SoapNet- "One Life To Love" Chat with Hillary B. Smith February 28, 2002   HBS --- Hi, It's Hillary and I'm here and I'm so glad that you're here. Thank you for joining us in this chat.   OLTLday1 --- Do you have a "most embarrassing" moment story to share about filming an episode? HBS --- Yes! Next question.....   jaxangel1949 --- How do you feel about Bo and Nora getting back together? We want this to happen. HBS --- I had such a great time with Bob Woods the first time around and I can only imagine that I'll have as good a time the second time around. Since we act the show but don't write the show, though, I'm afraid I'm not the right person to ask if they're going to get back together.   BonNORA4EVR --- What are your feelings about OLTL going live for a week in May? Are you looking forward to it or not? Once again I want to thank you for the opportunity of finally meeting you at SSW this past year, since you are one of the main reasons I even watch the show. I absolutely adore you as Nora. You do a fantastic job even with the garbage they give you sometimes. HBS --- Thank you for all the nice things that you said. I'm honored. About the live week, I'm thrilled. Soaps are as close to live theater as you can get, and now we will actually be live theater. And as long as I'm not the one between the sheets, I'm happy as a clam! LOL!! Love scenes have never been my favorite thing to do, and I certainly don't want to do them on live television. It's a brilliant idea and i I can't wait.   yatlady --- I would like to know if working with Catherine Hickland and Ty Treadway is as much fun as you guys make it look....and could you give Ty a kiss for me??? ( I suffer from Nora-always-gets-to-kiss-Troy envy) Thanks!! HBS --- I don't blame you one bit! Yes, working with Catherine Hickland and Ty Treadway is the most fun. I've gotten it for two years now, and I love it. I will happily give Ty a smooch for you.   soapangel33 --- I would like to know how you feel about the way the writers have made Nora so vulnerable in comparison to the spitfire she used to be? I know the Colin fiasco would traumatize anyone, but they've really really softened Nora dramatically!!! HBS --- I feel very vulnerable....There's a difference between being vulnerable and victimized. I don't mind being vulnerable, but I don't like being a victim. Unfortunately, I've had to play both, and I hope it's been palatable to watch. Everyone needs a little soft side.   Superrr98 --- When are Bo and Nora getting back together and where did you learn to speak Farsi? Thanks! HBS --- Ask the producers the first part of the question (wagging my finger at you)! I learned to speak Farci when I moved to Iran and lived there for a summer back in 1974 when the Shah was still in power. A lot has changed since then, including my ability to speak Farci.   Catfan_86 --- What made you want to become an actor and how did you go about it? Thank you and I hope you get nominated for a Daytime Emmy this year. HBS --- I just always wanted to be an actor, ever since I was a little, little, little, little kid. Before kindergarten even, I just always wanted to be to be an actress. I don't know why. I guess it's that over achiever/youngest child syndrome.   daytmdrmr --- Did you ever take dancing lessons? I loved watching you and Bob Woods dance as Bo and Nora. You two were spectacular! HBS --- Yes, I went to ballroom dancing for four years form the fifth grade to the eighth grade. Then I took jazz, tap, and modern, but ballroom dancing is really the best.   onelifer35 --- Thank you for taking the time to do this. You are my favorite actress. My question is what do you do to unwind on your own and simply take special care of you? HBS --- A lot of times Cat and I will go to a nice dinner or drinks after work. Or whoever I'm in scenes with for the next day, we'll go and have dinner to run lines. But the most relaxing is time with my children whenever I can grab it. And time out on the water, I like to be on the water.   Waken2b --- What do you see on prime-time television these days that just gets your juices flowing? Is there a prime time show or a role on a prime time show you would just love the opportunity to participate in, and if so, what show or character? Are you attending SSW West? HBS --- I love "The West Wing," and I love the Allison Janey character (the press secretary). And I love "Frasier. " I will be indeed attending Super Soap Weekend (West ) this April for "One Life To Live" as well.   Zabbado62 --- Nora and Bo are my favorite characters and that has to do with your incredible chemistry together. When you two broke up, those scenes had me crying along with you. One scene that still sticks out to me is the one where you are in the hospital after having Matthew, and Bo comes in to tell you that he slept with Lindsey. Those scenes broke my heart. I could see the pain in your faces, and you both delivered impeccably, as usual. I wept right along with you. My question: How difficult is it for you do to those heart wrenching scenes? Do you just get up when the director yells "cut," or do they stay with you? HBS --- That scene I remember particularly well and it was very, very difficult. I was trying not to cry because I didn't want to cry in those scenes, and I couldn't help it. I just started choking. It was the end of a wonderful relationship on camera that I enjoyed off camera as well. It stayed with me for a while.   Shauna916800 --- What is the hardest part of being a successful actress? HBS --- Maintaining your private life and keeping it private is one of the hardest parts of being and actress! When I'm alone with my children, I like to be anonymous and be with just them. Sometimes it's very hard. Very nice people come up and say very nice things, but I like time alone with my kids and my family.   Betty212121 --- How do you and Catherine Hickland get along after shooting a scene? Or after hours? Or is it hard to work with her, for fear of LOL? HBS --- She's a total and utter trauma. LOL!!! She's a delight and a joy and one of my dearest friends, which is the only reason I'd let her punch me, strangle me, or hit me with a piece of sculpture.   sky492 --- I am so glad they have kept your character so classy and 'good.' It is such a pleasure to see a character staying that way. I hope you will stay on the show for as long as you care to. Is there any other way you would like Nora to be? Do you wish to have more court scenes? I like to watch you as a lawyer and would like to see more of you defending the wrong-doers in town. HBS --- I like the courtroom scenes as well. They are a lot of work but a lot of fun. I like my scenes with Matthew, so I guess I'd like to keep showing the maternal side of Nora as well. And I hope she can get her sense of humor back and have a good giggle every now and then.   madison_blythe --- I know you have a great affection for Nora, but do you sometimes wish that she would just go off the deep end like Lindsey just for the fun of it? HBS --- YES!!!   lorette32 --- I guess I should have asked will those of us who love Larry and Nathan ever get to see you in a nice romantic storyline with Sam and Hank. Larry and Nathan are wonderful men to behold, do you like working with them? HBS --- Simultaneously?!?!! I don't think Hank or Sam would go in for that. I don't think Larry or Nathan would go in for that. Or maybe they would....I don't know how Nathan or Larry would feel, butI'd be happy to work with either of them. I think that I would love to say that I'm blessed with a cast that gets along and we're all thrilled to work with each other. So there really isn't anyone I wouldn't enjoy being paired with. I happen to be very close to both Larry and Nathan.   Good-bye and Thanks --- Unfortunately, I have to go. The demands of the studio are making themselves known.
