As Time Flies.....Chapter 6

Last time: Bo runs into Asa, but would rather have run over him. Bo tells Sam he wants to talk to him. Bo looks for Lindsay. Bo gets an important message.

(Chapter 5 was the All Bo Chapter... all Bo, all the time! Sorry I had to stick Sam in there for a moment... I tried not to, but I couldn't avoid it! LOL! I do think I deserve a little credit here, though. This has been a 99.9% Sham-free story! Just like Matthew is 99.9% Sham-free, if you get my drift! LOL! I guess now would be as good a time as any to warn you that if the story continues past Chapter 7, Sam will have to be in it, but vee haf vaze to deel vit dat! Hehehehe! I know, you don't have to say it... I'm whacked! ROFL!)

Colin's House

Nora awoke to what sounded like a stampede. The door to her room flew open and Lindsay stormed in, Colin hot on her heels.

Nora couldn't believe her eyes. "Lindsay, what are you doing here?" At that moment, Nora would have been glad to see Ted Bundy, if it meant she was finally going to go home.

"I'm here to do some damage control. I'm tired of you getting in the way! Dr. Dummy over here can't seem to keep you under wraps, so I guess I'm going to have to. Permanently."

Nora was dumbfounded. She felt under the blanket, but she could tell the cell phone was gone from under the mattress. Now she was scared, petrified even. It slowly started to make sense to her. She wasn't crazy or dreaming, she had heard Lindsay's voice. Apparently, Lindsay and Colin were in on hiding her together. Some convalescent home this was!

"Lindsay, how did you find me?" Nora at least wanted some answers. "Does anyone else know I'm here?"

"No, and now they won't. Too bad Colin found his cell phone and hit redial to see if you'd called anyone. When he realized the number was Bo's, he called me right away. Bo may get a message from you, but by the time he gets here, he won't get you. You'll be out of the picture, forever!" Nora could see that Lindsay had a manic expression on her face, and her eyes were glowing eerily.

"I called Bo yesterday. He's probably on his way here, right this very minute!" Nora could only hope she was right. If she wasn't, maybe it would at least scare Lindsay out of her obviously psychotic state.

"Just shows you how little you know Bo these days. He never checks his messages!" Lindsay was grinning like the cheshire cat.

Nora tried to sound calm. "You still haven't answered my question, Lindsay. How did you find me?"

"It was all thanks to you, really. You apparently mumbled my name, and Dr. MacIver called me to see if I knew who you were. Oh, did I mention that Dr. MacIver is my brother-in-law?" Lindsay cackled. This was so easy. She should have thought about killing Nora much sooner!

Nora looked at Colin. He was looking at his shoes. He looked defeated, and he was certainly giving Lindsay center stage. Nora shuddered to think what would come next. She fervently hoped Bo did check his messages these days, or she was really in deep trouble! She silently prayed for Bo to be on his way. Compared to the train wreck, she knew Lindsay would inflict much more pain. Oh Bo, please hurry!

Bo's Car, Enroute to Cherryvale

Bo drove faster than a bat out of hell. Now that he had finally put the pieces together, he couldn't believe it! The sound of her voice played over and over in his head. Nora was alive, but that bastard had her somewhere. It all made sense, and now he knew Lindsay and Colin were in cahoots. If Lindsay thought he was angry before about things she'd done in the past, she hadn't seen anything yet. Bo wanted to kill her! He wanted to more than kill her, he wanted to rip her limb from limb. How dare she? When Bo was through with the two of them, they were going to regret the day they were born.

Bo thought briefly about calling Sam, and letting him know that Nora was alive but quickly thought better of it. Sam was always too emotional and would want to interfere. Especially after he'd been spouting that psychic connection garbage and all that. That was the last thing Bo needed right now! What he did need was some clear thinking and maybe real medical attention for Nora. He pulled the car into CrossRoads, hoping upon hope that Ben would be there that early. He was in luck! Bo didn't even turn off his engine.

"Ben! Ben! Grab your medical bag and let's go! NOW!"

"Bo, you know I don't have a medical license anymore..."

"Didn't you hear me? Get your bag and let's go! I'll fill you in in the car. Hurry!"

Ben could see from the look in Bo's eyes that Bo wasn't kidding. He grabbed his bag and followed Bo outside. Bo was already in the car, backing away before Ben could even get his door closed.

"Okay Bo, what's going on?"

"Ben, I'm glad you're sitting down, and I'm even more glad that you were at CrossRoads this morning. You're not gonna believe this, but Nora is alive!"

"Bo are you sure? How can that be? I saw the Jane Doe. It wasn't Nora, Bo."

"No Ben, it wasn't and you want to know why? Because your ex-sister-in-law and her brother-in-law arranged it so you'd see someone else. I can't believe it's true either, but Lindsay and Colin kidnapped Nora and conspired to hide her from us. We've got to hurry and save her before it's too late!"

"But Bo, how did she make it out of the train explosion? Are you sure it's Nora?"

"Yes, Ben, I'm quite sure. She managed to leave a message on my machine yesterday, but I didn't get it until this morning. She sounds completely terrified and in a lot of pain. We've got to help her!"

Ben could see he was annoying Bo with his disbelief. He thought he'd better be quiet so he didn't distract his brother while he was driving so fast. He was going to like having Bo for a brother; Bo was a really good guy. He thought about Sam, his faux brother (LOL! I couldn't resist that one!) and how elated Sam would be to know that Nora wasn't dead. Ben hoped that gaining Bo as a brother wouldn't stop him from keeping Sam as a brother, too. This feud between the two families was getting completely out of control.

Bo was doing some thinking of his own as they sped down the highway. He was shocked that Nora was alive, and even more shocked that someone he almost married could have schemed and connived to keep Nora away from her loved ones like this. Bo suddenly felt the physical sensation of being kicked in the stomach, but strangely, at the same time his heart felt pounds lighter. It was a heady mix, and he could barely concentrate on his driving.

Bo's mind was swirling. He realized he was an idiot for ever letting Nora get away in the first place. Then he did it again by not forgiving her on the train. He couldn't believe Nora had to "die" before he could admit she was the love of his life and that he had also let her down, too. They had both made mistakes, but none of them should have been enough to permanently break them apart.

He remembered the promise he made himself. He wanted his family. His wife and his child. He owed it to them, and to himself. He had shut off his heart for too long. He was the one who needed forgiveness now, not Nora. He shuddered when he thought he could be married to Lindsay right now, and jerked the steering wheel.

"Bo, are you okay?" Ben looked nervous and glanced at the speedometer. He didn't think Bo realized that he was driving 90 miles an hour. He figured if it was Viki, he'd be driving the same way.

"Fine, just a momentary loss of concentration." Ben was certain Bo had a lot on his mind about now.

"Bo, have you told Sam yet?"

"No, not yet. I didn't want him to get emotional and go to pieces. My first priority is to rescue Nora. My second
priority will be to tell her how much I…” Bo cleared his throat. “Many things. I don't want Sam getting in the way. Sounds selfish, I know, but all I can think about right now is how much I have to say to her. How much I have to make up for."

"Doesn't sound selfish to me. I know how much I love Viki, and if we were in the same situation, I'd be acting the same way. I just hope Sam will be all right with all of this."

"He won't have a choice, unfortunately."

Saying it out loud seemed to calm Bo down. He knew what he had to do.

Bo called Hank and told him to get a search warrant for the gallery and to arrest Lindsay if she was there. He filled Hank in on the latest developments with Nora and he could hear Hank's complete astonishment over the phone. Bo gave Hank Colin's address and told him to send an ambulance. Hank told him not to worry about a thing, he would handle everything. He also said he would call Rachel and Nora's parents. Bo knew he could count on Hank, he always could. He quickly thought of Rachel and how happy she would be to know her mother was alive. Bo just hoped it wasn't too late.

Bo screeched to a halt in front of the address that Melanie had given him. He and Ben looked at each other. "Let's go!"
