Dad's Day Out part 9
Bo had so many things running through his head as he hurried his cycle back to the house.
Bo: (in his mind) I am not father material. What have I done? …I buy my son a dog and tear everyone's life apart…maybe I should rethink this father thing…maybe he’d be better with out me…Nora definitely would…took her less than five seconds to tell me so…
He thought back to the scene in Nora’s office just moments ago.
Nora: Bo…what happened to Matthew? What do you mean he ran away?
Bo: Honey, calm down…we’ll find him…Rachel has a note…please Nora
She began to shake, from fear but mostly from anger….
Nora: You…(pausing) you just…don’t(her words were incoherent, she was beyond anger and since Bo was there, he unfortunately became her punching bag, verbal and physical) My life has become a nightmare! (she punches him in the arm) A total nightmare since…since…(to herself in her head) Nora slow down before you say something…(outloud) since you and I got back together! (in her mind)Yeah, that’s it, take it slow, think, then destroy your relationship with the love of your life…
Bo: (taken aback by what she just said) Oh…(very hurt) ok…well, I have to go find Matthew…I think I know exactly were we stand…
With that he left and jumped on his bike…

Nora took a moment to regain her composure then left for the house.
The drive home was torture some. Every child she saw playing,
she hoped beyond all hopes it was Matthew, she couldn’t focus,
here child was gone. She didn’t even have a chance to speak
with Rachel. And Bo…she was angry beyond words with him,
but she wasn’t sure why, and now she hurt him. She knew she
hurt him to the core, she could see it in his eyes.
She pulled up the driveway, there was already a group of squads,
marked and unmarked, Hank’s car was there so was Bo’s
bike. It ignited fury and an overwhelming sense of love for her
to see it there…she wanted to run into the house and have
him take her in his arms, reassuring her that all would be ok,
and in the say turn, she wanted to tell him to get out, go back
to Asa’s. Her mind couldn’t comprehend the rush of feelings
towards Bo. But first and foremost in her mind was Matthew. As
she rushed past the motorcycle and into the house, she was greeted
by Hank. He practically held her up and carried her to the couch.
She looked in to Rachel’s eyes
Rachel: (crying) Oh Momma…I shouldn’t have stayed out all night…I fell asleep on the couch…when I woke up this was on my stomach (she hands Nora the crayon scribed note)
Nora held the note and read its bold crayoned print:
“I told you the bad guys always come back…like Lotor…they think he’s gone..no..Mommy made Bo be the bad guy gain…he will put Roy in a jail…I don’t want a bad daddy… I want my good daddy again…I am going away…to find my real daddy”
Nora: (covers her mouth with her hand) Oh no….(crying) nooo…(Hank puts his hand on her shoulder as he sits on the back of the couch to comfort her, Rachel puts her head on Nora’s lap) Hank…Hank…did anyone call Sam…
Hank: Sam’s not in town…we checked…
Nora: Where’s Bo?… I need Bo…Where is he…
Rachel: (sitting up) He left…he said he would call Daddy later and he wouldn’t stop til he found Matthew…
Nora: I saw his bike…
Rachel: He took his truck, Mom….(she starts crying again) I’m sorry Momma…I’m sorry…I fell asleep..I’m sorry.
Nora: Sshh…(holding her daughter in her arms) Bo will find him…Bo will. (she gets up and walks to the window, peering out in a daze) Find our baby…find our baby, Bo.
Rachel: (to Hank) Daddy…(she pulls Hank towards her) Daddy, Bo took some of his things and said he was going back to Asa’s, he would get the rest of his things after Matt was safe.
Asa comes bursting into the house.
Asa: What the hell is going on here?
Hank: Asa, always making your presence known…
Asa: You should be out helping my son find my grandson!
Nora: Asa! (she walks over to him, he out stretches his arms and engulfs her in a huge bear hug) You’ve seen Bo?
Asa: Yeah, I seen ‘im…talkin’ like a fool, bout how he ruined your life and he was gonna move back in to the mansion til he gets his own place…
Nora: What? Oh no….(she buries her head in Asa’s shoulder and cries)
Asa: Now, now…he’ll be back, once he comes to his senses…
Nora: I hurt him…again…
Asa: You didn’t do anything of the like…just settle down…sshhhh
Nora: No (between sobs) I did hurt him…I…I…told him he made my life a wreck…
Asa: Come sit down…
Nora: Asa…if anything happens to Matthew…Bo will…
Asa: Nothing is going to happen to Matthew…Bo will find him and you two will be fine…
Nora: I saw it in his eyes…I saw it...

Bo is out searching for Matthew. He also does a lot of soul searching.
Bo: Where are you Matt?…(he thinks again of Nora’s words) “My life has become a nightmare since you and I got back together” (those words echoed in his head) Nora…maybe we have changed too much. Maybe the year Lindsey held me captive gave you the opportunity to live a different life…
Bo pulls into the ice cream shop parking lot. He gets out of his truck and goes in.
Clerk: Can I help you sir?
Bo: (pulling out a picture of Matt) Has this little boy been in here today? He would have had a little dog with him?
Clerk: Not that I know of…but I just started my shift 20 minutes ago…
Bo: Is the person you relieved still here?
Clerk: No…she left.
Bo: Thank you…(Bo turns to walk out, he hesitates and turns back to the clerk) would you mind putting up this picture?
Clerk: No problem. (he takes the picture and tapes it up)
Bo leaves the shop, let down. He heads over to the park again, then the playground. He sees his officers searching also.
Bo: Matthew…(a tear runs down his face) Nora…

Nora is sitting in the kitchen sipping a cup of herbal tea. Hank walks in.
Nora: (slightly startled at Hank’s hand on her neck) Hank! (putting the cup down) Any word?
Hank: No…calm down…soon as I hear anything…
Nora: Did you hear from Bo?
Hank: No. (pause) Nora…something more happened…wanna tell me?
Nora: Hank…I have been so used to solo parenting, I have gotten so used to having my life be my own…
Hank: You’ve always been that way…
Nora: Yeah…but its more so now…I am having a very hard time letting Bo into my life…I love him…I love him so much…but…
Hank: Maybe you guys have been moving to fast. (pausing as Nora face goes from an expression of confusion to understanding) for a whole year Hesser had us thinking he was Bo…and he was so horrible to you..about Matt and all…you began to resent him…move away from him…live your life void of Bo Buchanan…then when Bo came back…he wanted to just fall back into line where he left off…
Nora: But Hank…
Hank: Seriously Nora, I can’t blame him for wanting his life back…but he never considered that you may have moved on…or at least had a different perspective of your relationship with him…
Nora: I hear what you are saying Hank…but I’m afraid if I tell him this…
Hank: Could it get any worse than it already is?
Nora: I guess not.
Hank: You also have to loosen up…I mean, raising a son full time is quite different from raising a daughter part time…you are doing a fabulous job with Matt, don’t get me wrong, but honey…he’s a boy…
Nora: You think I baby him…don’t you?
Hank: Well…
Nora: Bo and I have had this quote unquote discussion before…he thinks I baby Matthew…I can’t help it! He is my baby! (she thinks of how Matthew is still missing and starts crying again)
Hank: Come on now…we’ll find him.
Nora: Oh Hank…

Bo pulls up in front of the small convenience store were he and Matthew buy candy. He goes in.
Clerk: Hi…can I help you?
Bo: Yes..(taking out a picture) have you seen this little boy in here at all today…he would have had a little dog with him…
Clerk: Sorry…no…I was running late today and I just got here…
Bo: Is the person you relieved still here?
Clerk: Lemme go check…
He walks to the back. Bo looks around the shop, to see if there is anything at all…as he looks toward the ground near the candy rack, he sees some thing. From the distance he thinks he’s hallucinating. He walks towards the object, picking it up he realizes it’s a wallet picture from his and Nora’s wedding. He stares at the picture.
Bo: Matthew!
Clerk: Sir? Sir….(Bo walks over to the counter) He’s gone…but he’ll be back tomorrow at six thirty…
Just then a tall young man hurries into he store
Young Man: Hey! Stever!!!
Clerk: This is Max…he’s the guy I relieved!
Max: Hey! (looking at the picture of Matt that Bo left on the counter) This is the little guy that was in here this morning! Stever, I forgot my tunes…can ya grab my case there. (he reaches across the counter)
Bo: (his eye open wide and he grabs the kid’s arm) Excuse me…this little boy was in here?
Max: (looking at Bo and pulling his arm away) yeah…dude chill…
Bo: This is my son…he ran away…
Max: With a little dog…right?
Bo: Yes…yes!! Did you talk to him?
Max: No…his mother bought some milk and some candy and they left…
Bo: His mother?!
Max: Yeah…blonde chic…your wife?
Bo: No…ah (hurrying out of the store) ah…thank you…thank you!
Matthew: Can I have some more?

Woman: Sure sweetie…(pours some milk)
Matthew: And another cookie?
Woman: Of course, my angel (handing him a cookie)
Matthew: Can Roy have another treat?
Woman: Roy can have anything he wants…(tosses Roy a treat) there you go Roy.
Matthew: You like Roy?
Woman: Of course I do!
Matthew: (looking down and sad) My mom and Dad don’t…they want to get rid of him…
Woman: I can’t believe your Daddy doesn’t like Roy…your Daddy is a very nice man…
Matthew: I like my old Daddy better…
Woman: Now, Matt, Bo is a wonderful, wonderful man…and you look so like him…
Matthew: I’m sleepy…
Woman: Let’s get you to bed…
Matthew: Roy and I can really stay with you?
Woman: As long as you like…your Daddy would be very happy to know your safe with me…your Daddy is very special to me…
Matthew: Thank you…aunt Melanie.
