As Time Flies.....Chapter 10

Last Time: Sam reacted very badly to news of Nora's condition. He dumped baby-sitting duty on an upset Melanie, who was stupid enough to be contemplating bailing her loser husband out of jail. Bo was about to confront Lindsay.

Sam's Car, En Route to Llanview Police Station

Sam was so angry he could hardly keep his eyes on the road. Just who the hell did Larry think he was? How dare he not let him see Nora! True, he and Nora weren't married, but they had a baby together and they were in a relationship. Next of kin, his ass! Sam had gotten very upset, and had even asked Larry why then Bo had been allowed to see her, if he and Nora were divorced! Larry said it was because Bo was the Police Commissioner, and he had also been the one to bring Nora in.

Sam had carried on and made quite a scene, but Larry held firm. He said Nora didn't need that kind of aggravation, and until Sam calmed down he wasn't going anywhere near Nora. Sam thought that was total crap. He knew Larry Wolek was deep in the Buchanan pocket!

Sam felt like killing Asa. At the very least punching out the old man. The way he saw it, if it weren't for Asa, Nora wouldn't have been on that damn train in the first place. Little did he know that meant he and Bo also agreed on something else! Frankly, he wanted to punch Bo out, too. He was sick of Bo, his knight-in-shining-armor routine, and the way Bo had never really been completely out of Nora's life or Sam's relationship with her.

Sam took a deep breath and told himself he really had to calm down. He wasn't helping Nora like this and he knew it. He needed some time alone to sort all of this out. What a mess! He couldn't even think of dealing with Lindsay right now. All he wanted to do was pick up Matthew, take him home, and tell his son the wonderful news that his mommy was coming home!

Llanview Police Station - Holding Cell

Bo just stood and stared through the bars at Lindsay. His mind was churning with all the things he wanted to say to her. The problem was he didn't know where to begin! Lindsay was one sick puppy, of that he was completely convinced. He knew she was insecure, but he had had no idea the depths of her depravity. Murdering Nora? He was still shocked that he had almost married this woman, still overwhelmingly relieved that he hadn't.

There had been a time Bo could overlook Lindsay's manipulations, if not completely forgive her for them, but
kidnapping and trying to kill Nora were totally over the line in his book. Until today, he had thought the worst thing Lindsay could do was tamper with Matthew's DNA test results. He wasn't even able to begin digesting that, and now this. It was beyond comprehension. Bo was totally disgusted, exhausted, and at the end of his rope.

"Well, aren't you going to say something?" Lindsay broke the silence. Bo thought she sounded sarcastic. It was the last straw.

"You know, I was almost going to just walk away, Lindsay. I was just about to decide that I didn't want to bother with you, that you weren't worth it. But your attitude totally amazes me. How can you sit there, locked up in this jail cell because you tried to kill someone, someone very dear to me, then act like the world owes you something? You have some nerve, lady!"

"Bo, I..."

"Just shut the hell up, Lindsay, and don't you dare say a word! I've been silent for too long. I've let you go on and on, destroying everything I hold dear, all in the name of this sick love you supposedly have for me. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. You tried to KILL Nora!" Bo's eyes were blazing and the veins in his neck were bulging. He couldn't remember a time when he had felt such rage, at least not since Drew had died. At that moment he too, was glad for those bars, or he might be behind them himself. He wanted to kill Lindsay.

Lindsay started the waterworks. She sniffled. "Bo, I am so sorry. I don't even know what to say or where to start..."

"Don't! Whatever you have to say, I don't want to hear it! Everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie! I didn't see Colin holding a gun to your head, telling you to kill Nora. You did this all on your own! I can't even imagine how your sick little brain conceived this idea, but I know I'll have to, eventually. I plan on keeping Nora and the rest of society safe from you forever. You will NEVER hurt anything or anyone I love EVER again, do you understand?" Bo was screaming so loud it echoed off the cell block walls.

Lindsay didn't need to hear it in stereo. She could see she wasn't going to get anywhere with him, at least not at this moment. He needed time to calm down. She usually had no trouble explaining away her misdeeds, but kidnapping and murder? She'd really crossed the line this time and she knew it. If it weren't for that damn Colin...

Bo was like a raging pit-bull. "The thing that really gets me, Lindsay, is the entire time you were keeping Nora a prisoner, you kept telling me how much my forgiveness had made you want to be a better person. What garbage!
Nora is the reason I forgave you, yet you mocked both of us each and every day! You're nothing but a scheming, lying manipulator! I wish you'd never come to this town!"

Bo didn't even take a breath. "I should've listened to Clint and Asa, and rode you out of town on a rail. I felt sorry for you, but I will NEVER feel an iota of sympathy for you ever again. If it weren't for your sick vendetta against Nora, none of this would be happening, going all the way back to your tampering with my sperm test. You're one sick bitch, Lindsay, and I regret ever knowing you! I hope to God Nora can forgive me for allowing you to ruin our lives. I hope you rot in hell!" Bo couldn't believe the angry voice he was hearing was his own, but damn, that felt good! Even his shoulders felt lighter.

Lindsay had dissolved into a sobbing heap. She was hoping that a display of remorseful emotion would soften Bo, but it didn't look like it was working. She was running out of options.

Llanview Police Station - Bo's Office

Melanie was getting antsy and Matthew was getting fussy. He was probably hungry, the poor kid, and she had nothing to give him. Where was Bo? He had said he'd be right back to let her know what time Colin's arraignment would be. As much as Melanie wanted to be rid of Colin, she couldn't let him rot in jail, could she? She didn't know what to do.

At least Colin was only facing kidnapping charges. Melanie thought about Lindsay. Her sister was facing much worse. Melanie hoped Sam would be back soon, but in the interest of keeping Matthew's mind temporarily off of food, she thought she'd take a walk down to the holding cell and see Lindsay. Maybe seeing Matthew would cheer her up a little, since she seemed so attached to the little boy. Melanie didn't want to think about seeing Colin. She wasn't ready. She grabbed the diaper bag and headed downstairs.

Llanview Police Station

Sam screeched the car to a halt and slammed it into a parking space. He was still angry with Larry for not letting him see Nora, in spite of his earlier resolve to calm down. Frankly, he was angry about a lot of things. He just wanted to get Matthew and go home. He was exhausted. This had been quite an emotional day. He went to Bo's office, but it was empty. He checked with Sophia. She told him she thought the Commish was downstairs, and she thought she saw the blonde lady go down there, too, but she wasn't sure. Sam thought she was real helpful as he started to climb down the stairs.

Llanview Police Station - Holding Cell

Melanie could hear the shouting even before she got to Lindsay's cell. Was that really Bo? It sounded like his voice, but she couldn't imagine him raging out of control like that, telling Lindsay to rot in hell among other things. She supposed that with everything Lindsay had put Bo through, she deserved at least that. Melanie loved Lindsay and felt guilty about things that had happened in their childhood, but what she had done to Nora was beyond excusing. Old habits were hard to break, and apparently Lindsay hadn't broken hers. Neither could Melanie. She wanted to make Lindsay feel better.

"I hope I'm not intruding, but this little guy was fussy, so I thought I'd take him for a little walk and bring him down to see his Auntie Lindsay. How are you doing? Are you okay?" Melanie smiled at Lindsay and looked at Bo. Bo just looked at Matthew.

Lindsay smiled weakly. She wanted to make it look good. She walked over slowly and patted Matthew's head through the bars. "Thanks, Lanie. It's good to see a friendly face."

"And this little guy has the most friendly face of all, doesn't he? He's just so cute!" Melanie tried to lighten the mood, but Bo still looked impatient and Lindsay just looked miserable.

"You know, Bo, if it weren't for my really wanting to be a better person, I wouldn't have told you about the tampering with Matthew's DNA test. If he's your son, I want you to know the truth. I hope you'll remember that." Lindsay had to try once more to get through to him. "I'm so sorry, Bo." Lindsay gave him a woeful look and tried to put her hand on his arm.

Bo recoiled as if he'd been bitten by a snake. "I told you not to say that, Lindsay! It's absolutely meaningless! What I will remember is how you've tried to destroy not only Nora's life, but also mine, Sam's and Matthew's all in the name of furthering your own sick agenda. Matthew is an innocent child, for God sakes! He should know who is real father is!" Bo had had enough. He wanted to throw up.

No one noticed Sam round the corner. "What do you mean Matthew should know who his real father is? I'm his real father!"
