Deep in the Heart of Texas
*Previously….Bo and Nora talked and almost let their desires take control.
The next morning Bo awoke early and decided he needed to talk to Nora as soon as possible. He thought he would bring her breakfast in bed. Steadily, with tray in hands, he walked to her room. Asa spotted him.
A: Way to go, son.
B: Ahhh, put in sock in it, pa. It’s not what you think.
Asa was disappointed.
A: Let’s work on that, okay?
Bo ignored him and knocked on Nora’s door.
B: Nora, are you awake?
N: Jack?
B: Ha, ha, very funny. Open up. I’ve got breakfast. I think we need to talk.
Nora opened the door. She was wearing a red silk teddy.
‘Hi’ was all she said as she snatched a piece of bacon off the tray. All Bo was concerned about was getting the tray down without spilling anything. He almost tripped coming through the door after seeing her in that thing.
B: Good morning. Sleep well?
N: Yeah, really well. You?
B: Not a wink.
N: That’s too bad. I wonder why.
B: Like you don’t know. Can I just say you look incredible? It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you in the morning.
N: Thank you.
They slowly walked toward each other. Bo opened his arms and she stepped into place. They kissed for what felt like forever.
B: Nora, you do know I can’t go on like this. I want you. I need you.
N: I feel the same way.
Nora opened the French doors that stepped out onto a small balcony off her room. They each took some coffee and food and sat down.
B: So, what do we do about our situation?
N: Well, I thought about it and here’s my idea. It’s a take it or leave it offer. If we don’t go through with it, I guess we’ll both have to live with a “what might have been” life.
B: I don’t think I like the sound of this. But, go ahead – let’s hear it.
N: Okay. I will stay here for another week as I told Asa I would. Then I go to Chicago to pick up Matthew and from there, we head back to Llanview. I will finish up things at my office and then Matthew and I will join you here for the rest of the summer. However, when summer is over, you have to come back to Llanview with us. Now, hopefully, if things all work out and we stay together, maybe you can get your job back at the department or work for Buchanan Enterprises again or something.
Bo looked at her like she was crazy.
B: I really love the thought of you and Matt being here with me for the summer, but I really didn’t want to go back to Llanview.
N: Why, Bo? Your friends are there. Your father is there. The PD has been in a complete shambles since you left. I know the Mayor would love to have you come back. And best of all, I’m there. (They kiss)
B: But why won’t you stay here with me? It would be a great learning experience for Matthew. They have great schools here.
N: What would I do? I’m not cut out to be a rancher’s wife. I agree we could come here for vacations. I’ve only been here for a week and I love it. But, Matthew is just forming some of his first friendships and I don’t want to take that away from him. I’m sorry, Bo, that is my offer.
B: I need time to think about it. Okay?
N: Well, you’ve got one week. Is there anything I can do to help convince you? (She smiled at him mischievously)
B: Now that would be soooooo unfair. You wouldn’t do that to me, would you?
Nora jumped up and ran back in her room. Bo soon heard the rushing water and the jets of her hot tub starting up.
B: Yes, you would.
Bo followed her to the bathroom and found her teddy in the sink and Nora in the tub. This time they would not turn each other away. The attraction was too great. They latched onto each other and kissed without reserve. The bubbles rushed all around them. Their hands traveled all over each other’s bodies. It was like they never parted. They got reacquainted with each other and it seemed familiar, yet new and exciting.
Bo couldn’t take it anymore. He pulled her out of the tub, both of them dripping wet and hot from the water and they made their way to her bed. They spent most of the morning making love to each other and falling in love all over again at the same time.
Nora woke up first. She turned to look at Bo and saw his feet. She peeked under the sheet and there he was….his head at the other end practically falling off the bed. She tickled his feet with her nails and he jumped. She giggled at his response. He reciprocated by kissing her big toe.
Bo turned himself around to face her at the head of the bed.
N: Hi.
B: Now, you have really sexy feet, but I’d love to kiss you here instead. (He traced her lips with his finger)
N: I wish you would.
Bo obliged to her wishes. He kissed her tenderly and slow. Nora pulled herself close to him, hugging him tightly as if she couldn’t get enough. Their lips were just inches apart when Bo spoke.
B: I don’t know about you, but my lips are sore!
Nora threw her head back and laughed.
N: Well, it was for a good cause, don’t ya think?
Bo laughed softly.
B: That, my dear, is an understatement.
He ran his fingers through her tousled hair. She ran her nails along his back, the both of them playing “footsie” with each other.
N: Bo, was it always this good?
He cleared his throat.
B (proudly): I’d like to think so.
Nora was continuing to stroke his ego.
N: How did I ever live without you? (She asked, playfully)
B: Red, it takes two. (Kiss) Believe me, you are incredibly beautiful and desirable and sexy that I just want to pleasure you all I can. Oh and I can’t leave out that you are unbelievably smart and funny.
She kissed him firmly.
B (feigning injury and touching his lips): Owww, my lips, my lips.
N: Come with me!
She pulls him out of bed, reluctantly, and into her bathroom. She puts on her robe and hands him one.
B: What are you doing?
N: I want to shave your mustache off!
B: I thought you liked it.
N: I do, but you have nothing to hide anymore.
Bo grabbed her around her waist and pulled her to him and they kissed.
B: You’re right, I don’t. I think I’m falling in love with you.
N: Think? Hmph! I don’t have to think about my feelings for you. I never stopped loving you, Bo. I want you to know that.
B: Even through all the hard times?
N: Yes, even through all the hard times, the anger, the sadness, everything. You will always be a part of my soul.
B: Oh, Nora, you really are amazing. I do love you. More than I can express.
N: I think we both did pretty good.
B (laughing): I think you’re right! Are you sure I can’t change your mind about keeping my mustache?
N: I’m sure. You can always grow it back later.
Nora started to look for her razor and shaving cream.
B: You’re not touching my face with that stuff. It’s for girls!
N: Oh come on! It’s the same thing.
B: Uh-uh, no deal.
N: Well, go get your razor then.
B: What time is it anyway?
N: 2:00
B: Oh man, time flies when you’re having fun. Pa and Dody must be wondering where I am. Although, pa saw me coming into your room this morning. I guess he figured it out.
N: Are you gonna let me shave you?
B: I want my stuff.
N: Fine, then go get it you baby!
Bo left her room to go next door to get his shaving kit. He handed Nora the bag and she was getting all excited. Bo was scared.
B: Be gentle.
She lathered up his face and shaved him perfectly – not one nick or cut. Bo was impressed. After that, they finally shared a shower together, staying in there for well over an hour. By the time they were finished getting reacquainted, it was dark out.
They spent the next few days inseparable. They hung out in the den dancing to all the oldies on the jukebox and playing games and making love, they spent many hours using the pool and the hot tubs in the house and making love, they walked the property and made love, they went horseback riding and made love, they hit the miniature golf course and made love behind the windmill, etc.
Asa was so pleased and well aware of what was going on. His planned had worked.
Finally, the day came they both were dreading. Nora had to leave for Chicago.
B: How am I going to live without you until you return?
She kissed him.
N: You will. But, I’ll be back here before you know it.
B: Maybe I should come with you. I’d love to see your parents and Rachel.
Nora laughed.
N: Well, I’m sure that you would be a big surprise for them, but I need to do this on my own.
B: All right, but how long will it take you to get back here?
N: I don’t know, honey. I’ve got a ton of stuff for work to wrap up and packing and stuff. Maybe a month?
B: A month?!? I definitely know I can’t survive without you for that long.
N: Bo, look at how long we “survived” until we got to this point. A month should be easy! These last two weeks have been a whirlwind!
B: I guess you’re right. For me though it seems as if we never parted. Everything has fallen back into place. I hope you feel the same way.
N: Oh, I do, believe me.
In the background, Asa’s pilot was motioning to his watch.
B: Well, Red, I guess this is goodbye for now. I want you to call me the minute you land in Chicago, then call me the minute you land in Llanview. Okay? God, I love you.
N: I love you too. And thank you for everything!
B: This has been a life changing experience, hasn’t it? All for the better. I miss you already.
N: It’s been incredible. I am so happy.
Bo walked her into the jet. They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed almost like they would never see each other again. Nora started to cry.
B: Oh jeez, Red, don’t cry or I’ll start to cry.
Bo wiped away her tears, broke free, and turned to leave.
N: I love you.
B: Right back at ya, kid. It’s only a month, right?
N: Right – a month!! Bye.
She returned to Texas about a month later with Matthew in tow. The three of them enjoyed their time together at the ranch. Bo and Matthew got to know each other even better. Matthew loved the place.
Bo agreed to go back to Llanview. They remarried, bought a new house, and they opened a detective agency together – The B&N Detective Agency, which they ran out of the house.
They started proceedings for Bo to adopt Matthew and in the middle of all that Sam was killed by a disgruntled guitar student he was teaching (too bad-not).
Nine months to the day of their second marriage, Rebecca Kathleen Buchanan was born (hee hee) and they couldn’t have been more thrilled or delighted.
The four of them lived happily ever after.
Oh, and Asa and Renee reconciled as well and remarried – again.
Now wasn’t that easy? LOL!!
