A CHARMED LIFE - PART 5
Bo spends the next few hours running to different stores and making dinner arrangements.
Nora comes home at 5:30 and finds the house full of candles and flowers, with some of their favorite songs playing.
N: What the?
Bo comes out of the kitchen wearing a tuxedo. He hands her a single red rose.
N: Bo, what have you done?
B: I thought we'd eat in again tonight. Hope you don't mind.
N: Mind?!? It's amazing!! Just look at this room. Hey, how'd you get in here?
B: I picked the lock.
N: You picked the lock? I don't believe it!
B: Don't worry I have an in with the police commissioner.
N: I forgot how ingenious you could
be. Well, the dinner smells delicious and you look great! I'm
underdressed
though.
B: You're perfect, Nora. I will confess to not cooking the dinner. I had the Palace prepare it. And if you don't mind, I'd like to change out of this monkey suit. I only did it for effect. I have a change of clothes.
N (disappointed): Well, I did always love you in a tuxedo, but if you'll be more comfortable go ahead and change.
B: Great!! Sit down and relax, I'll be right back.
Nora runs to the mirror to fix her hair and her makeup. She can't believe this is happening. She calls Matthew's friend's parents to make sure he is okay and then she sits back on the couch with a glass of wine.
Bo comes up behind her and rubs her shoulders.
B: Comfortable?
N: Mmmm, definitely. Thank you for all of this. It's wonderful!
B: It's my pleasure. You can keep the candles by the way since you don't have any.
N: Thanks, smarty! But I truly couldn't find any. I always associate candles with romance anyway and I really had no need for them in that department.
B: Well, maybe that will change.
They start to kiss, more and more slow and fast, slow .until the timer dings from the kitchen.
N: Saved by the bell.
They laugh.
B: I'm throwing that thing out the window!
N (laughing): Let's eat.
After dinner, they sit down on the couch with some wine and just take in the ambiance of the room.
N: That was a wonderful dinner. My compliments to the chef. Oops!! I forgot you're not the chef.
B (laughing): Can I accept it for him?
N: Sure ..I feel silly.
B: Huh? Why?
N: I don't know. This just feels so right. Like nothing ever changed.
B: And that makes you feel silly?
N: Maybe I had too much wine?
They laugh.
B: I don't think so. Nora, can I say something really forward?
N: I don't know. Can you?
B (laughing): I'm serious!
N (laughing): Then say it!
B (he clears his throat): I I..really want to make love to you .right here, right now, -all night.
N: Whoa!! That is forward!
She gets up from the couch and walks around the room.
B: Nora, I'm sorry I knew I shouldn't have said that, it's just .
N: No, it's okay. This is all happening so fast.
B: I think I should go.
N: No, please stay. You can't say something like that and then leave!
B: I know, but now I feel silly.
They both sit back on the couch. Nora grabs Bo's arm and puts it around her neck and shoulders.
N: Don't feel silly. Is this really how you feel?
B: Yes! It's how I really feel. Jeez, I wouldn't just say that.
N: You really need to work on your technique.
B (surprised): You always loved my technique.
N: Well, it's been a long time for us, Bo.
He smiles and starts to kiss her neck.
B: But some things come right back. You know, like riding a bike. Let's go upstairs.
N: Lead the way.
B: Nora, I love you. This isn't just about sex right now.
N: I know. And I love you too.
The next morning Nora finds a black box on Bo's pillow. At the same time, he comes in the room with some coffee.
B: Hey sexy! Coffee?
N: Hi, Bo. I'd love some. What's this?
B: Open it.
Nora opens the box. It is a number 3 charm.
N: Three? What's the significance of 3 for us?
B: Okay, here's my take on it. The third time's the charm, right? Well, the 3 stands for the three years we've been apart or you, me, Matthew - that's three, um and it could stand for the number of big rocks that had to fall on my head before I wised up and got you back into my life! I don't know! It could be anything you want it to be.
Nora is half crying, half-laughing.
N: I love it!!! Thank you, Bo. It's so special. Three will be our lucky number from now on. I love you.
B: I love you too, Red. Forever.
N: Come back to bed.
B: Gladly.
THE END ;-)
