The Cruise - Part 2

Last Time:

Colin has been following Nora
Nora allowed Sam to take Matthew to Switzerland for a 2-week vacation.

Matthew has been gone 3 days and Nora is missing him terribly. She has been working such late hours that she is almost caught up on her workload. She has been thinking a lot about what her assistant, Kay, said about taking a vacation. A short 4-day cruise could be just what the doctor ordered to help lift her spirits. She would definitely need to investigate.

Travel Agency:

Nora walks into the travel agency and begins looking at all the pamphlets lining the walls.
Nora: (Putting her hand to her head) Oh boy, I had no idea there were so many selections.
The travel agent gets off the phone after talking with a client.
Travel Agent: Good morning.
Nora: (Turning briefly) Hi
Travel Agent: Is there something I can help you with.
Nora: (Smiling) Well, I was told I need to take a vacation.
Travel Agent: Sounds like a good idea to me. Is there something in particular you were looking for.
Nora; It was suggested that a cruise might be just what I need.
Travel Agent: (Getting up from her desk and walking over to Nora) Here (She begins pulling one pamphlet off the wall after another)
Nora: Oh my gosh. I had no idea there were so many to choose from (Laughing as the Travel Agent hands Nora about 15 pamphlets) Where do I start.
Travel Agent: It depends on what you’re looking for. (Pulling one of the pamphlets from Nora’s hand) You have your Disney cruise line. Any children going?
Nora: (With a sad look on her face) Not this time, it’s just me.
Travel Agent (Handing the pamphlet back to Nora) OK, well keep this, you might want to do something later. (Flipping through the pamphlets again) We have your singles cruises, your honeymoon cruises, senior citizen cruises . . .
Nora: (Laughing) Well, maybe later.
Travel Agent: (Smiling) yeah, we’ll just put this one back on the wall.
(They both laugh.)
Travel Agent: (continuing) There’s a 50’s cruise. I’ve heard it’s lots of fun: 50’s Music, costume parties. A good mix of people.
Nora: (Looking at the pamphlet) Hmmm, 50’s cruise? Well I’ll certainly think about it.
Travel Agent: (Stacking the pamphlets again) Here, take all these. Look them over and get back to me.
Nora: (Taking the stack of pamphlets) Thanks. This is quite a bit of reading material. (Reaching for the door) I’ll be in touch.
Travel Agent:I look forward to hearing from you. Have a nice day.
Nora: Yeah, You too.

Nora leaves the Travel Agency and runs right into Officer Tim.
Nora: (Picking up the pamphlets she dropped) Oh, I’m so sorry. I need to watch where I’m going (Looking Up)
Officer Tim: Oh, No, Ms. Buchanan, my fault. I got distracted (Bending to help her pick-up the pamphlets) Are you OK?
Nora: (Laughing) I’m fine (Holding up all the pamphlets) I just have a lot of reading to do.
Officer Tim: (With a smile) Planning a trip?
Nora: Well, I’m looking into it. Too many to choose from.
Officer Tim: Yes Ma’am (Tipping his hat) You have a nice day Ma’am.
Nora: You too officer. Oh! And Hey (with a smile) stop getting distracted by the pretty women crossing the street.
Officer Tim: (Blushing) Yes Ma’am.
Nora walks away laughing.

Later that day, Llanview Police Department:
Knock, Knock
Bo: (Looking up from his desk) Come in.
Officer Tim: Am I interrupting?
Bo: No, No, come in Tim. (Giving Officer Tim his full attention) So, what’s the latest.
Officer Tim: Well, sir, I’ve been following Ms. Buchanan like you said. I saw her go into a Travel Agency.
Bo: (Raising his eyebrows) Travel agency, huh?
Officer Tim: Yes, sir. I couldn’t tell what they were talking about but when Ms. Buchanan left, I accidentally ran into her.
Bo: (Looking amused) Accidentally?
Officer Tim: Well, you know (looking a little uncomfortable)
Bo: Go on.
Officer Tim: It appears, from the material she was carrying, that she’s planning a cruise.
Bo: (Looking surprised) A cruise? I thought Nora hated the water.
Officer Tim: I don’t know about that, sir, but that’s the subject matter of the material she was carrying.
Bo: (Deep in thought) Hmmmm. (Lifting his head to look at Officer Tim) Nice job, Tim. Continue on.
Officer Tim: Thank you sir.
Officer Tim: (Before he leaves) Sir, may I ask a question.
Bo: Sure.
Officer Tim: Well, sir, why are we sneaking around following Ms. Buchanan. Can’t you just tell her that you are concerned?
Bo: Oh, no! Then we would have a case of cat and mouse. Ms. Buchanan doesn’t like to have anyone take care of her. This way I can make sure she’s safe without her trying to prove she doesn’t need my help. Understand?
Officer Tim: (Still not sure) Umm, I guess.
Bo: Trust me, Tim, it really works best this way when dealing with Ms. Buchanan.
Officer Tim: Yes Sir, have a nice day.
Officer Tim leaves Bo’s office and closes the door.

A few minutes pass and the door to Bo’s office swings open.
Asa: Why the he!! Are you just sitting here.
Bo: Good afternoon to you too, Pa.
Asa: You can’t possibly be protecting Nora from that psycho doctor if you are in here.
Bo: Pa, trust me. I have it all under control. Calm down. Nora is being taken care of.
Asa: Taken care of, my hind parts. She should be under house arrest until you lock that crazy man up. I told you what happened, why didn’t you go arrest him.
Bo: Pa, have a seat (Asa sits across from Bo’s desk) Pa, Nora never filed a report. She hasn’t even mentioned the incident to me. I can’t just go arrest McIver on what you saw.
Asa: Don’t you love her, Bo.
Bo: Pa, you know I care deeply for Nora, but she has to file a report before I can officially take action. (Smiling) Unofficially, however, I have someone watching over Nora all the time. Colin’s been sniffing around, but he hasn’t done anything illegal. If he tries to hurt her, I’ll be there.
Asa: (Standing and pointing) Not while you’re behind that desk!
Bo: (standing and putting on his coat) It’s 1:00 and I’m suppose to meet Melanie at the Diner for lunch You wanna join us?
Asa: (Rolling his eyes) I’d rather eat wood chips.
Bo: (Laughs) Suit yourself, Pa. I’ll see ya around.

Diner:
Nora is sitting in a booth with the pamphlets spread out across the table, trying to figure out which one best suits her. The door opens and in walks Bo and Melanie. Melanie is holding onto Bo’s arm.
Nora: (Quickly grabbing up the pamphlets) Great!
Before she can get them up and put away they’re standing at her table. She looks very nervous and is unsure what to do with the stack in her hand.
Nora: Hi ya (looking guilty).
Bo: Hi Nora
Melanie: Hi
Bo: What ya got there.
Nora: Where (Still holdng pamphlets in her hand) (Bo nods towards her hand with a smile on his face. Nora looks at her hand as if it was the first time she noticed the pamphlets) Oh, these? Umm….Well… I just thought I’d…Umm…(Waving them around now like a fan) I just thought I’d take a little vacation.
Bo: (Smiling) Really, where ya headed?
Nora: (Very quietly) on a cruise.
Bo: (Leaning closer) Where?
Nora: (Louder) A Cruise, ya know big boat, lots of water. A CRUISE!
Bo: (Laughing) Oh, sounds great.
Melanie: (Still holding onto Bo’s arm) Yeah! (Looking at Bo) We should do that sometime. I’ve heard they are a lot of fun (Bo is just staring at her)
Nora: (Flipping through the stack) Here (Reaching a pamphlet to Melanie) I heard this one is a lot of fun.
Melanie: (She takes the pamphlet and her eyes light up) Look, Bo! Disney!
Nora is just sitting there with the biggest grin on her face.
Bo: (Taking Melanie by the hand) Come on let’s eat. Bye Nora.
Nora just waves with her fingers as they walk away.
