Some Risks are Worth Taking

The Voice of the Night = italics

What are you waiting for? Call her. The worst she can say is “no” and the best, well that’s something you need to find out for yourself. They say that time heals most wounds and that love is lovelier the second time around. So take it from one who knows, there’s no time like the present. Call her. She’s waiting.

Bo turned off his computer and leaned back in his chair. Was Nora waiting for his call? The last few weeks of working around the clock with her had been exciting. It brought back so many memories of “good times” they had shared working on a case. Today had been such a let down knowing the case was now closed even if they had won. He missed her already.

Quietly Nora opened the front door and entered her house. She didn’t want to wake Matthew so she removed her shoes, flipped on the radio and set the volume down low and laid down on the couch, staring at the ceiling. It had been one hell of a case and she was so relieved that it was over…or was she? The weeks of gathering evidence, interviewing and putting together the puzzle played over and over in her mind and she was unable to let go. If she were being honest she’d have to say that they had been the best few weeks she could remember in a very long time. Had Bo thought so too? There were times she could see the fire in his eyes and the flush of his cheeks that made her think that he was just as excited as she was. He had hugged her back at his office as they celebrated their victory. Sometimes their closeness was almost too much to bear.

It’s a risk to reach out to that special someone not knowing how they will respond and it takes courage to take the first step to find out if the passion and love is still there. But if you don’t take the leap, you only lose precious time wondering what could be. And haven’t you wasted enough time?

Both Bo and Nora looked at their radios, deep in thought as the next song played

Oh, my love
My darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time

Time goes by
So slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine

I need your love
I need your love
God, speed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea
To the sea
To the open arms of the sea

Lonely rivers sigh
Wait for me
Wait for me
I'll be coming home
Wait for me

Oh, my love
My darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time

And time goes by
So slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine

I need your love
I need your love
God, speed your love to me

Bo reached for the phone and dialed Nora’s number
Hi Bo
You knew it was me?
I knew
I can’t stop thinking about you.
Me neither
I have to see you
I’m here….waiting for you.

As Bo opened the front door Nora flew into his arms. They exchanged a kiss so passionate that both of them felt their knees buckling. Before long they were on the couch, gasping and groping, ripping at each others clothes, making love in the true sense of the word.

Bodies entwined and eyes closed, they lay together in the afterglow, with no regrets.

Some couples are meant to be together, partners in all that life throws their way. They become one as they meet their challenges head on. 'I' becomes 'we' and 'my' becomes 'our'. In good times and in bad, till death do us part.

Bo raised himself up to look at Nora

Red?
Hummm? (smiling at the sound of that name)
The “voice” is talking to us
I know. Bo, would you have called me anyway? I mean without the “voice”.
I think so. I’ve been thinking about you since you left my office earlier.
What were you thinking?
About how much I missed you
And…
How much I wanted to see you
And…
How much I love you
And…
How much I want you back in my life again
And…
How much I love you
You said that
And I’ll say it again… I love you Red
Oh God help me, I love you too Bo.
