn’t go to Chicago. She couldn’t run away, although it was what she wanted to do. She needed to be strong enough and face her fears, thoughts, and feelings. She exhaled.

N: Ok, ok, I give up, but you’re not going to stay with me all the time, only in the nights, clear?

B: We’ll discuss it later.

He rose up and softly kissed her forehead.

B: Right now, I should go home to our son and to arrange everything for his vacation at his grandparents.

Nora smiled sadly. She didn’t want to leave her son now. She needed and wanted to be with him. To hold him. Bo could see the sadness in her eyes. He knew she didn’t want to be separated from her son, especially not now. He softy smiled to her and squeezed her hand.

B: It is the best thing for him, Nora.

N: I know. Thank you, Bo.

Bo smiled again.

B: Try to get some sleep, ok? You need it.

N: Tell Matthew I love him and miss him. And give him a good night kiss from me, will ya?

Bo nodded. She softly smiled and he turned towards the door. When he opened it he turned to look at her again.

B: Oh, and by the way, I do and can understand you, Nora.

They smiled and a tear rolled down her face. He walked away.

The next afternoon Nora was released and Bo offered to take her home. When she walked into her house and stood near the door staring at the mess around the living room she felt her body shaking. She bit her lip and then brought her trembling hand to her mouth. She slowly stepped forward. Bo watched any one of her moves.

B: You sure you’re ready for this?

N: I’m staying. I’m cleaning him out of this place and staying. I hope he knows that. I hope he knows I’m not giving up.

B: I wish I didn’t admire you for it. Make it easier to bully you into doing things my way.

He smiled and she smiled back. Without talking, Bo turned on soft music and started to pick up the furniture from the floor. She looked at him. They didn’t need to talk. The silence talked for them. Their eyes talked for them. They worked together for an hour.
Cleaning, washing. Clearing away any single memory of that nightmare. The music drifted through the house, into her head, distracting her mind enough to keep her from thinking of what he did to her there.

B: Feel better?

N: Yes. Considerably.

B: I’m glad. Now, why don’t you get some rest? You look exhausted.

N: Well, I guess you’re right. I am exhausted.

But Nora knew she wouldn’t be able to close her eyes without seeing him. She was so tired, but she was afraid to close her eyes. She didn’t want to see him again. Never again. But she also didn’t want Bo to know that. He was worried about her enough and she didn’t want him dance around her the whole day.

N: You can sleep in the guest room.

B: Don’t worry about me, ok? Take care of yourself first. I’m a big boy.

Nora went upstairs. She took off her clothes and lay on her bed. She was exhausted and fell asleep before her head touched her pillow.

"She gasped, fought not to cry out when he yanked her hair back with his free hand and the rough of his fingers scraped like a burn over the side of her throat. `please leave me, don’t hurt me, I beg you`. Tears of pain leaked out of her eyes and made her voice rasp. The fury and hate rolling out of him almost smothered her. He shoved her away so her back hit the wall. She cried out. She was petrified. She wanted to run away from his grip. He stepped closer to her and pushed her on the bed. He was laughing and then he bent over her. He was on top of her. She could feel him breathing on her face. She fought her tears back and kept begging to him `please leave me, let me go.. please..`. She felt him pressing his body against hers and tried to struggle. The fear was wild inside of her. Huge. Choking. He hit her, hard. The pain was so sharp it rushed through her. He hit her again. She felt blood. She closed her eyes. She wanted to die. His body was heavy on hers. She wanted to scream. She wanted him to leave her alone. She cried out".

She straightened up as she let out a scream. Her eyes fluttered open. Her body was wet from her sweat, her face from her tears. She brought her knees to her chest, wrapped her arms around them and leaned her head down. Crying. Bo flew the door open and burst into her room. His heart broke to pieces when he saw her. He felt his own tears in his eyes. He slowly stepped towards her bed. He sat beside her and laid his hand down her shoulder. Her first instinct was to shove him away from her. He gently tried to reach to her again.

B: Hey, Nora, it’s me, Bo. It’s just me..

She picked up her head and looked into his blue eyes. She saw pain in them but she also saw comfort.
Protection. Concern. She clung to his body and wept.

N: Help me, please help me, Bo..

To be continued...
