- Happy Father’s
Day – A short FF

- Just figured I would write
an alternative reality to what we’ve seen on the show.
-
- ****************

- Nora was lying in the bed
with Bo’s arms wrapped around her and their unborn child.
She loved feeling his steady breaths on her neck. It made her
feel safe…secure….loved.
-
- There it was again. How long
has it been? 10 minutes?
-
- Nora slowly rubs Bo’s
arm and he stirs slightly.
-
- “Bo, honey”
-
- Bo pulls her closer and kisses
her neck “Hmmmm? I love you Red.”
-
- “I love you too Bo but
it’s time.”
-
- “Time for what?”
-
- “Time to have our baby.”
-
- Bo bolts out of bed, throws
on some sweats, a T-shirt and tennis shoes. Nora just watches
and smiles.
-
- “Honey…I don’t
think we have to rush. We have some time.”
-
- Bo comes up to her with a
huge smile on his face and kisses her deeply.
-
- “I love you so much.”
-
- “I love you too. Now
let’s get to the hospital.”
-
- A couple of hours later
-
- Dr. Conklin finishes examining
Nora. “Well it looks like we’re ready to go. Nora,
on the next contraction I want you to push as hard as you can.
Bo, just give her as much support on her back as you can.”

- Bo kisses Nora gently. “I
can do that.”
-
- Nora continues pushing as
hard as she can. Bo’s right by her side helping as much
as he can. He’s never been more excited, more scared, more
in love.
-
- “Okay….I see the
head. Just one more hard push and your baby should be here. Come
on Nora, you can do it.”
-
- Nora gives one last push
and the baby is born.
-
- “Congratulations you
two. You have a beautiful baby boy.”
-
- Dr. Conklin lays the baby
on Nora’s stomach and hands the scissors to Bo.
-
- “You want to do the
honors dad?”
-
- “I’ve been waiting
for this forever.”
-
- Nora holds the baby tight
as Bo cuts the umbilical cord. Bo wraps his arms around Nora
and just stares at his son. The nurse approaches to take the
baby.
-
- “Let me clean him up
and weigh him quick. I’ll have him back here in your arms
in two minutes”
-
- Bo follows the nurse to the
table and watches every move she makes. Nora’s eyes fill
with tears as she watches Bo watch their son. This was everything
she had ever dreamed about. Her life was complete.
-
- The nurse comes back and
hands Nora the baby.
-
- “I’ll leave the
three of you alone for a bit. We’ll move you to a private
room in a while.”
-
- Twenty minutes later Nora
is settled into her room. The nurse strolls in with the bassinet
followed closely by Bo who has a large bouquet of flowers. The
nurse hands Nora the baby and Bo just stares at his family with
a huge grin on his face.

- “What are you staring
at?”
-
- “You are so incredibly
beautiful. Do you know what you are doing to my heart right now?
It feels like it’s going to burst out of my chest. Thank
you so much for this.”
-
- Bo walks up to the bed and
kisses Nora deeply and then kisses his son on the top of his
head. He crawled into bed and wrapped his arms around Nora.
-
- “Wanna hold him?”
-
- “For the rest of his
life.”
-
- Nora hands the baby to Bo
who plays with the baby’s fingers and toes. Bo can’t
get over how small and tiny he was.
-
- “Happy birthday Matthew
Hanen Buchanan.”

- “Happy father’s
day Bo.”
