The Past Revisited.
Over a year ago:
Bo was brought straight to the hospital after being rescued
from the hurricane. His condition was serious and the ER team
worked on him for hours trying to stabilize him. After 12 hours
of antibiotics and fluid replacement he starts to come around.
Bo: Nora, Nora are you here?
Nora: Yes Bo, I'm right here, beside you. Bo, you're back. You're
in Llanview Hospital.
Bo: Nora, don't leave me.
N: I'll be right here. I'll stay right here with you. (Stroking
his face and kissing his cheek)
B: I love you Red. I'm so sorry.
N: I love you too, commish (tears streaming down her face). I'm
sorry too.
B: Why...sorry?
N: We'll talk about it later. Just get some sleep. I'll stay right
here.
Bo falls asleep and Nora sits back in the chair and thinks - I
can't tell him, not yet. Does he remember what I told him when
he was out in the storm? Does he remember that I told him that
I was pregnant?
Nora falls asleep too and has unbelievable nightmares. They go
on, and on, and on...cabana, Sam, Woman of the Year dinner, Lindsay,
separation, Sam, a baby, Matthew, Club Indigo, Lindsay, Bo, I
love you too, Matthew's real father, divorce papers, Bo and Lindsay,
Sam, engagement.......
Nora wakes up with a start and takes a minute to get her bearings.
She starts thinking about her dream and thanks God that it is
just a dream, a very, very bad dream. She looks over at Bo and
smiles. He is sleeping comfortably and as Nora tries to get up,
he opens his eyes and smiles at her.
B: So we're going to have a baby, huh?
N: Bo...
B: The thought of you and me and a baby is what kept me alive.
After spreading Drew's ashes at sea I felt so down, I didn't know
how to go on, then I heard your beautiful voice and the beautiful
news and I felt some strength return.
N: I wanted to bring you back. I was so afraid of losing you.
I didn't know how to get through to you, that's when I told you
about the baby.
B: I heard everything you said to me. I heard you at the lodge
and when I was out on the boat and I didn't mean to shut you out.
I was wrong, and I know it, but I was in so much pain. When the
storm became so bad, I thought that I might not make it. All I
wanted was to come back to you and have the chance to raise our
child and be a family.
N: You heard me all along?
B: I heard you, but the pain of losing my son was just too overwhelming.
I didn't know how to share it with you. I love you so much, I
hope you know that, but I was just so confused.
N: Bo, I don't know how to tell you this, but....
Just then the ER team enters the room and Nora is asked to leave.
She gets up and leaves feeling very shaky.
Out in the hall she grabs a chair just in time and puts her head
down to her knees.
Larry walks by and sees Nora and asks if she can come to his office.
She tries to stand but sits down again quickly.
L: Nora, what's going on?
N: I guess that I didn't sleep well here last night, I kept having
these horrible dreams.
L: Have you eaten anything?
N: No, nothing.
L: Let's try going to my office again. I want to examine you.
Larry held Nora's arm and they walked to his office. The examination
took about 15 minutes and after a few tests and a cold drink Nora
went back to Bo's room.
The team was standing around the desk.
Dr: Mrs Buchanan, your husband seems to be making a remarkable
recovery. Whatever you're doing, keep it up.
Nora smiles and goes back into Bo's room. The news will have to
wait.
B: They're kicking me out tomorrow. Great news huh
N: Gee and I thought I'd have a few more days of freedom.
B: No way, I gotta get home and start taking care of my wife.
She's having a baby you know.
N: Is that so? A baby..
Nora spent the day at the hospital. Hank and Rachel came
by to check on Bo as did Asa, Clint and Viki. As it was getting
dark, Hank came back and offered to take Nora home and Bo insisted
that she go.
When she got home, Nora climbed into bed and fell asleep as soon
as her head hit the pillow.
The next day as she was about to leave the phone rang. It
was Larry.
N: Hello
L: Hi Nora. I have the results from your tests. Can you stop by
and see me this morning before you take Bo home?
N: I'm on my way. See you soon.
Nora is crying as she leaves Larry's office. She tries to
collect herself before she enters Bo's room.
N: WE'RE HAVING A BABY, BO.
B: I know we are, lets go home.
