Christmas Eve 2001.....
Bo brings Matthew to the Community Center to visit Santa.
Santa: Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas Matthew!
Matthew: “You knew my name, how did you know my name?”
Santa: “Well Matthew, I’m Santa Claus, I know everyone’s
name.”
Matthew: “No wait, I know you. You’re Uncle Hank! Look
Daddy, it’s Uncle Hank.”
Hank: “Ok Matthew, I’m Santa’s helper.”
Matthew: “Wow! My Uncle Hank is one of Santa’s helper!”
Bo is just smiling at the site of his son. This is their
first Christmas together. He takes a picture of
Matthew and Santa.
Hank: “Well Matthew what do you want me to tell Santa
to bring you?”
Matthew: “Well, I want a motorcycle like Daddy has.
Hank: “Do you think your Mom will approve of that?”
Matthew: “I don’t think so, she doesn’t like Daddy’s
that much. She always says that she hates
when he goes riding.”
Hank: “Well, what about something else?”
Matthew: “Well, how about a bike. I want a red bike.”
Hank: “Have you been good?”
Matthew: “I guess, because Mommy always says that I am just
like my father, and he’s always
good to me.”
Hank: “Well Matthew, how about I tell Santa to bring you
that red bicycle, as long as you don’t
act like your Dad anymore.”
Matthew (getting off of Hank’s lap): “Ok, now Daddy
and I are going to go shopping to buy
Mommy a present!”
Hank: “Oh yeah, what are you going to get her?”
Matthew: “I don’t know but Daddy has it all planned
out. But you can’t tell her because it’s a
surprise!”
Hank: “Oh Matthew, wait here’s a candy-cane Merry Christmas!”
R.J. comes barging in the room.”
R.J.: “Oh look at Henry, as Santa. Well guess what
you have the wrong guy on the job,
because Santa doesn’t keep parents from their kids.”
Hank: “R.J.. just listen...”
R.J..: “Kerri doesn’t want anything to do with me, because
of you. Do you know how that
feels? To not even know that you have a child and find out you
do, and realize that she hates
you?
Bo: “I do.”
R.J.: Shut up Bo this has nothing to do with you.”
Bo: “Ya know R.J., now you know how I felt when you changed
the DNA tests to say that said
I didn’t have a son. Then to find out later that I do”.
Bo picks up Matthew. “Come on buddy
say by to Uncle Hank.”
Matthew: “Bye Uncle Hank!” ( gives him a hug)
Bo and Matthew go down to Logans.
Jennifer the sales clerk was cleaning the jewelry counter
when Bo and Matthew approached
her.
Jennifer: “May I help you two?”
Bo: “Yes, let me see your engagement rings.”
Jennifer: “Oh, so, you’re finally going to propose to
Ms. Buchanan, Commissioner?”
Bo: “Funny! Marriage is a serious thing, and Nora and I are
going to grow old together, so I
thought I’d just make official. For the last time, of course.”
Jennifer: “Aw that’s so sweet. I’m happy for you.
Now come over here and this is what we
have.”
Bo: “Matthew, which one do you think we should get your mom?
Matthew: “I like that one.” (he points to a gold rings
with a one carat heart shaped diamond,
and a smaller round diamond on each of the side.)
Bo: “I like that one too, do you think Mommy will love it?”
Matthew: “Yeah, because there is a big one, Mommy, and the
other two are me and Rachel.”
Bo: “You are so smart! How did you get that smart?”
Matthew: “Because I’m like you Daddy. I love you Daddy!”
Bo: “Oh I love you too Matthew. Ok Jennifer, I want this
ring, and a pair of diamond earrings.”
Jennifer: “Coming right up Mr. Buchanan.”
Bo and Matthew are walking out of Logans when they saw Ben.
Matthew: “Look Daddy, it’s Uncle Ben!”
Ben: “Hey there Matthew!”
Matthew: “Uncle Ben we got Mommy a gagement ring.”
Ben: “A what?”
Bo: “Matthew! It’s a secret remember?”
Matthew: “Oh yeah, I forgot Daddy. I’m sorry.”
Bo: “It’s O.K. Matthew, but you can’t tell anyone
else because I want your Mom to be
surprised.”
Matthew: “Ok I’m sorry. I love you Daddy. I promise
I won’t tell anyone else about Mommy’s
gagement ring.”
Bo: “Come here Matthew. I love you, and I know that you are
excited, well so am I but we
have to wait for Christmas. Then we’ll give Mommy her present.”
Matthew: “Ok.”
Ben: “It was good seeing you Matthew, but I have to go buy
Aunt Viki a Christmas present. Bo
are still going to come to our house for Christmas eve? Kevin
and Joey are going to be there.”
Bo: “Yeah, we’ll be there.”
Ben: “Great see you there. Bye Matthew.”
Matthew: “Daddy, I’m hungry.”
Bo: “Ya know I am to, how about we go to the diner?”
Matthew: “Yay!!!! I love the diner!”
The Diner....
Matthew orders chicken nuggets and hot chocolate and Bo
orders his regular, and orders a
take home for Nora.
Jessica walks up to Bo’s table and sits down.
Jessica: “Hey Uncle Bo!”
Bo: “Hey Jessie.” he gets up and gives her a kiss.
Jessica: “Hey Matthew. Are you ready for Santa to come?”
Matthew: “Yes, I can’t wait!”
Jessica: “Oh Uncle Bo look at my birthday present from Cristian.”
She shows him the ring on
her finger, it was a simple round cut half carat diamond.
Bo: “Oh Jessica! You’re getting married, Oh sweetie
I’m so happy for you.”
Cristian walks over there almost on cue. and sits down next
to Matthew, across from Jessica.
Bo: “Hey Cristian you better take care of my niece, or you’ll
have to answer to me.”
Matthew: “Jessica can I see your ring?” she shows him.
“Oh it’s really pretty Daddy and I got
Mommy .......” He notices Bo’s look. “Oh man! I
didn’t say anything.”
Jessica: “Did you get Nora an engagement ring Uncle Bo?”
Bo (sighs): “Yeah, but it’s supposed to be a surprise,
but I have a feeling that someone here is
going to tell her.”
In the car on the way home.....
Matthew: “Daddy I’m sorry. I promise I won’t
say it again.”
Bo: “You see Matthew that when you make a promise you are
supposed to keep it. That means
that you don’t tell anyone about the ring. I know, that you’re
excited, and I am to, but I want
Mommy to be really surprised when I give it to her. Ok?”
Matthew: “OK I really don’t mean it. You know what Daddy?
I’m going to forget about it. I
don’t know what you got Mommy for Christmas.”
