Confrontation, Part 1

(Takes place after the fake wedding and after Kevin wins Lt. Gov...Bo and Nora are at Asa's and Bo is not a happy camper!)

She followed him out into Asa’s front entry. She needed to talk to him after what he had just said about trust.
“Bo, wait.”

“Nora, I’ve got to get out of here, it’s been a long day.”

“Bo, please stop, talk to me.”

He stopped and she continued, “Bo, I’m sorry that what I did with Sam...”

“Nora, I don’t have the energy for this conversation right now,” he interrupted, the frustration evident in his voice.

“Bo Buchanan, shut up and let me finish! You’ve made it quite clear that you have no feelings for me, but I’m not the one locking us up in elevators and meat freezers, I’m not the one that said he was dying so we’d get married. If you don’t want me around, just say so, to my face and I’ll try to stay out of your way.” She was mad, and as usual, she couldn’t control her mouth.

“I don’t not want you around,” he said softly.

“Before I stepped in the living room you told your father that if he mentioned my name again you’d put him in the hospital! Not exactly the welcome wagon!”

Bo ran his hands through his hair, thinking of the words to explain, but all he could come up with was “You weren’t supposed to hear that.” He turned to face her, “Pa is shoving you down my throat and it’s forcing me to deal with feelings that I’ve pushed away for so many years. I’m sorry I said that, I didn’t mean it, at least not in the way you took it.”

She tried again, “Bo, I’m sorry my actions made you lose your trust in me and I’m sorry that I screwed up the best.....um...never mind.” She paused to collect her thoughts. “Bo, my biggest regret is that you can’t forgive me for all of that mess. But, we’ve been doing okay, haven’t we? We share Matthew; we both have a semblance of a social life...”

Bo walked through to the drawing room and sat down on a sofa, his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. Nora followed him, and sat across from him on the ottoman.

“Bo?” she asked softly, “please say something.”

He raised his head and met her eyes. “I have forgiven you Nora, a long, long time ago. We both made mistakes, we both screwed up.” He leaned forward to wipe away the tears from her cheeks, but once he realized what he was doing, pulled back and leaned against the sofa. “Pa’s and Matthew’s matchmaking attempts aren’t making things easier.”

“Matthew? What has he done?”

“Well, he’s not real found of Coulson, and makes comments to me all the time about him, not that I can disagree with him. And, remember a couple of weeks ago when you stayed with Matt and I? When I took him up to bed he told me that it’s not comfortable in the guest room and that I should ask you to stay in my room.”

“Why that little sneak! Where did he learn that?!?”

“I’m sure Pa coached him.”

“I’m sorry. If you need to spend less time with us for a while, I’d understand.”

“No, Matthew is an important part of my life, and I’m not going to stay away from him to make my life easier.”

She was taken aback at the last part of his statement.
“Bo, if this arrangement isn’t working for you, let’s figure out how to change it so it does.” She paused and guessed at what was making him uncomfortable, “Is it me that you need to spend less time with?”
