As Time Flies.....Fan Fiction.....Chapter
7
Last time: Bo realizes what (and who! LOL!) has happened to the Jane Doe missing from Cherryvale. Meanwhile, Lindsay and Colin are going to take care of Nora, once and for all.
Colin's House
Nora was terrified. Lindsay was on a rampage, screaming about how Nora had ruined everything for her. Colin was just standing there like a statue, and Nora wished he would do something. It was clear who was in charge and unfortunately, it wasn't Colin. Nora knew now that Lindsay was pure evil.
Nora fervently wished she were stronger so she could just get up and run away. She didn't want to die without ever seeing Matthew again, or Bo, or even Sam. Nora had had plenty of time to think since the train wreck, and she knew she loved Bo and couldn't live without him. If she wound up not living at all, she knew Matthew would be just fine with Sam, but she just couldn't imagine never seeing him again, smelling his sweet baby smell, or simply holding him in her arms one more time. She felt the same way about Bo.
Lindsay flung her purse on the bed and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper. She unrolled it and smoothed it out on the blanket. She ordered Nora to look at it. Nora felt Lindsay's hot breath on her face. She looked down and was horrified to see it was a picture of herself. She was a Jane Doe, and the picture was asking for her identification from all of the area police departments.
"Look Nora! I'm even better than the cops are! I kept you a secret from everyone, and now there's absolutely nothing you can do about it! If I kept you a secret alive, I can sure as hell keep you a secret dead. So sorry our fun and games have to end!" Lindsay was shrieking. Her voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard. Nora cringed as a fleck of Lindsay's spit landed on her cheek.
Nora watched in horror as Lindsay pulled a hypodermic needle from her purse. She removed the cap, and tested the flow. Liquid spurted from the tip of the needle. Nora looked at Colin beseechingly. Colin looked away.
Lindsay grabbed Nora's arm. "Say goodnight, Nora. After 20 years of torment, you're never gonna ruin anything for me again!" She inserted the needle into Nora's vein and began to squeeze the syringe. This was better than sex. She was going to have it all, and this bitch was never going to bother her again! She closed her eyes in anticipation of her new life with Bo.
Lindsay thought she heard the door close. She knew Colin was weak and couldn't stand to see her do what needed to be done. She kept her eyes closed, enjoying what would be the end of Nora's life and all of her problems. She thought she felt pressure on her arm, that Nora was trying to fight her. She kept her eyes closed and tightened her grip. As if Nora could stop her now!
Lindsay heard Bo's voice. "NORA!" He was bellowing. Lindsay's eyes flew open. Before she could focus she felt an excruciating pain. Bo had ripped the needle from her hand, and in the process slammed her to the ground. "Ben! Check Nora! Is she all right?"
Bo slapped the cuffs on Lindsay. He didn't care if her arm was broken. Colin just stood there in shock. He was too afraid to run, and besides, it wasn't like they didn't know who he was. He knew he was finished.
Lindsay was writhing on the floor. She was in a complete frenzy. She started screaming at Colin. "How could you let them in here! What's wrong with you? I hate you, Colin, you stupid moron!" She tried to kick him.
"Oh, yeah? Well, I hate you too! If it weren't for you, none of this would be happening in the first place! My life is ruined now, and so is yours." Colin sat down on the floor by the handcuffed Lindsay. "Do me a favor and just shut up, will you? No amount of screaming is going to change anything, and I'd like to be arrested in silence if you don't mind!"
Bo saw that Colin and Lindsay weren't going anywhere. He'd deal with them later. He nervously watched Ben examine Nora. Nora wasn't breathing, and her eyes hadn't opened yet. He was terrified that Lindsay had succeeded in her mission.
Ben injected Nora with something and started giving her CPR.
"Come on, Nora! Don't die on me now! Do you have any idea what Bo went through to save you? Come on, Nora!" Ben pushed twice on Nora's chest and breathed into her mouth.
"Come on, Nora! We need you! Your son needs you!"
Push, push, breathe.
"Nora! Come on, Nora!"
Push, push, breathe.
"Nora! I know you're still in there!"
Push, push, breathe.
"Nora, please come back to us!"
Push, push, breathe.
Ben worked furiously. He was thinking of Grace. He couldn't live with himself if he failed his family again, especially this new family.
Bo stood by the side of the bed, his eyes never leaving Nora's face. Tears were forming in his eyes and he felt like his heart would break. He watched Ben try to revive Nora, but it looked futile. "Nooooora!" He heard an animal crying in pain, then realized it was his own voice. He would die if she didn't make it. He couldn't live without her. No way could he lose her twice.
Ben was still working on Nora, but it didn't look good.
Push, push, breathe.
Push, push, breathe.
Bo thought he must be crazy. Did he see Nora's eyelids flicker? Wait a minute, he wasn't crazy! Ben saw it too! Ben broke into a big grin. "I knew you were still in there! You're one tough dame, Nora Buchanan!" Ben sighed audibly. Thank God! He had done it!
Bo was so relieved his legs felt like rubber. He sank onto the bed. Nora's eyes were almost halfway open, but she was as white as a sheet. She gave him a wan smile. "I knew you'd find me, Bo. Please stay with me." She closed her eyes. Bo looked at Ben worriedly.
"She'll be okay, Bo, she's just sleeping. She's had quite an ordeal, and it looks like she wasn't in good shape to begin with. She needs to rest. They'll take good care of her at the hospital. Don't worry. She's a fighter, and she's gonna be all right." Ben smiled at Nora and started to gather his things.
Bo turned his attention back to Nora. He was emotionally drained. His brain was in overdrive, yet his body felt incredibly limp. He forced himself to stand up. Bo caressed Nora's face tenderly, then he bent down and kissed both of her eyelids. One of his tears fell on Nora's cheek.
The ambulance and the paramedics arrived then, along with the Llanview police. Bo wanted to ride with Nora in the ambulance. He sure as hell didn't want them taking her to the Cherryvale clinic! He didn't want her out of his sight for even a second. John Sykes told him to go ahead, he'd make sure Colin and Lindsay were taken back to Llanview and booked on kidnapping and attempted murder charges. Ben said he would drive Bo's car back to Llanview. Bo gave them both a grateful look. He knew he didn't have to say another word.
Bo climbed into the ambulance and sat beside Nora's gurney. She was still unconscious. He held her hand and his eyes never left her face. It was a long ride back to Llanview.
