All You Need is Love........part 5
Bo slowly reached for her and wrapped her in his arms "let
it out Red, let it all out."
After a few minutes Nora pulled away and looked up at Bo "I'm
so sorry. You just made me feel so comfortable. And look, I've
soaked your shirt" Nora smiled through her tears "You're
gonna have some splainin to do Ricky!"
"Aw Nora, Melanie and I..."
Just then Hank came running into the dining room.
"Call 911. David just passed out"
****************************************************
Viki took Starr and Matthew back to her house as Bo, Nora and Hank followed the ambulance to Llanview Hospital. Bo and Hank tried to reassure Nora but the fear of losing her brother once again was overwhelming.
They rushed into the ER as David was being wheeled into
one of the cubicles. As Nora tried to push her way into the room
she was pushed back by a pimply faced kid who looked no older
than a 16.
"I'm sorry, you can't go in there right now"
"I can, and I will...please get out of my way"
"I'm sorry ma'am, not now"
"But that's my brother. He needs me to....who the heck are
you anyway?"
"Bill Jackson, chief resident. I'll come out and fill you
in as soon as I can"
Nora was about to continue the argument then realized she was
keeping David from getting the care he needed. "Fine, but
I'm calling Dr Walek. Oh God Larry where are you when I need you?"
"I'm right here Nora. What's going on?" Nora whipped
around and was face to face with Larry.
"You have to help him Larry" Larry takes the chart from
the resident and looks at the preliminary data. "Hanen, David
Hanen...wasn't that your last name?"
Nora quickly filled him in on some of the details and went to
the waiting room to join Bo and Hank as Larry went into David's
room. They waited and waited and waited. At one point Hank was
beeped and he left for his office with the promise that they would
call him when they found out anything. Nora began to sit, pace,
sit, pace until Bo couldn't take much more.
"You're making me nauseous"
"Thank you very much. Bo it's been over 2 hours. I can't
stand it. I'm going in"
"Umm no you're not. You're going to SIT here and let the
staff do their work. You know Larry won't keep you waiting longer
than necessary"
"Bo?"
"Yea?"
"Go home! No seriously, go home - Melanie must be very concerned"
"True, she may be very concerned...but not about me. You
see she walked out on me last night. Poof, she's gone!"
"Oh Bo, I'm so sorry. What happened?"
"Well she just kept telling me something over and over again
and I kept denying it... until last night. I realized she was
right. I couldn't deny it anymore. She packed up and left. She
won't be back"
"She might... you never know. Call her"
"I don't want to Nora. I'm relieved that she's gone. Last
night after she left I kept waiting for the sky to fall, and guess
what, it didn't - unless it fell when I was asleep, cus I had
the best night's sleep I've had in a long time"
"May I ask what the big revelation was?"
"Sure, ask away" Nora looks at Bo and smiles
"OK...Bo, what was the big revelation last night?"
"The big revelation last night was that I am in love with..........Larry!"
"Larry?" Bo pointed down the hall and both he and Nora
watched as Larry approached.
Nora sprang from her chair and ran up to him "How is he?
You've been in there for such a long time!"
"I'm sorry Nora. We don't have all the tests back yet but
my best guess is that he picked up a nasty virus during his imprisonment.
We'll know more tomorrow so why don't you go in and see him for
a few minutes then go home and the two of you can get some rest"
"A virus? How bad is he Larry?"
"We'll start the IV antibiotics as soon as we know what we
are working with. His temperature was very high when he first
came in, but it's coming down slowly. He'll be here for a few
days"
"Do you think I should tell the family? They don't know he's
here yet"
"That's not my decision to make - if you're asking me if
he's going to be ok, well, I can't really say until a proper diagnosis
can be made. Talk to him about it. Personally I think he needs
all the help he can get, physically as well as mentally. Sounds
like he's been through a terrible ordeal."
"He hasn't told me much. He's been so great listening to
all of my problems that I didn't give him much of a chance to
talk about his. Well, things are going to change now. Thanks Larry.
I'll just go in for a few minutes then I'll let Bo take me home.
Larry went off to the nurses station and started dictating a note
for the chart. Bo went out to get the car as Nora went in to see
David.
"Hey bro, you really scared me there for a minute" Nora
sat beside him and held his hand. He had IV's and oxygen running
and a cardiac monitor beeping rhythmically at the head of the
bed. He slowly opened his eyes and that famous Hanen grin filled
the room
"Your dinner parties are always so boring. I had to do something
to liven it up"
"It was kind of boring wasn't it. I just wanted to say good
night and tell you I'd be back early in the morning. Bo's waiting
for me"
"Bo? He stayed with you here all evening?"
"He did"
"I like the sound of that sis"
"Bo's just a very good friend of mine David"
"Oh sure, just a very good friend"....he smiled then
closed his eyes to sleep.
Bo escorted Nora up to her front door and they stood there
awkwardly after Nora had unlocked it.
"David's in good hands Nora. I'm sure he'll make a good recovery"
"I hope you're right Bo. I couldn't stand seeing him go through
too much more. I want to see him getting his life back together
and find some happiness"
"Sounds like someone else I know! You deserve some of that
too"
"I think we could all do with a bit of happiness in our lives.
(Nora shivers) My it's getting cool, wanna come in? I could make
us some tea"
"I'd like that. I hate the thought of going home to an empty
house"
"Me too. Viki said Matthew was asleep when I called so he's
staying put for the night. And besides, you said you'd help clear
away the remains of dinner that I didn't get to finish"
"I'm right behind you - lead on"
It didn't take long to clear the table and load the dishwasher.
As Nora stretched to put away a wine glass on the top shelf of
the cupboard, Bo couldn't help but stare at her amazing figure.
He stepped towards her and reached up to help her place the glass
on the shelf, his body tightly pressed against her back. Their
outstretched hands touched and after the glass was safely in it's
spot, Bo entwined his fingers with Nora's and brought their hands
down in front of her, his arm tightly wrapped around her waist.
The familiar scent of her hair, the closeness of their bodies
was more than Bo could stand. He swept her hair away with his
free hand and started kissing her neck and upper back. Nora's
back arched, straining to get closer to the source of these incredible
sensations. Bo stepped back slightly before Nora moaned "don't
stop Bo, don't stop". He turned her to face him and they
made eye contact. Any doubts about whether this was right or whether
they should stop quickly disappeared. Bo reached out for Nora
and she melted into his arms. He looked down and saw her lips
parting, ever so slightly, a signal that just could not be denied.
He wanted her so much and he knew she was just as eager. Bo lowered
his face to Nora's and their lips met, kissing very gently at
first, barely touching one another, then increasing in strength
until their kisses became so passionate neither one could feel
their legs beneath them.
Nora was the first to break away, stumbling as she tried to get
her balance. "Bo..."
"It's always been you Red. No matter what we've both said
or done to each other, it's always been you that I've wanted"
"And I, you. I tried to let you go, but you were always in
my heart. I know I can't remember everything that happened between
us, but what I know is that I remember the good times - the BoandNora
of three years ago."
"God, I would do anything to get back what we had, Red"
"You really mean that Bo? A lot has changed...for both of
us"
"One thing hasn't changed Nora. I still love you, maybe even
more than before, if that's possible"
"It's possible cuz I feel it too. I love you too Bo, I love
you with all my heart"
Bo took Nora's hand and led her upstairs to the bedroom where
they put their words into action all night long.
Late into the night Nora kissed a sleeping Bo gently on the cheek and got out of bed. She called the hospital and was told that David was sleeping soundly and that his temperature was almost normal. She found herself outside in the back garden sitting under the familiar star studded sky she and David had sat under the night before. A shooting star shot out across the sky just begging for a wish. It wasn't necessary. All her wishes had come true today.
