Confrontation....Part 3

Nora left Asa’s and went back to the station. She couldn’t stop herself from replaying what Bo had said over and over in her mind.

She ran into John and talked with him a bit, even joined him for dinner, but the drama continued to reel in her thoughts. Her every instinct was telling her to find Bo and finish their conversation.

Knocking on the door to his apartment, she didn’t know what to expect. He, on the other hand, apparently did.

As the door opened, he smiled, “Took you long enough, come on in.”

“I wasn’t sure you’d want to see me after...but, you know me.”

“Yeah, I know you.”

He was dressed comfortably, obviously in for the evening. “I’m glad you came by, I sort of wanted to apologize for earlier. I didn’t intend to sound so morbid. I just...”

“Bo, I understand, really I do.” She smiled, beginning to feel a little more comfortable, wanting him to feel more at ease as well. “I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said.”

“And?”

“And, I’ve decided I’m not going to let you do this.”

“Do what?”

“Cut me out of your life. Deny that we both still feel something for one another.”

“Nora, I couldn’t cut you out of my life if I tried.”

“But, Bo, you are.” She sat down on the couch, their couch, and rubbed the smooth leather. “We’re both running away from the past. We don’t talk about it. We’re uncomfortable with each other, and it doesn’t feel right.”

A little wary of where this conversation was headed, he asked, “So, what do you think we should do?”

“I think we should start to set aside time for us to see each other, just the two of us.”

“Nora, that’s called dating. And something tells me Daniel wouldn’t be too thrilled with the idea.

“We need to get to know each other again, to be comfortable with each other. Plus, I think we really need to deal with what happened in the past. And Bo, my relationship with you is a lot more important than any relationship I may have with Daniel.”

“Is this all for Matthew?” he asked, not sure he wanted to hear the answer.

“A part of it is, but most of it’s for me.”

“So what you’re saying is that you want to date me again?”

His expression was completely even, she couldn’t tell if he was flirting or being serious. She needed serious, so replied with, “I want us to spend time together, period. I don’t know anymore than that.”

“Ok, I think it’s a good idea.” He paused. “What are you going to tell Daniel?”

“I’m not sure, I haven’t gotten that far.”

“He doesn’t like me, you know.”

“You don’t like him either, so you’re even. Bo, this is not about other people, just you and me. Not Matthew, not Asa, not Daniel, and not Paige.”

He nodded, knowing she was right. They would either get back together or learn for certain that their time had passed.

She rose from the couch and headed toward the door. “I need to get home; I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

He followed her to the door and leaned against the frame watching her find her keys, “Thank you for coming by tonight. I’m looking forward to our...whatever.”

She smiled back at him, and leaned forward to kiss his cheek. “Goodnight, Bo.”

“Goodnight, Red.”
