Conspiracy part 2

Bo slowly swung his legs over the edge of the bed, the way he’d been doing for…for, well, for a while. His back still ached, but it was becoming increasingly more tolerable. He had lost track of how long he had been locked in this place, but he knew he had to keep walking and building his strength, he had to get out of here and he had to see if Nora was ok.

The last things he remembered from that terrible night were he was rushing back to tell her how stupid he had been, how he loved here, and as soon as all this nonsense with Will was over, how he wanted to work things out. Then everything went crazy. He remembered trying to get Nora out. She was pinned. He desperately tried to free her. Then suddenly the whole car shifted and he fell back. He too was now pinned. Through the smoke and darkness he kept calling her, trying to keep her awake, trying to keep himself awake. He saw movement, then he heard her call his name. He called out to her then everything went dark. Next thing he knew he was in a hospital somewhere. Doctors and nurses hovering over him, terrible pain searing through every part of his body, he couldn’t move his left arm or leg in the beginning. He didn’t remember who or when he was brought to where he was now. He did know that if Lindsey was involved, it wasn’t good.

He slowly regained the use of his arm, no thanks to his capture. He worked it himself. Now he was working on his leg. He was slowly but surely regaining the use of it. If he could steer clear of what ever drugs Lindsey was trying to give him, he knew he could keep his head clear.

He grabbed for the metal bed frame and pulled himself to a standing position.

Bo: Come on Buchanan…Asa didn’t raise a quitter. Little more work and you can get out of here.

He struggled to move his stiff leg forward. It was so weak, but he bit his lip and continued to pull the leg forward.

Bo: One…two…one…two. Oh God! (he grimaces) I have to get back to my life!

Rachel was finishing up putting away the dinner dishes. Nora was sitting at the table finishing her coffee.

Nora: Oh! Sweetie, you are a top notch chef! Those burritos were fabulous!

Rachel: It’s my specialty! Hey…are you really ok…with this whole thing with Bo? Him marrying Melanie and all?

Nora: Honey, you had a lot of valid points…

Rachel: Mom, Bo is severing all his ties with you. The biggest being the fact that even after the DNA proved Matthew was his son, he wants Sam to continue all parental responsibilities- that is a slap to the face, to you and Matthew.

Nora: I know. But in his defense, he has a good point. Sam is the only father Matt has ever known…he just didn’t want to traumatize him…

Rachel: Mom. You are not his lawyer! Stop defending him! He has turned into a real jerk. He doesn’t deserve you or Matthew. All he deserves is to marry into that psychotic family!

Nora: You’re right. I just wish I knew.

Rachel: Knew what?

Nora: Knew when you got so darn smart!

They hug.

Nora: Well, I guess when one is at the bottom, like I am, you have nowhere to go but up…

Rachel: You’ll be fine mom. You’ve got a new lease on life that doesn’t include that hundred seventy five pound anchor attached to your leg…So…are you going to see Colin tonight?

Nora: Stop you! No…He’s busy tonight. He said he would call me tomorrow. You wanna go see a movie or something?

Rachel: Let’s take Matt to see Pokemon and then for some ice cream.

Nora: Ugh! Not an hour and a half of that! Well, I guess I will just look at it as a learning experience. Rikki…whaddaya think if I severed the ties a bit more and went back to Nora Hanen?

Rachel: Mom, I think it’s a great start!

Nora: Get Matt’s jacket, I’ll get him!

At the gallery-

Colin: So…when’s he getting here?

Lindsey: He said seven…

Colin: You know what he wanted?

Lindsey: No.

Colin: Well, I say we ditch Kristoff after we get the money.

Lindsey: I say we ditch Kristoff, Melanie, Nora, and Bo…and you and I…

Colin sweeps her off her feet and carries her to the bedroom where he proceed to take his shirt off. Things start to heat up.

Kristoff: A-hem!

Lindsey: Bo! I mean Kristoff…You scared me!

Kristoff: I could make a bundle selling that on the internet…

Colin: So, whacha call this meeting for?

Kristoff: You guys are supposed to keep that Buchanan lawyer away from me…she is really annoying. Always wanting to hug me and stuff. And my Melanie is getting upset.

Lindsey: Colin I do believe you’ll have to keep your Scarlett a bit more under control…

Colin: Kristoff, she’s harmless

Kristoff: The only way she’s harmless is if she’s dead…Listen, there is way too much on the line here...for her to want her old man back.

Lindsey: Colin will take care of it.

Colin: What do you want from me?

Lindsey: A color and a leash would do nicely…

Colin: I’ll take care of it.

Kristoff: Great. Now, I ah, have to go get Melanie, she wants to go out…

Lindsey: Enjoy “Bo”! Give my regards to sister dearest!

Kristoff leaves

Lindsey: I have to go take care of Bo…he will be waking soon, I have to give him the medication

Colin: You can give it to him later. You have to take care of me…

He pulls her into a steamy kiss.

Bo gets the bedroom door unlocked, he wanders into the dimly lit apartment. He looks around to see if anything looks familiar. He wanders through the kitchen into the hall. He opens a closet and sees a bag of clothes. Upon opening the back, he realizes the contents contain the clothing he was wearing the night of the crash. His topcoat, his suit, shirt and shoes. All scorched and smelling of mildew. He takes the bag and continues into the living room where he tosses the bag on the sofa. He spies a newspaper on the coffee table. He picks it up, its The Banner, he looks through it. He realizes that he has been missing for almost a year.

Bo: My poor family. The hell they have gone through! Pa, Clint, Nora! They think I’m dead, and not even a body! Oh, Nora...I am sorry. I wanted to make it right by you...and now you've probably moved on with your life...

He continues to look through the paper, he comes to the society section. He sees the headline “Commissioner Buchanan to wed Cherry Vale Surgeon” He reads through the story.

Bo: …and the bride is the sister of local gallery owner, Lindsey Rappaport...

Lindsey: Bo!

Bo: (in a low graveled voice) What the hell have you done?
