As Time Flies.....Chapter 5

Last time: Nora made a phone call. Bo went to Cherryvale and smelled something both familiar and funny. Ben gave Bo some interesting information.

The Gallery

Bo buzzed and buzzed but there was no answer. Damn! He really wanted to talk to Lindsay. He had a few questions for her, and he was getting impatient for the answers. He sat down on the floor and waited for her to come home. After about a half an hour, he got tired of waiting. He wanted to go home. He couldn't imagine what Lindsay had to do with all of this, but he knew it couldn't be good.

Llanview Police Station

On the way home, Bo decided to stop at the station to see if there was any news about Will. Hank told him that Will, Jessica and Cristian had gotten away again. Bo wasn't upset, and Hank didn't seem to be too upset either. Bo wished them a silent good luck, and said he was going home for the night. As he was walking out, Asa came walking in.

"Hey, Bo. Where are you off to?"

Bo was feeling tired and impatient. "I don't have time for you or your nonsense right now. I've got things to do. Before I go, I guess I should let you know that Will got away again, and I say good for him!” Bo sighed. “I just don't understand you any more, Pa. Why do you want to put everyone through all of this?"

Asa sat down and looked Bo right in the eye. "I honestly don't know what you mean, Bo. Everybody knows those Rappa-Davidsons are vermin! I hate them for ruining our family, and I they're gonna pay! Young Will may be
wet-behind-the-ears, but he ain't lily-white, you know. Takes after his old man, always scamming. Now he's dragging my granddaughter on the lam with him. What kind of a nice boy would do that? No, Bo, you've got to track him down like the dog he is!"

"I wish I could, Pa, just so I know they're safe, but they're long out of my jurisdiction. To be perfectly honest, I hope they're not found until you come to your senses. Nora would be just sick at the way you're handling yourself, and the misery you're perpetuating. She had the tape that would have freed Will and probably incarcerated you, until you killed her."

"I didn't kill her Bo. The train wreck killed her. And don't say that I put her on that train!"

"Well, Pa? Didn't you?"

"I certainly did not, boy! You should know better than that. I loved Nora! She was like a daughter to me, and I never would have done anything to hurt her. You have no idea how much I miss her. I'm just sorry she didn't give you a child. A child I could be proud to call Buchanan!"

Bo looked at Asa in disgust. The man really had a one-track mind. He had to get out of there before he said something he'd regret. "I have to go, Pa. Do me a favor and don't come around here, okay?" Bo turned on his heel and walked away.

Bo's Apartment

Bo let himself in and took off his shoes. He had done a lot of driving today and was very tired. Meeting up with Asa hadn't helped his mood either.

His mind was churning with all sorts of things, but he couldn't seem to shut his brain off. He thought about how much he missed Nora, about Matthew, and about this missing Jane Doe. How and where did Lindsay fit into all of this? Why couldn't she just sculpt or play with her clay or whatever the hell she did and stay out of everyone's business? He wanted to talk to her very desperately and get some answers.

He tried to call her, but there was no answer. Her machine didn't even pick up. While he listened to Lindsay's phone ring, he never noticed the blinking red light on his own machine.

Bo slammed down the phone and went into the bedroom. He thought he'd go back to Cherryvale again tomorrow andsee if he could find Dr. MacMissing. He was going to get to the bottom of this if it killed him. His mind swirled as he fell into a turbulent sleep.

The Gallery

Bo knocked loudly. He had slept fitfully and had gotten out of bed before dawn. It was still pretty early, and he figured Lindsay would still be sleeping. He rang the buzzer and knocked some more, but there was no answer. He couldn't imagine where Lindsay was at this hour and he was starting to get worried. He really wanted to talk to her before he drove up to Cherryvale again. He wanted some answers. He also wanted to find out where Colin lived.

Bo thought he'd go over to Sam's and see if Melanie would give him directions to Colin's house. That was certainly better than sitting here again and waiting. He was annoyed that he'd have to come back here again before he went up to Cherryvale, but he really wanted to talk to Lindsay before he questioned Colin.

Sam's House

Melanie opened the door. She looked tired. She and Sam were having coffee in the kitchen, feeding Matthew his breakfast. He had cereal all over his face and he was laughing. Bo thought how much Matthew reminded him of Nora. He felt a momentary pang, but shelved it in favor of asking directions to Colin's house.

"Why are you looking for Colin, Bo? He hasn't been bothering me since I told him it was really over the other day. Sam is drawing up the divorce papers, as a matter of fact."

"It's nothing to do with you, actually. There's an interesting case that I'm working on that involves him. He was treating a Jane Doe patient at the Cherryvale clinic who is now missing. I also understand that Colin hasn't been to work for a while, and isn't returning their calls. I just want to ask him some questions, that's all." Bo didn't want to alarm Melanie, or give her a reason to tip Colin off.

"Oh. That is pretty strange. Let me write down the directions to the house for you. I would assume that if he's not at work he'd be there, unless of course, he's shacking up with his latest bimbo!" (Now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? Or is it blonde? LOL!) "Speaking of the other day, Colin was acting strangely. He told Sam and I that he came here to do the right thing, and he wanted to tell Sam something. He never said what it was, and Sam wound up throwing him out."

Bo thought that he and Sam at least agreed on one thing. "Thanks for the information you two. By the way, have you seen Lindsay lately?"

"No Bo, I haven't. Have you Sam?"

"No Bo, I haven't either. Is she all right?"

"I'm sure she is Sam, but you know Lindsay, always something. Oh, one more thing. I wanted to let you know that once this case is solved, I have to talk to you about something." Bo looked and felt uneasy, but a promise was a promise.

"RJ dropped the suit, Bo, so what do you want to talk about?"

"Not now, Sam. When this case is over. I just wanted to let you know. I'll let myself out."

The Gallery

Bo rang and rang the buzzer. Still no answer. He couldn't imagine where Lindsay was, and he was really starting to get annoyed. Where could she be? He didn't have time to wait. He thought he would run over to the police station and pick up his cell phone before the drive to Cherryvale. He also wanted to know if there was any news about Will.

Bo's Apartment

Bo chastised himself as he let himself into the garret. He always remembered to put his cell phone into the police station charger! He was so tired last night that he just plumb forgot it was still in his jacket. He grabbed the phone and was ready to walk out the door when he noticed the red light blinking on his machine. Maybe it was Lindsay! At least he could tell her that Will was still safe, still on the run with Jessica and Cristian. He rewound the tape and sat down to listen to the messages, hoping to hear Lindsay's voice. As much as he wanted to give her the good news about Will, he wanted some answers from her too. The first message was from a telemarketer. The second made him almost faint.
