All You Need is Love...........part 4
"Do you have someone else in your life Bo?"
"Yes. Her name is Melanie McIver" Bo took the picture
of Melanie off his desk and showed it to David. After looking
at the picture he knew he had Bo cornered with no chance of escape.
"And do you love her?"
"Yes I love her. We're engaged to be married."
"Do you love her as much as you love Nora?"
Bo avoided making eye contact with David and stared at the door
behind him for a few seconds then he let his head drop to his
chest and whispered "No".

Later that day at Nora's house
Matthew was sitting on David's lap in Nora's office. The
child was trying to explain his latest computer game as David
marvelled at all the new technology he had missed while he was
gone.
"Here, you try Uncle David. I'll help you." David laughed
as he tried to figure out Matthew's less than complete instructions.
He was fascinated by Matthew's dexterity and concentration.
Nora smiled as she entered the office "Watch it David,
I've never won a game against him, and believe me, I've tried"
"I believe, I believe"
"Matthew honey, go wash up. We're having company for dinner"
"Who?"
"You'll see, now hurry up mister"
"One more game?" Matthew looks at Nora and realizes
there wouldn't be another game right now
"I'm going. Uncle David are you staying with us?"
"Would you like that Matthew? I'd like to stay a little longer"
David helps Matthew slide off his lap. "Yea I want you to
stay forever. Can he mommy?"
"Wouldn't that be nice, now scoot!"
"So, have a nice walk this morning?" Nora didn't
want to invade his space, she just wanted to show that she cared
enough to ask
"Very nice, thanks. What a lovely town. Oh yea, and I ran
into Bo Buchanan"
Nora snapped her head around and shot David one of those looks
- the "you did what??" kind of looks that always stopped
him in his tracks
"What?" David feigned innocence
"Nothing...really.... what did you two talk about?"
David wanted to tell her that Bo felt the same way about her as
she did for him, that Melanie wouldn't stand a chance if they
would just admit their feelings for each other, that come hell
or high water, he was going to see them together before he left
town - "Not much really... just the usual pleasantries."
Ooops there was another one of her looks. This time it was an
"I doubt it" one, but he was saved by the bell - the
doorbell.
"Viki, so glad you could come, and....."
"Hope you don't mind that I brought Starr? She's had a rough
few weeks"
Or years, Nora thought to herself "No, not a'toll Viki. (Sorry
I don't think I'll ever be able to write ‘at all' again).
Starr, Matthew is out back, why don't you join him." With
that Starr ran through the house and slammed the back door shut.
Nora was about to say something when Viki interjected "Don't
worry Nora, I've had a talk with her. She's on her best behaviour"
"I'm sure she is. Viki, I have someone I'd like to introduce
you to" Nora linked her arm into David's.
The introductions were made, the story told. Viki was very interested
in David and asked if he would be interested in telling his story
through the Banner. "Not yet Viki, there are some political
problems that have to be resolved first, but when they are, I'll
come and talk to you"
"I understand. Well, welcome to Llanview, I can see Nora
is thrilled to have you here safe and sound. How about thinking
about joining the Llanview Hospital staff? We sure could use another
ER doctor"
"I was just telling Nora how lovely this town seems to be.
You just never know. But first I need some time to unwind and
to slowly get myself back into the swing of things.
A cloud of concern quickly covered Nora's face "Speaking
of swings, it's awfully quiet out back. I think I'll just go check
it out"
As Viki and David sit in the living room chatting, Nora
comes back in holding Matthew by the back of his collar, Starr
walking innocently behind.
"Excuse us for a few minutes. Matthew and a mud puddle collided!"
"I didn't do it!" Starr checked out her aunt for a reprimand
"I'm sure you didn't" Viki and Nora had matched expressions
‘oh no, not Starr!'
"Here let me take him Nora. Uncle David to the rescue"
David held Matthew away from himself and walked him upstairs to
the bathroom.
Nora was about to sit down with Viki when the doorbell rang.
"Must be Hank. I invited him too" she called out to
her friend as she walked to the door
"Bo? Hi, come in" As Bo walked further into the house
he sees Nora's guests
"Oh I'm sorry. I've come at a bad time. Hi Viki.....Starr!"
"No no no, it's ok. Come in, stay for dinner"
"Who's cooking?"
"I did"
"Gee, I'd love to but..." Nora gave her familiar slap
to his shoulder
"Don't worry silly, Carlotta delivered. Now can you stay?"
"When do we eat?"
As they were talking in the hall, Hank arrived and took Nora into
his arms.
"You okay honey?"
"I'm getting there Hank. Having David here really helps."
Bo's heart skipped a beat at the thought of someone other than
himself being there for her. He really needed to do something
about that.
Dinner was a huge success and as Nora pushed her guests
back into the living room she started to clear away the dishes.
"Need some help Red?"
"It sure seems that way these days, doesn't it?"
"I think you're doing pretty well considering all you've
been through. I don't know what's worse - thinking you were dead
or thinking about what you really went through. I'm very sorry
that I couldn't save you after the train wreck. I could have prevented
everything that happened to you"
"Bo, it's not your fault. I've been told that you did everything
you could to get me out. It's not your fault what Colin and Lindsay
did to me. I don't blame you, don't blame yourself." Nora
felt the tears forming in her eyes and immediately began to cry.
For some reason she felt she could cry with Bo, that he gave her
permission to do so, and she did. She let it all out in her tears.
Bo slowly reached for her and wrapped her in his arms "let
it out Red, let it all out."
After a few minutes Nora pulled away and looked up at Bo "I'm
so sorry. You just made me feel so comfortable. And look, I've
soaked your shirt" Nora smiled through her tears "You're
gonna have some ‘splainin to do Ricky!"
"Aw Nora, Melanie and I..."
Just then Hank came running into the dining room.
"Call 911. David just passed out"
