PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK
Robert S. Woods & Hillary B. Smith
(Bo and Nora, ONE LIFE TO LIVE)

Soap Opera Digest
Feb. 8, 2000

We know how Lindsay feels. On New Year's Eve on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, she peered through a window and glimpsed her worst fears come to life: the happy, lively figures of Bo and Nora dancing-----a twosome that just look right together. No wonder she had a fit.(And, to Catherine Hickland's credit, a juicy, all- out hissy fit. )

We, on the other hand, were thrilled at what we saw. Blame it on the actors: Robert S. Woods and Hillary B. Smith are the Fred and Ginger of OLTL because they make it look easy. Whether Woods is squinting bemusedly at Nora's twittery, almost schoolgirlish behavior around him or they're having a serious conversation about why Nora is marrying Sam , the two actors make sense together, their interplay still razor -sharp. Together, Woods and Smith convey joy and satisfaction with every line, every gesture they make.

Like Lindsay, viewers have been on the outside looking in these past months as Bo and Nora have grown further apart. But suddenly, alone in the warehouse, sparks flew between the exes as if they'd never had a rift. Bo even started calling Nora "Red" again. When Nora revived Bo from an electrical shock, he muttered, "I'm a little out of it right now, but basically I'm still the same old Bo." "The same old Bo," said Nora, half weeping, half laughing---all loving affection. Bo and Nora together again, however briefly , was a perfect way to ring in the new millennium---and underscored that this is one couple that's impossible to get over.
