Conspiracy part 9
Nora stood silent in Bo’s office waiting for him to return.
As soon as Hank called and told him the imposter was a Hesser,
Bo immediately ran to the interrogation room to hear Hesser’s
statement. Nora felt ill. She was thinking of how Lindsey looked
and sounded when Officer Paloma took her away. Still acting as
if Nora was the one losing her marbles. And Colin. She was actually
sickened by the thought that he was in on the whole scheme, whatever
it was.
The whole entire chain of events from the train wreck to
its culmination here at the station was taking its toll on her
emotions. She sat on the couch and began to weep. For the time
she lost with her children. For how horrible this imposter made
her feel the past few months. For the way Bo was kept hostage
like a drugged animal. For all the time he lost with his family.
Then she thought of them together. How right it felt. But was
there enough love and feelings between them to make a go of it
again. She thought about how Bo was, in reality, left with no
choice but to hide out in her home, until this whole mess was
straightened out. But now he was able to take back his life, take
back his home, friends, family. What if this reality hit him and
he really wasn’t too keen on recommitting to her. She was
so deep in her thoughts she didn’t hear Bo enter the office.
He stooped down next to her as she sat on the couch.
Bo: Penny for your thoughts?
Nora: Oh! You startled me!
Bo: Didn’t mean to. (he lightly runs the back of his hand down her cheek, wiping away remnants of her releasing cry) These better be tears of happiness…
He kisses her on the cheek and back off slightly, noticing how sad her eyes look.
Bo: Uh-oh. Something tells me my baby ain’t happy…Out with it Red…
Nora: (fidgeting with the damp tissue in her hands) It’s nothing…really…what did you find out?
Bo: OK…I won’t press you right now…but I expect you to tell me when we get home (kisses her lightly on the lips)…what did I find out…well…(pausing long enough to sit on the couch next to her) his name is Kristoff Hesser…nephew to Carlo Hesser…you remember him?
Nora: Men of 21…Poseidon…I remember
Bo: Well, yeah, same family, next generation…seems that Colin got himself into a real bad situation with Carlo’s boys…
Nora: What?! Colin is involved with Hesser??
Bo: Yeah…I knew something wasn’t right with him...anyway…he promised to pay Hesser an unbelievable amount of cash to take care of his debt…interest compounding daily…he knew Lanie had a huge inheritance from her father…he figured Lindsey did too…
Nora: Did she?
Bo: No…It was all Lanie’s. Colin knew Lanie wouldn’t
give it to him, so he went to Lindsey and threatened to expose
the fact that her daughter Jenn is not Sam’s daughter…
Nora: What?? This is too twisted…
Bo: Jenn is actually Colin’s and Lindsey’s child. Colin threatened to tell Sam and Jenn…unless Lindsey paid him…
Nora: So how does Lanie play into all of this and why was Lindsey keeping you prisoner…
Bo: Well, Colin thought Lindsey had claim to the inheritance also…he later found out…after he started an intimate relationship with Lindsey…
Nora: (looking disgusted) I think I’m going to be sick…
Bo: Hang on…he found out Lindsey didn’t have any part of Daddy’s riches…so he went back to Hesser, where Hesser found out who Colin’s ties where with. He figured he could settle some old family scores, while making a small fortune for himself…so he (Bo hesitates and looks down)
Nora: He what?( giving Bo a “you better spill it Buchanan” look) Bo…he what?
Bo: He knew I was on that train to Statesville, he paid some farmer to stall his pick up on the track…Hesser planned to wreck the train..just as a way to take over my life…have me get involved with Melanie and take her money…
Nora: Oh…Bo…
Bo: And everything you went through…well, they are all going to pay for hurting you…(he puts his hand around the back of her neck and pulls her towards him, kissing her on the forehead)
Nora: But there’s so much more that has to be explained…
Bo: I know…I know…in time we will get it all…I think you should go home and rest…
Nora: Aren’t you coming home?
Bo: I have a lot of stuff to finish up here…I’ll be home soon enough… start thinking of how we are going to introduce our son to his ol’ man…Man. I love that…
Nora: What’s that?
Bo: The way it sounds to say “our son” those are the best words I’ve ever heard…and you and I have to hammer out some unfinished business later too…so go home…relax and I’ll be there soon…
He kisses her and sends her on her way. He heads back to
the interrogation room where Colin is being questioned again.

On the way home, Nora detours to Asa and Renee’s mansion. Nigel opens the door.
Nigel: Ms. Buchanan…please come in.
Nora: Hello Nigel…Is Asa or Renee, or actually both of the home?
Nigel: In the study ma’am.
Nora: Thank you Nigel.
Nora walks into the study…Asa is at his desk reading a paper and Renee is on the couch reading a book.
Nora: Hi!
Renee: Oh my! Nora! Hello! What brings you by?
Asa: (getting up from his desk to greet her) How’s my favorite daughter today???
Nora: Fine…but I need to talk with you both about some changes in my life…and yours too.
Renee: Nora, is everything OK?
Nora: Well, yes and no…Asa, you better sit down…
Asa: I better pour myself a drink…this sounds serious… care for one?
Nora: Yes…let me have a bourbon…
Renee: That serious?
Nora: (drinking the strong whiskey) Yeah. For the past three and a half weeks I have been living with some one…
Asa: Ah Nora…I thought you promised to stay away from that punk doctor…
Nora: I did…I promised and I kept it…
Asa: Not that Rappascum…there is no way I will sit here and listen to that…
Nora: No…just listen..almost four weeks ago, my door bell rang, I answered it and I was greeted by what at first I thought was a vagrant…it wasn’t…
Renee: Who was it?
Nora: It was Bo.
Asa: Woman, are you off your rocker?
Nora: I thought I was…but Asa…it was him…
Asa: I have two sons named Bo? C’mon…I may be old…but I ain’t senile!
Nora: Asa…I know this is going to be difficult…but the Bo that we have been living with for the past year is an imposter…
Asa & Renee: WHAT????
Nora: It’s true…Bo has been living in secret in my attic…weel, at least for the past few weeks…
Asa: Your attic? Why ain’t he in your bed?
Renee and Nora both frown at him…
Asa: Wha??
Nora: Anyway…Bo had to remain in hiding until we, he, could find out who took over his life and why. (pausing and drinking the remainder of the whiskey) About two hours ago we found out…
Asa: Where is my son?
Nora: He’s at the station with Hank and John. They are interrogating the imposter, Colin and Lindsey…
Renee: Lindsey???
Asa: I knew that witch was no good…
Nora: Brace yourself…
Asa: There’s more???
Nora: The imposter is a man named Kristoff Hesser…
Renee: HESSER??
Asa: Hesser!!
Nora: Carlo’s nephew…I don’t know all the details, but he set up the train wreck from the beginning…
Asa: I’ll kill him!
Nora: Now hold on Asa…there is a bit more news…
Asa: I don’t know if I can take anymore…
Nora: I think you’ll like this…(pause) I have known this for a while but I have kept it and once I tell you, I’ll explain why…
Renee: Oh dear…how much more?
Nora: Matthew is Bo’s son…
Asa & Renee: WHAT???
Nora: Back during the summer, when we had those DNA tests re-done, they proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt that Matthew was Bo’s child.
Asa: Why the heck didn’t you tell us…
Renee: Does Sam know this…I mean he has been raising Matthew as his child…
Nora: Sam knows Matthew is Bo’s son. What he doesn’t know is Matthew’s real father is back and wants to be very much a part of his life.
Asa: Now explain…
Nora: When we found out Matthew was indeed Bo’s son…Bo, imposter Bo didn’t want him.
Asa: I’ll kill the…
Nora: He said he didn’t think it was right for him to take Matthew away from the only father he’s ever known. Considering what the circumstances where, it sounded like a logical solution to what could have been a big problem….
Renee: But the problem is still here and now its bigger…
Nora: I know…I know…I was thinking maybe after all of this whole Hesser/Lindsey problem is over and Bo has time to spend with Matthew, maybe we could or he could go up to the cabin with Matthew…and you both…Matthew loves you both very much…
Renee: And we have always loved him…
Asa: That much is true…I do love that little guy…I had a feeling he was a Buchanan! Lots of spunk in that kid!
Renee: We will be there for you and Bo for what ever you need…you just tell us…
Asa: So does this mean you and Bo are back together?
Nora: We have to talk about it….
Renee: But you had said he was living at your place…
Nora: He had no choice…he had to until we could flush out the imposter…I am sure he’ll want his life back the way it was before the wreck…and he and I were not together…
Asa: I’ll tell you this much…that son of mine doesn’t do right by you and that boy of yours…I’ll take care of him…boy will I ever!
Nora: Asa. I do love and I thank you for all you encouragement…but I don’t want to be with Bo if he doesn’t want to be with me…
Asa: Missy…he wants you…don’t ever think for a moment he doesn’t…now…where is my Grandson? (looking at Renee) Ya hear that woman?? My grandson!
Renee: (to Nora) You have made him very happy!
Nora smiles and finishes her drink.
Nora: I have to get going. Rachel and Matthew are waiting for me
Renee: Well, you go ahead…and thank you for letting us know…
Nora: Asa…will you take care of the rest of the family? I just want some quiet time with Matthew tonight…please call Clint and Vicki.
Asa: Consider it done. Good night. (in her ear) Bo loves you…he always has…never doubt it
Nora: Thank you. I’ll keep it in mind.

At the police station, Bo is deep in thought writing out a report. He has heard Lindsey’s statement and Colin’s and he is contemplating what his next move will be when Melanie walks in.
Melanie: Hello darling!
She goes to kiss Bo and he turns his head so she kisses his cheek.
Bo: Melanie. (pausing) ummm, we have to talk.
Melanie: Were’s my picture? (looking around Bo’s
desk) Why is HER picture here??
Bo! What is going on???
Bo: Melanie…I am not who you think I am…
Melanie: What are you saying?
Bo: I am Bo Buchanan…
Melanie: I know!
Bo: You were engaged to a man who looked like me…he was an imposter…his name is Kristoff Hesser…
Melanie: Oh God!!! No!!! How can some one be so evil??? If you didn’t want to marry me…
Bo: I don’t even know you!!!
Bo’s phone in his office rings…
Bo: Buchanan…uh huh….I see…yeah…(he puts a finger up to Melanie, signaling for her to wait) ok…yeah…
He hangs up the phone.
Bo: Melanie McIver…you are under arrest for the murder of your father.
Melanie: WHAT??? Bo this is crazy!
Bo: No…this is reality. Colin told everything…how you stole narcotics and injected you father and ended his life…
Melanie: He was dying…he begged me…
Bo: You committed two felonious acts…you are under arrest…you have the right to remain silent…if you give up that right anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law…you have the right to an attorney…if you cannot afford an attorney one will be provided for you…
Officer Paloma again cuffs and takes yet another criminal to booking…John Sykes and Hank enter Bo’s office….
John: Well, Commissioner…could today get any better? I mean…you have your life back…Lindsey and Colin will be prosecuted not only for what they did to Nora…but you also…and Melanie is being extradited to Chicago on homicide charges.
Hank: And you got your wife back…
Bo: And my son…
Hank: Does Sam know yet?
Bo: Not yet…guys…you’ll have to excuse me…tonight is my first night of freedom, so to speak, and I have got the most beautiful redhead in the world waiting for me at home…
John: I understand totally. Have a good evening…
Hank: Yeah…have a great evening!
Bo: I plan too!
