Deep in the Heart of Texas - Part 4
*Previously .Bo and Nora talked, while the tensions were building.
The next few days were spent with Bo going over ranch business with Asa, while Nora spent her time reading, relaxing by the pool, and walking the grounds.
One night, after dinner, Bo heard giggling and talking coming from the pool. He looked out his window and saw Nora in the pool talking to one of the ranch hands, Jack.
Bo walked to the pool area.
B: What's going on here? Jack, don't you have work to do?
J: Yes, sir. I was just getting to know Miss Nora.
Nora was floating around the pool on a raft. She had had some wine and was feeling bold.
B: Well, you're here to work the nightshift, I suggest you get back to work.
J: Yes, sir. It was a pleasure, Miss Nora.
N: Bye, Jack. (She smiled and waved to him) Uh, we're divorced. You do remember that don't you, Bo?
Bo was trying to keep his emotions in check.
B: You don't have to go around flaunting it.
N: Flaunting it! Flaunting it! Maybe I learned from you?
She jumped off the raft and got out of the pool. Bo tried hard not to notice her and he tried to keep his eyes locked with hers. He handed her a towel, which she grabbed, out of his hand.
B: That's cold, Nora.
N: What's the matter, you don't like a taste of your own medicine?
B: What are you talking about?
N: Two words - Lindsay and Melanie! That's what I'm talking about!
B: What about you with Sam? You had a nevermind.
N: Go ahead, say it! I had a child with him. Yes, I did. I may regret how it happened, but I don't regret having my son.
B: I'm sorry. That's not what I meant.
N: Then what did you mean?
B: I don't know!, all right? Forget it. You're right. You are a free woman. I should just butt out.
N: Bo, you are just so infuriating!!!! Do you know that? Say what you feel, please! And don't say you don't know. It's a cop out.
Bo shakes his head and laughs. He sits down on the edge of the pool and puts his legs in the cool water. The Texas night air is so hot and muggy, that Nora is practically dried off. She sits down next to him, their shoulders touching as they splashed their legs in the water like little kids.
B: You're not going to like it.
N: I'm a big girl. I think I can handle it. Besides, we've been through so much together, how bad can it be?
B: I don't want to hurt you again.
N: The suspense is killing me! (She says with a laugh)
B: All right, here goes. Look, to be honest, I had not thought about you or our past life together since I left Llanview those many months ago. I came down here to try to change my way of life and it included not getting involved with women. Which, as hard as you may find that to believe, I have stuck to. So now here you come waltzing in here and it's been like the first time I saw you. You're here to help me, like when we first met. You're just this big ball of feisty energy that I can't control. You're so appealing and you don't even know it. The guys around here have been fumbling over themselves trying to get to you. I've seen them, but you don't notice it. If anyone deserves to have a normal, healthy relationship, it's you. Yet, you're concerned about me.
N: What are you getting at, Bo?
B: It's just ..I I'm confused. I don't want to be feeling the way I'm feeling about you right now.
N: Why not?
Bo is startled by her reaction.
B: Why not? Uh, for a variety of reasons, I guess.
N: Such as?
B: You don't give up, do you?
N: Not on you, I don't.
B: I don't want to hurt you again. And I don't want to be hurt again. I don't plan to go back to Llanview, so what would that mean to you if we were to resume our relationship? I want to be able to love you with all my heart and soul, but I don't know if I still have it in me.
Nora threw her arms around his neck and kissed him so passionately that they fell into the pool. After coming up from underwater, they continued their passion. They couldn't get enough of one another. Nora tried to pull off Bo's soaking wet T-shirt; she needed to feel his skin next to hers. Bo's hands ran up and down her smooth, wet bathing suit.
Nora started to pull away first, but Bo's grip on her would not loosen.
N: Bo, we can't do this ..here. (She pushed his wet hair back and traced his face with her finger)
Bo was caught up in the moment and instinctively bent to kiss her neck. Nora closed her eyes and threw her head to the side as she felt his lips run along her neck. She threw her legs around his waist and he held her up as he continued down to her chest.
N: Let's go to my room.
She finally broke free of him, swam to the steps, and got out of the pool. She stood there seductively and waited for him to catch up to her. He had never moved so fast in his life! She reached for his hand. He immediately grabbed her and started to kiss her again. He was like a man possessed! They toweled each other off and quietly walked to Nora's room carefully checking at each turn to make sure they would not run into Asa.
After agreeing that they both smelled like chlorine, they decided to share a shower together.
Bo was nervous. It had been so long since they were intimate together. He couldn't believe he was having second thoughts. Nora sensed his hesitance. She was hesitant too. She wondered if she should risk her emotions being torn to hell for a night of passion.
N: Bo
B: No, it's okay. I know what you're going to say and you're right. We shouldn't do this. I'll see you in the morning.
He left her room before she could change her mind.
'Was she crazy?' 'Why couldn't she just have a one-night fling with him?' She knew why .because she would fall hard for him. It wasn't easy to love him and leave him. That much she knew from experience. But at least he was feeling the same way about her as she was about him. His words that he would not come back to Llanview ran through her mind. How could they make it work? She stepped into her shower and let the hot water and steam fill the enclosed area. Her mind began to think of a plan. She would tell him in the morning.
Meanwhile, Bo stepped into his shower, his hands never touching the hot water handle. He jumped at the cold hitting his body. It was quite a shock after being so hot. That amazing feeling brought on by just one woman. He didn't even offer her a chance to say no! He just assumed. 'Damn fool,' he shouted. But deep in his heart he knew he was right .he couldn't have taken advantage of her. They both did the right thing.
After finishing in the bathroom, Bo leaned against the common wall their rooms shared. He tried to hear if she was still awake. He heard the low strains of her TV. He settled in his bed for what was to be a restless evening.
