The Course of True Love
Never Runs Smooth~ Part 22

Chapter Twenty-Two:

Halloween came and went, and so had Thanksgiving. Christmas was just under a month away and Matthew couldn’t wait. Bo had been going into the station a few days a week since Nora was getting around pretty well on her own. Things had fallen into a comfortable routine and neither one of them had even brought up the subject of her getting well and being able to move out. Their reconnecting had moved beyond kissing but she hadn’t been able to bring herself to make love to Bo yet, although she wanted to. She had been seeing Rae twice a week and things had been going well. She had made a lot of progress in dealing with the fact that Nick raped her and how that affects the rest of her life. Rae suggested that they schedule a session for the three of them….

Outside Rae’s office...

Nora sits outside in the lobby waiting for Bo to arrive. He had gone into the station that day and got sidetracked by a new case involving a string of burglaries. He arrived a few minutes before their appointment.

Bo walked off the elevator and saw her standing in the corner talking on her phone. He loved watching her. She had her back to him so she never saw him as he approached her from behind. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the back of her neck. She jumped at the contact but quickly relaxed into his embrace. She finished up her phone call and dropped the phone into her purse. She turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I thought you were going to stand me up.”

“No way, a gentleman never stands up a lady.”

He kissed her tenderly on the lips and took her hand pulling her towards Rae’s office. She looked over at the door leading to the counseling center and suddenly she froze. Bo stopped walking when he realized that she had stopped walking with him.

“What’s the matter, honey?”

“I’m scared.”

“What are you afraid of?”

She doesn’t speak for a moment and stares at the floor.
Lifting her chin forcing her to look at him “Talk to me, honey. Remember you told me you weren’t going to shut me out.”

She looked up at him and saw what she needed to see. He reached out and wiped away the tears that had fallen.
“I’m just afraid that after you hear what you’re about to hear that you’re not…”

“That I’m not going to love you anymore.”

“Yeah, that you won’t be able to look at me the way I need and want you to look at me.”

“Nothing is going to change the way I feel about you, and nothing and I mean nothing is going to make me not love you anymore.”

“It’s possible.”

“No it’s not; it’s I.M.POSS.IB.LE. Do you understand me?”

She just nodded her head and let him lead her into Rae’s office.

Nora told Bo about everything that happened to her at the cabin. She could see the rage and the pain in his eyes, but she could also see the love. She cried, he cried, and when they walked out of that office that day they had taken the last step back towards each other. She had what she needed, and that was reassurance, reassurance that he still wanted her, that his desire for her hadn’t changed. They left the hospital and picked Matthew up from school. Bo dropped her and Matthew off at the garret and went back to the station.

Two days later….

Bo had been working at the station until past midnight for the last few days. This string of robberies had been keeping him really busy. Nora had her last session with Rae that afternoon and she was feeling great. She decided that she was going to plan a romantic evening for the two of them. She called Renee and asked if Matthew could spend the night with them. She made dinner reservations at the Palace and booked them a suite.

She had stopped at Logan’s and picked up a new dress. She laid it out on the bed and walked into the bathroom. She soaked in a hot tub for a while. She wanted to be ready when Bo came home She did her hair and makeup. She stepped into her dress and slowly zipped it up. She ran her hands over the silky material and smiled. The dress accentuated every curve and left very little to the imagination. She turned when she heard his key in the door. He heard her walking out into the living room. He looked up and the sight in front of him took his breath away.

“Have a hot date or something?”

“Yep.”

“Anyone I know?”

“Oh, he’s only the man of my dreams.”

“The man of your dreams, huh?”

“Yeah, and he better get his cute backside into that bedroom and get dressed or we’re going to be late for our date.”

“Where are we going? And where’s our son?”

“The palace, and at his grandparents. Now does that answer all of your questions?”

“Why yes it does.”

“Good then get going.”

Bo and Nora arrived just in time for their reservation. They enjoyed a delicious dinner. She stood up and held out her hand.

“Dance with me?”

“Are you sure? I mean are you up to it.”

“Just dance with me, Buchanan.”

He took her hand and she led him out onto the dance floor. All eyes in the room were focused on them.

Well, here we are again
I guess it must be fate
We've tried it on our own
But deep inside we've known
We'd be back to set things straight
I still remember when
Your kiss was so brand new
Every memory repeats
Every step I take retreats
Every journey always brings me back to you

After All the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
After All that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me, After All

Everyone who saw them that night and knew what they had overcome to be there that night, just stared, happy to see one of Llanview’s most popular couples back together again.

“I think our getting back together is going to be all over town real soon.”

“Let em’ talk.”

When love is truly right
(This time it's truly right)
It lives from year to year
It changes as it goes
Oh, and on the way it grows
But it never disappears

After All the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
After All that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me, After All

Their dance continued. He placed his hand on the small of her back and pulled her against him. His hand on her bare skin sent a shiver up her spine. Their bodies were melted into each other and it was hard to see where she ended and he began.

She lifted her head off his shoulder and looked up at him. He looked into her eyes and brought his lips down onto hers. They shared their first public kiss in five years, but for them they were the only two in the room.
Always just beyond my touch
You know I needed you so much
After All the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall

After All that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me,
After All

Their dance ended. He started to lead her back to the table but she stopped him.

“No, Bo. Come with me.”

Nora led him out of the restaurant. They walked up to the front desk and she picked up her key.

She turned around and held out her hand.

“Where are we going?”

“We’re going upstairs, where I’m going to make love to the man of my dreams.”
