Stuck with You

Nora ranted as she was shown into the secluded room, “This is ridiculous, there is no reason for me to be here..Do you have any idea how many cases I have on my desk to take care of?” She slammed her hands against the door as it was closed in her face. Shaking her head, “Of all the stupid things..”

“It could be worse…” His voice came out of nowhere, of course he wasn’t really there, she knew that, it just seemed that he was everywhere she was lately, but they never seemed to get anywhere, they were never alone for long enough to accomplish anything, just long enough to make her realize she wished they had more time alone together, wished he felt the way she did, wished it had all been different… “Want a piece, they were considerate enough to let me order Sal’s?”

She turned then to see him offering her a piece of pizza, he was really there. “Bo,” she walked over to him, taking the offered piece of pizza taking a bite, swallowing, “What the hell are we doing here?”

He laughed, “Well it seems that a few of us have been exposed to an airborne virus that is highly contagious, that’s about all I was told before they shoved a needle in me and stuck me in here.”

“YOU were okay with that,” she stared at him in disbelief.

“Well, they don’t exactly give you a lot of choice.”

“You seem so calm.”

He shrugged his shoulders, “I have pizza and beer, the company’s decent, been better than most of my dinner’s lately.”

A slight blush rose to her cheeks at the offhanded compliment. “Bo, what about Matthew.”

“He’ll be fine, he was staying at Asa’s tonight anyway, and we should be out of here before I was supposed to pick him up.”

“He was going to stay at Asa’s tonight?”

Bo looked at Nora, “Is that a problem?”

“No, no of course not, it’s just, well why didn’t you tell me.”

“I never had a chance to be honest. Matthew called and asked me about 15 minutes before I was hauled in here.” He saw the wheels spinning in her head, “Nora, what’s goin on in that head of yours?”

She stood up and started pacing, “He doesn’t listen to a word we say, I told him this was not the way to get us together, you told him this wasn’t the way…”

He stood up, in front of her, stopping her pacing, “Nora, you think Matthew is behind this?” He laughed spreading his arms around the room, “He’s only 8, I think this is a little out of his capabilities, don’t you?”

“Matthew’s yes, Grandpa Asa’s No.” They locked eyes then.

He looked at her, ‘Nora’s the only woman for you son.’ Smacking his forehead, “I can’t believe I didn’t think of it. I’ll kill him.”

She laughed nervously, “He always did want us back together, probably as much as Matthew does now.”

“He said you were the only woman for me.”

“Well you’ve been saying he’s a little off lately, that’s just one more point in that favor.”

“No, no that may be the most lucid thing he has said recently.” He took a step closer to her.

She swallowed, “What do you mean?”

“I mean,” he leaned close then, slowly brushing his lips across hers, it was a gentle kiss, that was deepened until they had to come up for air. They were holding each other close, breathing heavily, as he whispered in her air, “I think we need to talk.”

She pushed away from him then, walking towards the wall, holding her emotions in check, facing opposite him. “Bo it’s okay, I mean we just got caught up…”

“Stop, Nora, please.” He went over to the opposite wall, “This is the first time we have been alone together, since, well since before Matthew was born. Their have been other people there, maybe not physically, but they were their mentally, and right now it’s just the two of us, in this room all alone, no Asa, no Matthew, no Daniel”

“No Eve,” she added.

He laughed, “Nora, please don’t insult yourself, there never was an Eve.”

“But….”

“No buts, you were adamant that we were just friends every time we talked to Matthew, I took that to heart.”

“So were you,”

“I was with Gabrielle, she wasn’t you, but she was safe.”

“Safe?”

“Nora, I told you once the only person who could hurt me was you, you remember..”

She nodded, “And I did..”

He nodded, “Yeah you did, but with the power to hurt was the power to heal, and unfortunately, you’re the only one with that power too.”

“Bo, I don’t even remember that time of our lives, in some ways I’m glad because I can’t imagine the pain I caused you and I know that as hurt as you were, I must have been too.”

“You were, and you were pregnant,” He hesitated, “ With my son, our son.”

She walked over to him then, gently putting her hand on his face, “It’s in the past we can’t change it,”

“No, we can’t, but we can change what happens from here.”

“Yes.”

“So you and Daniel?”

She smiled, “Jealous?”

“Red, in case you haven’t figured it out, I’m jealous of every man who talks to you, and Daniel has a serious thing for you.”

“Bo, he’s my boss.”

“As if Coulson cares.”

“I only have eyes for one guy,” Bo smiled, “he’s 8, a real charmer, a naughty twinkle, reminds me of his dad, and he’s stubborn really goes after what he wants, although this little deed is gonna get him grounded for about a month.”

Bo laughed, “He’s not grounded.”

“How can you say that, he got Asa to help him manipulate us, after we specifically told him no.”

“Nora, we both know actions speak louder than words, and every time he’s pulled his little stunts we both have gone along with him, face it, you wanted to spend time with me,” he paused “I wanted to spend time with you and our son gave us a way to do that without making us admit it to ourselves.” She smiled as he took her hand and brought it to his lips. “So let’s get back to the father? How do you feel about him.”

“The father?” She swallowed, looking into his eyes, into his soul, she took a deep breath, “He’s the one.”

“The one?”

She nodded, “My soul mate, the other half of me, my heart, even if its not enough to make it work, I can’t change it.”

He walked closer to her, so their breath was intermingled, “What do you see in your future?”

She shrugged, “I don’t know.”

“Do you want to try?”

“Try?”

“When I met you I thought I would never feel like that about anyone again, and you completed me in a way I never felt before. We had some great times, really really great times, and we had some bad times, but the fact still remains, that I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you, I never will.”

She caught his use of the present tense, “Love?”

He simply nodded, “Love, so what do you say Red, should we give it another try, be the family we dreamed of…”

“Really, this is what you really want?”

“Only if you do.”

She wrapped her arms around him then, “I love you Bo Buchanan.”

The End!
