THE ROAD TO REUNION

It has recently been revealed that Bo is Matthew's father, however, Bo and Nora are nowhere near a reconciliation.

Sam and Lindsay are off together licking their wounds.

Bo is still living at the Palace and Nora has returned to their home with Matthew.

Nora is concerned about Bo's behavior toward her and his son, but inside she is overjoyed that Bo is his father.

She enters the house with Matthew in her arms, struggling with her briefcase, diaper bag, keys, etc. She drops the bags and heads to the couch to sit down.

Matthew is starting to fall asleep and Nora sits back on the couch and starts to think of Bo and all the memories on THAT couch....the talks, the laughter, the tears, the food, the movies, the love...and her mind lingers on the love.

Oh if the couch could talk, she and Bo would be in a lot of trouble!

Nora heads upstairs to put Matthew down in his crib.

She decides to take a hot shower to relax. She places the baby monitor on the sink and her thoughts drift away like the lather of the soap.

After her shower, she realizes she is very hungry and decides to go out for a bite to eat.

Nora: Hi! Maryann, it's Nora. Can you watch Matthew for me while I get something to eat? Great. I'll probably be an hour or so. I'll be at Rodi's if you need me.

Nora puts on jeans and a black sweater and heads to Rodi's craving a cheeseburger and fries.

FORWARD TO RODI'S

Bo leans on the bar, lost in all his thoughts about his life and his son. His son is now 6 months old and he doesn't know him at all. It's history repeating itself he says to himself as he gulps another slug of beer.

He glances around the room and his eyes meet Nora's.

Nora smiles shyly at him and heads for a table.

Bo tips his beer at her and turns back to the bar and orders another.

Nora orders her usual favorite - a cheeseburger, fries, a side of chili on the side and a root beer.

Bo laughs and grins as he overhears Nora's order; just like always he thinks to himself.

Nora fiddles with the stuff on the table, doing her best not to look at him, wishing the food would come soon.

When she does look up towards him, she is surprised to see 4 empty beer bottles around him, while he works on a 5th.

Nora grows concerned. It's not like Bo to over do it. She keeps an eye on him as she starts her meal.

He knows he should go over to speak to Nora, but he is reluctant to as feelings of guilt, shame, and anger wash over him.

Guilt - because he didn't fight back or talk to Nora when this all started.

Shame - because he fell for Lindsay and all her lies when he was warned by plenty of people, including Nora.

Anger - at Sam and Lindsay for their deceit in ruining his life, causing him to lose Nora and his own new baby.

Nora finishes her dinner and decides to leave, but just then Bo orders another beer and Nora decides to approach him.

Nora: Hold that beer Kim.

Nora: Bo, don't you think you've had enough?

Bo: No. I want to keep going until the pain goes away.

Nora: Bo please come and sit with me and we can have some coffee and talk. I think you need to eat something too.

Deep inside Bo knows Nora is right, he wants to say no to her and leave, but he stays.

Bo stumbles a bit as they head to Nora's table.

Bo: How's Matthew - my son? He makes a point of saying.

Nora: He's just fine. What's going on with you tonight Bo?

Bo: I'm just trying to forget.

Nora: Or run away. You've already lost 6 months with Matthew, are you going to forget forever?

Bo: It's through no fault of my own Nora.

Nora: Mine either Bo. None of this would have happened if Lindsay wasn't around. Every time I think about what she did to me...us, I could scream and cry at the same time. She deserves to be put in jail for what she did.

Bo: She wouldn't have been around if Sam wasn't here.

Nora: That's true, but I didn't bring Sam to town either. Bo, you're talking in circles. I think you've had too much to drink. Drink your coffee and eat something.

Meanwhile, Hank and Sykes come in. Hank programs the jukebox with some Bo and Nora favorites.

"Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles plays in the background......"So take a good look at my face, you'll see my smile looks out of place, if you look closer it's easy to trace the tracks of my tears....."

Bo: Appropriate song. Hey Hank, John! Come on over.

Nora: Bo, I wanted you and I to talk.

Hank: Hi guys. What's up? It's good to see you two together.

Nora: Well Hank, actually Bo and I were talking.

Bo: No, Hank, John, sit down.

Nora: Bo!

Bo: I want to talk with my buddies.

Hank: Bo, how much have you had to drink?

Bo: Not enough.

John: It doesn't look good for the commissioner to be out getting drunk Bo.

Bo: Why not? Everyone in this godforsaken town knows all of my business anyway - what's the difference if they see me drunk?!?

Nora: Bo, maybe we should leave now. I'll take you home.

Bo: Home? What home? I don't have a home.

Nora: You can stay with me tonight. You're in no condition to drive anyway. Hank, John, will you help me with him?

Hank: Sure Nora. Come on Bo, get up, let's go and try not to make a scene.

Bo: I don't want to go yet. Nora, remember these songs? These are all our favorites.

Now "Baby, I Need your Loving" by the Four Tops comes up....."Baby, I need your loving, baby, I need your loving, although you're never near, your voice I often hear, another day, another night, I long to hold you tight, cause I'm so lonely....Baby, I need your loving, got to have all your loving......"

Nora: Yes I remember. Come on, we can talk at home.

Hank, John, and Nora help Bo into the car.

Nora can't help but laugh at Bo singing to himself in the car on the way home.

Nora: Just think Bo, you can spend some time with Matthew. I want you to have all the time with him you want you know.

Bo: Thanks. I want to. I guess I'm just afraid. He's so used to Sam.

Nora: He'll love you more and you'll do fine. You just need time together.

Bo and Nora walk into their home.

Bo pauses and looks around.

Bo: You haven't changed the place.

Nora: No, why would I?

Bo: I just figured you and Sam would make it your home.

Nora: No, we didn't and boy am I glad of that now.

Nora: Maryann, I'm back. How is he?

Maryann: Oh, he's fine. I fed him about a half hour ago and he's sleeping again.

Maryann: Hello Mr. Buchanan.

Bo: Hi - how are you?

Maryann: Well, I guess I'll leave. See you tomorrow Mrs. Buchanan.

B&N: Goodnight.

Nora: Let me set up the guest room for you.

Bo sits down on the couch. Bo starts to think of the memories of the couch....the talks, the laughter, the tears, the food, the movies, the love.....his last thoughts are of the love as he falls asleep.

PART TWO

Nora comes down the stairs and sees Bo fast asleep on the couch.

She covers him with the blanket from the back of the couch, touches his hair lightly, and blows him a kiss.

As she goes upstairs, she smiles thinking how good it feels to have him in the house again.

Saturday morning dawns and Matthew rises early.

Nora awakens and gathers Matthew and she heads downstairs.

Matthew's gurgling and cooing wakes up Bo.

Bo: Where am I?

Nora (laughing): Bo, you slept here last night. Are you feeling okay?

Bo: Uh, yeah, I guess so.

Nora: Well, I thought I would run out for coffee and bagels and you could take care of your son.

Bo: Nora, I'm so sorry about last night. I think maybe I should just go.

Nora: No. We didn't get to talk last night. We have to work things out.

Bo: You're right. I want to talk to you. But, I don't know if I'm ready.

Nora: Bo, sit down, take your son, feed him and I'll be right back.

Bo: Nora..., wait, I....

Nora leaves.

Bo (to Matthew): Well, here we are, just you and me Matthew. I guess I should introduce myself. I am your dad. Yup, that's right. I am your father and you are my son. Wow! I never thought I would say that.

But, Matthew, ever since I met your mom, I hoped for this day. I always wanted us to have a family, but I guess I'll just have to settle for weekends and some holidays with you since I don't think your mom and I will get back together. I want you to know though, that I love your mother, always have, always will.

Nora walks in and overhears what Bo just said.

Nora: I'm back. I've got breakfast. How did you make out Bo?

Bo: I did okay. He's still in one piece, he says laughing.

Nora: Bo, I heard what you just said to Matthew.

Bo: What was that?

Nora: That you love me, always have, always will.

Bo: Um, well Red, it's the truth. I want my son to know that I love him and I love his mother. I just don't think we'll ever get back together. Even though I want to more than you know.

Nora: You called me "Red". Oh, how I've missed hearing that.

Bo: Nora...Red, there are so many things I miss. I don't know where to begin.

Nora: Well, let's start over the bagels.

PART THREE

Matthew plays in the center of the floor as Bo and Nora watch over him with great pride and joy.

Nora: Bo, I love you. I want to get back together. I believe we can work everything out. I want us to get counseling too. I want us to be a family.

Bo: Nora, are you serious? Are you sure? I'm willing to do anything. Can you ever forgive me for the way I acted over this past year?

Nora: Yes! I'm absolutely sure and I'll forgive you if only you forgive me first.

Bo (Laughing): It's a deal. Why don't we go out to dinner tonight? I'll pick you guys up around 7:00.

Nora: Oh that sounds great Bo, I can't wait.

Bo: Well thanks for breakfast, but I really should get going. I'll see you later Red.

Bo walks to the door with Nora and Matthew and as he turns to leave, he kisses Matthew and asks Nora if he can kiss her too.

Nora: Of course you can. After all we are still husband and wife right?

Bo: Right!

Bo nervously and awkwardly reaches for Nora and kisses her lovingly and passionately, like the very first time.

Bo: Well honey, see you tonight.

Bo arrives right on time and Nora and Matthew are ready to go.

Nora: Bo, I think you should move back in. Matthew needs to get to know you. You can stay in the guest room.

Bo: Wow! I wasn't expecting this. Of course, I'll move back in. I want to spend more time with Matthew.

Nora: Bo, would you be mad if we don't go out tonight? Maybe we could just order a pizza.

Bo: That sounds great. I'll call Rudy's - one large pie with pepperoni and mushrooms, right?

Nora: Right!

Bo places the call.

Bo: Should take around 30 minutes.

Nora: Would you like to put Matthew down in his crib for his nap?

Bo: I would love it.

Bo carries Matthew upstairs and places him in his crib.

Bo looks around the nursery....looking at all the toys and decor that fill the room.

Bo notices some papers on the changing table.

It is an official "Name Change" form.

New Name: Matthew Drew Buchanan.

Bo can't believe what he is reading. He smiles and wipes away a tear.

Bo: Nora, what is this all about?

Nora: Where did you find that? I have to file that in court on Monday. I hope it's okay with you.

Bo: Of course it's okay. It's wonderful. Thank you so much.

Nora: Well he deserves his father's name.

Bo: And Drew's. Thank you Red.

Bo pulls Nora to him and kisses her gently and warmly. Just as things get more passionate, the doorbell rings.

B&N: Pizza!

Nora: I'll get the root beer!

PART FOUR

Three months later Bo and Nora are regularly attending marriage counseling. Matthew is now nine months old and totally in love with his Daddy.

Bo is upstairs and Matthew is at Asa and Renee's for the night.

Bo is arranging flowers and candles in the bathroom.

A warm glow and the scent of roses fill the air of their huge bath.

Bo is looking for just the right CD to play to set the mood.

Nora: Bo! I'm home! Where are you?

Bo: I'm up here honey - join me in the bathroom.

Nora: Bo, what's going on...Oh my god Bo, it's beautiful. Everything is beautiful!

Bo: Nora, you are going to be treated to a night of relaxation and fun. To start, you are going to get a massage, then some champagne, then hamburgers and fries for dinner, THEN a shower for two!

Nora: Oh my! Who's joining me? That cute Swedish masseuse Sven from Serenity Springs? She says laughing.

Bo: Very funny wiseguy. Me..I'm the masseuse and your dinner and shower partner. Are you disappointed?

Nora: No way. She grabs his face and gives him a kiss.

Nora: Wait a minute. Where's our son?

Bo: Asa and Renee have him for the night. You are all mine tonight.

Bo takes Nora by the hand and leads her to the bedroom.

The bedroom is equally beautiful with flowers and a warm fire is going.

Bo: Okay, undress.

Nora: Excuse me?

Bo: Time for your massage.

Nora: Why do I have to take my clothes off?

Bo: Well, the Bo Buchanan massage requires both participates to be naked.

Nora (Laughing): Oh really. Isn't that illegal?

Bo: Not between a husband and wife.

Bo and Nora fall to the floor laughing. Bo begins the massage, while they drink champagne and relax in the fire light.

Bo: I think we should have dinner later. I'm ready for a hot shower, are you?

Nora: Mmm...absolutely? That was wonderful Bo. You can give me a massage anytime.

They get up, put on their robes, and head to the bathroom.

Their shower has lots of jets at every angle, has built-in lighting, and is cozy enough for two.

Bo starts the shower, Nora steps in and Bo turns on the music.

"Just You and Me"* by Delbert McClinton starts to play and Bo joins Nora in the hot steam and water.

They embrace and kiss passionately - as if trying to make up for all the lost time.....

Nora: I love you Bo Buchanan

Bo: I love you too Nora Buchanan

THE END

*Read here for great lyrics to this perfect song for Bo and Nora. I wish you all could hear this. I think it's a loving song. It's fun - it's not a slow song. I only know it because I am a huge fan of Delbert McClinton. I love it. PS...It sounds better with music, than just reading the lyrics.

For those who are interested, it's from a 1993 self-titled album.

Here goes....

Just you and me babe, that's what's on my mind

I'm taking no more chances with this love I've found, oh we got it made baby oooh for the very first time, just you and me baby for the rest of our lives.

Chorus

No more chasin' love around, in and out of every door. Now I'm gonna stop with the one I've found, I ain't gonna do it no more.

You make it all so real, you make it all so right, oh you take the chill from a lonely night, oh we've got it made for the very first time, just you and me baby, for the rest of our lives.

Repeat Chorus

No more chasin' love around, in and out of every door. Now I'm gonna stop with the one I've found, I ain't gonna do it no more.

You make it all so real, you make it all so right, oh you take the chill from a lonely night, oh we've got it made ooooh for the very first time, just you and me baby, for the rest of our lives.........
