Powell calls Marty because he is worried about Nora. Marty says she’ll look into it.
S: Nora forced Bo’s car off the road?
V: Yeah. And she didn’t remember it. Apparently she had blacked out and lost control of the car. I gather she only put all these facts together during the past few days.
S: It’s amazing. Bo, how’s Bo taking this news?
V: I just came from him. He is shattered. I think they both are.
B: Would you please just...Nora, don’t you dare walk away! Why, why? So you can run away again?
N: I didn’t run away! I didn’t know I caused an accident, and I woke up...
B: No, I’m not talking about Thanksgiving. I’m talking about you packing all your stuff and leaving our house today. (grabs her) Listen, you may think that you can just keep running, but there’s no way you’re going to get away from this nightmare, so why don’t you just stay and let’s talk about it.
N: Please let me go. I shouldn’t have come here to Sarah’s grave, me of all people.
B: I am not! You’re the last person I ever expected to find here, but I came here looking for some answers. I’m not letting you go until I find them.
M: Is she sick or something?
P: I don’t know, I don’t think so, but when she came to see me, she was really upset about something, she was talking about wanting to be forgiven, and then she said she didn’t know whether she was going to be able to confess...
M: Nora, what does she have to confess?
P: I couldn’t get her to tell me. She’s so upset- she scared me, Marty. And I couldn’t do anything to help her, after all she’s done for me.
M: You know, I don’t see Nora that much.
P: I know, but- listen, being in this place, it’s really the pits, but it’d be so much worse, so much worse, Marty, if it weren’t for you and Nora. I owe the two of you an awful lot, only I can’t do anything to help Nora from here.
M: Well, what am I supposed to do? Look, I’m sorry, Powell, it’s just that this phone call...
P: I know. Probably the sound of my voice.
M: Yeah. It kind of got to me.
P: I’m sorry.
M: Look , I’ll try to find Nora, I’ll do whatever I can.
P: I really appreciate this, Marty.
M: Yeah, well, I haven’t done anything yet. And even if I find her, I don’t know what kind of help I’m going to be.
P: Well, thanks for trying. Goodbye.
M: Goodbye, Powell.

S: Don’t you think Bo should try to work this out with Nora?
V: Yes, of course I think that! But, I mean, it’s not up to me to know how much Bo can or cannot accept. I think it’s a bit arrogant of me, giving advice in a situation like this.
S: You’re just trying to help.
V: Yeah, but I don’t think I helped him very much. I really didn’t know what to say to him. You know, he loved Sarah so much.
S: Oh, dear. Well, I wish there were something we could do, it’s unfortunately on his shoulders.
V: I know, but I think he might need a friend. So if you don’t mind, I’m not going to stay here tonight, I’m going to stay at home in case he calls.
S: Ok. And if he does call...
V: I will call you right away.
S: Yeah, ok. I think about the time I thought I would never see you again...Oh, dear. Your life can be full of love and then it’s suddenly taken away from you, just suddenly disappears. There’s nothing quite so painful.

N: Ok, let go of me, I won’t go anywhere. I don’t know what answers you think I can give you.
B: I don’t know either. I don’t know what I’m thinking right now, I don’t know what I’m feeling, I don’t know much of anything. The only thing I do know, is I don’t know what we’re going to do. But maybe if we just talked, okay, if we just really talked together, right now, maybe we could work through this.
N: What’s the use?
B: Well, you don’t know that! There may be something that you haven’t even thought of.
N: Like what?
B: I don’t know, maybe some kind of a something that could shoot that so called irrefutable evidence of yours right out of the water.
N: Sure.
B: It’s possible.
N: No.
B: There’s always a possibility, listen to me, that you did not cause the accident, please, don’t shake your head!
N: I have dealt with every possibility. Do you think I’m jumping to conclusions out of, what, out of guilt, out of some, some desire to ruin my life? Bo, I’ve been over and over and over every detail.
B: Yeah, but it still doesn’t make any sense to me. How could you force us off a major highway, over a bridge and right into the Llantano River and not even know about it?
N: This isn’t going to work.
B: What isn’t?
N: I remember the look in your eyes when I told you what I’d done.
B: No, no, what you think you’ve...
N: I will never, ever forget that look, it’s just burned into my brain. And now...
B: And now what?
N: You believe it. You believe I killed Sarah. And you would give anything in the world for it not to be, so would I. I would love to find that loophole, that thing that would prove this whole thing is just a sad, sad mistake. But it’s true. It is. I’m sorry, I should never have come here, this is your place. Yours and...Sarah’s. You and I have to find a way to live though this and put our lives back together separately.
Marty talks to Andrew about Nora. She is wondering what is wrong.
B: You’re the one that wanted to get out of here, so why don’t you do it? Go on. You made the unilateral decision. You determined that we don’t really belong together. You figured it all out. You’re the one that packed up and moved out of the house. So what are you still doing here?
N: What else could I have possibly done, Bo?
B: I don’t know. (pause) I don’t know, I know how- I know that I almost died when you told me you caused the accident.
N: That’s why...
B: But it doesn’t help for you to just drop out of my life now.
N: How could I possibly stay? Everything has changed between us.
B: No, no, not everything. I still love you, I do, I still love you and I know that you still love me. The only thing that I don’t really know is what we’re going to do about it. Some things, some things really are forever, but some things...So where do we go from here? Isn’t there some way, some way in the world that we can work through this?
N: You’re right, Bo. Nothing has changed in the way I feel about you. That will never change. But everything else, every other thing has changed. How can we ever live in peace together?
B: No, Nora, please, just...
N: No, months ago, I stood here and I watched you almost die from grief. You were so devastated at the loss of Sarah, you didn’t know how to go through the rest of your life except to find the driver of the car that killed Sarah.
B: Listen, I don’t need to hear this, come on...
N: Yes, you do! Yes, you do. We worked side by side for months, trying to find the monster who forced your car off the road. Our work paid off. We found her. I’m the monster, Bo. Look at me. All right, Bo, I need the truth now. Can you honestly tell me that you could ever, ever live with what I did? Could you ever forgive me?
N: So much for forgiveness.
B: It’s not a question of me forgiving you, Nora.
N: Then what is it?
B: Look, I know that you didn’t intend to hurt Sarah, you weren’t even conscious, you didn’t even know that it had happened.
N: That’s when you’re rational.
B: Right.
N: And how do you feel?
B: You’re right. Everything has changed. Do you remember me saying to you that if I could just find the person that caused Sarah’s death, then maybe, maybe I could make some sense of it all and then I could go on with my life?
N: And here I am.
B: And here you are. Yeah. The woman that I love. And every time I look at you...It doesn’t matter how much my mind wants me to say that it’s not your fault, I know that I’d always hold you responsible for Sarah’s death.
N: Well, I can’t blame you, you know, I mean, how else could you....All the love in the world just can’t get over that hurdle.
B: But can it?
N: You know it can’t. I love you. Goodbye.

Bo is sitting alone. Doorbell.
A: Bo? Bo, it’s Andrew, are you there, can I please come in? (Bo opens door) Hi. So, did you find Nora?
B: I found her.
A: And?
B: And nothing. It’s over, it’s just over. Look, I’m tired, Andrew, so...(he shuts door) I tried what you told me to do, I gave it my best shot.
A: Look, I won’t take too much of your time, just tell me, is there anything that I can do to help?
B: Maybe you could rewind that big tape recorder in the sky and cut out Sarah and me going off the bridge, Nora blacking out, none of the three of us being on Airport Road that night.
A: I’m sorry, Bo, it’s just way out of my jurisdiction.
B: Then no, Andrew, I’m sorry. Thanks. There’s nothing you can do.(he leaves)

Nora finds a note from Rachel.
N: (reading) Mom, I know you need to be alone, so I’m at Dad’s for the night, if you need company, call me and I’ll be right over. Love, Rachel. Thank you, baby, I didn’t want you to see me like this. (Marty walks in open door)
M: I’m sorry, oh... Powell called and he told me you were upset, and he was worried about you and he just wanted me to check on you. Um, do you want to tell me what happened, why you’re so upset? (Nora laughs) Oh, it’s okay, you don’t have to, I mean, if you don’t want to...I’ll go, I can go, whatever you say.
N: No, you stay. You stay. You know what I used to think about you? I used to think that you were the worst kind of criminal, remember that?
M: Yeah, you thought I was the hit and run driver.
N: I really hate that, you know. I mean, talking about not owning up to your actions, destroying lives without consequences, I thought you were just the kind of person who would cause a fatal accident and then just walk away. But you know what the hoot is? The person who caused that accident that I thought you were responsible for, it was me.
M: What?
N: That’s right, that’s right, all along, it was me. I did it. And in the process I destroyed three lives, you’re lucky, I could have ruined your life too while I was at it. See, Sarah lost her life, Bo lost the woman he loved, and me, I lost everything!

Bo is dreaming that he is asleep on the couch.
N: Bo, Bo, wake up, wake up. I’ve got great news. I was wrong, I was wrong, after all that hard work, I was wrong. Can you beat that? It wasn’t me who forced you and Sarah off the road, it wasn’t me, it was just, it was all some horrible, huge, stupid mistake. It was a mistake, Bo, it was a mistake... (they hug)
Bo wakes up.
B: Oh, God. Oh, God, it can’t be true. Don’t let it be true.

M: You know, these past few months, I’ve had what you could call a crash course in forgiveness. It wasn’t a big thing in my past, so I really didn’t know what to do with it. I never thought that I’d be able to forgive Powell for what he did to me, but when I saw what kind of price he was paying, I could make peace with it somehow, you know?
N: There’s a very big difference.
M: Yes, there is. Bo loves you. Why shouldn’t he be able to get over this, in time? I mean, you blacked out, you didn’t mean to drive them off the road!
N: It really doesn’t matter, you know. It’s not what I intended, it’s not what I meant to do. It doesn’t matter, the end result is all the same, I did it. That’s always going to stand between me and Bo.
M: What are you going to do?
N: I’m going to throw myself into my work, and I’m going to forget. I’m going to try and forget Bo, and I’m just going to stick to business, you know, strictly-
M: What? What’s wrong?
N: I’m going to throw myself in my work, oh, yeah, sure...
M: What’s the problem?
N: I’ve got a business meeting tomorrow morning with a station manager from out of town, and Bo.
M: What are you going to do?
N: I don’t know what I’m going todo. I love him very much, but right now I would give anything if I never had to face him again.

September 30, 1993

Nora and the station manager (C) are sitting in the Palace.
C: Ten after nine and still no sign of Mr. Buchanan. I don’t like to be kept waiting.
N: I’m very sorry, Mr. Cutler. Bo has a lot to deal with right now.
C: You know, I didn't fly up here from Shreveport to have breakfast in a nice restaurant. I came to sign on as an affiliate, and I was expecting a little better treatment than this. Ms. Gannon!
N: Yes?
C: Is there some place else you’d rather be?
N: No, of course not. Actually, Mr. Cutler, why don’t we go ahead and start without Bo. I have a feeling he won’t be joining us this morning.
C: Meaning what? That he’s too busy to see me?
N: No, no, I think he may be indisposed.
Bo is laying on his couch. He remembers Nora telling him it was her. The phone rings.
B: Hello?
C: Bo Buchanan, please.
B: Speaking.
C: Mr. Buchanan, this is Dan Cutler from WSP. Did you forget about our breakfast meeting?
B: Uh, no, sorry, is that today?
C: Yes, it’s today. I’m at the Palace hotel with your lawyer.
B: Nora’s there?
C: Yes, she is. Are you coming or not?
B: Um, no, I’m sorry, I don’t think that’s going to be possible, I’m a little under the weather.
C: So I heard from Ms. Gannon. Unless you’re on your death bed, you’re making a major mistake. I think it’s in your best interest to attend this meeting.
C: They’ll have my check ready at the front desk. If Bo Buchanan is not here by the time I get back, I’ll assume that he was never really interested, and the deal’s off. (gets up)
R: Nora, is everything okay?
N: It could be better. I’m trying to sign on an affiliate for WVL, and it’s not going very well with the station manager.
R: Phew, that’s who that is, oh thank heavens. I was beginning to think that maybe Bo had something to be jealous about. Where is that man of yours today, anyway?
N: Um, I don’t think he’s feeling very well today.
R: Are you sure about that? (Bo walks in)
B: Hello, Renee.
R: Hello, sweetheart, how are you doing? Nora tells me you’re not feeling too well.
B: I’m okay.
R: Well, you look a little tired to me. Nora, I want you to take real good care of this man, because they don’t make them like this guy anymore. Love you.
B: You too.
R: Enjoy your meeting.
B: Hi.
N: Hi. I didn't think you were going to come.
B: Well, I had to. So, what do we do now?
Nora is tapping her fork against the table.
N: Would you like to order some breakfast?
B: No, no, I’m all right.
C: Mr. Buchanan, you decided to show.
B: Yes, I’m sorry to kept you waiting, I had a little bug.
C: Well, these things happen, I guess. The good news is that now that you’re here, we can go forward with the deal, right?
B: Yeah.
C: WSP is very eager to join your list of affiliates.
B: Well, I’m glad to hear that.
C: Are you? You know, you and your lawyer don’t seem half as excited about this as I am.
N: (snapping out of it) Oh, no, we are, we are, would you like to look over the contract?
C: Wait a minute. Now, the way I see it, this should be cause for a major celebration, not just a few half-hearted smiles. What is the matter with you two?
B: Mr. Cutler, I assure you that we are extremely happy to have you on board.
C: Well, you could have fooled me. For Pete’s sake, you’re both acting like you’re at a funeral!
C: Now, this package definitely includes Luna’s Love Line, doesn’t it? (no response) Bo.
B: What? Yes, of course it does, of course.
C: Good. I think she’s going to be a real hit for us. Now, let’s review the renumeration terms. What section is that, Ms. Gannon?
B: You’ll have to excuse me for a minute here.
C: Bo, we’re just getting into the terms.
B: Yeah, I know, I know, but...I’m going to visit the men’s room, you two go ahead without me. Nora knows...everything. She can speak for me.

A: Hey, Bo. Recognize this?
B: Should I?
A: My famous hangover cure. One sip does the trick. Guess what? I had to go to the bar and make it myself.
B: No kidding.
A: Since Renee took over this place, service is lousy and that so called butler of mine, he ran off on me.
B: Sounds like you got some real problems, you know. I feel for you. Excuse me.
A: Wait, hold it. You know that Cord is bringing Clint over to the house today. You’re going to be at the surprise party, right?
B: Surprise party, yes, of course I’ll be there.
A: Good. A little advice.
B: No, thank you.
A: Now here it is. Go home, get a little rest. You look awful.
B: Well thank you, pa. I feel awful. (walks away)
A: What the hell’s bugging him?

C: The important thing is that WSP is now an official affiliate of WVL.
B: And we couldn’t be happier.
C: Good. Smile, Ms. Gannon. You just made yourself a nice little piece of change.
N: (mumbles)
C: Goodbye.

B: Nora, will you just...
N: I’m really sorry...
B: No, go ahead.
N: I’m really sorry you had to come over here.
B: Nora...
N: I would have cancelled it, I just, I didn’t remember about this until late last night.
B: No, no, no, please, don’t apologize. Because this isn’t your fault, you know. Maybe I should have stayed at home, but that guy seemed...
N: Oh, no, don’t be ridiculous. You own this station. I’m the one who shouldn’t be here. I think it would be best if I arranged for another lawyer to take over my work at WVL.
B: You don’t have to do that.
N: Yes, I do. It will help us avoid any more situations like this.
B: I wish we...I wish. Well, whatever you say.
N: I just don’t think we should see each other.
B: Right. So long.
N: Bo, wait.
B: Yes?
N: One more thing. My books and my chair, I’ll make some phone calls, and make sure that I get them out of there as soon as I can.
B: Fine.
N: Okay. I’m sorry to have to drag this out. Anyway...I just don’t want this to be any more painful than it is.
B: Right.
N: I’m sorry. I love you very much, Bo. I never wanted it to end like this.
B: Me neither.

Bo walks into his house with Asa.
B: Why did you follow me back over here, I thought you had a meeting or something.
A: I did. It broke up early. I was worried about you. What’s your problem?
B: Pa, look, I told you before, I don’t want to talk about it, okay?
A: Why don’t you give your old man a chance, huh, maybe I can help.
B: Look, even all your power and all your influence could not help in this case, just trust me, all right? Now, if you don’t mind, why don’t you go on?
A: All right, if that’s the way you want it. You will be at Clint’s party, right?
B: Yeah, of course.
A: And by the way, if you like, you can bring Nora.
B: No. No, we’re not together anymore.
A: What do you mean, you’re not together?
B: I mean what I just said- it’s over!
A: Oh, so that’s what eating you. I don’t know what to say.
B: Well, that’s a first.
A: I am sorry.
B: Yeah, so am I.
A: She’s got a tongue like a razor, but she’s one smart cookie. You know, sometimes those women are hard to tie up, they’re a lot tougher than they should be for their own good.
B: Look, just don’t go bad mouthing her, okay, because she is the best thing that ever happened to me.
A: Oh, trust me, there are so many other women for a good man like you!
B: I don’t want any others, okay, I want Nora. She’s the one that gave me a reason to go on after Sarah died, she is the most important person in my life!
A: Bo, take it easy!
B: What do you mean, take it easy? My whole life just crashed down here.
A: Well, who knows, she may come back, some women run away for a while and then come crawling back.
B: You know what? I don’t want to hear any more of this.
A: Hell, I’m just trying to help!
B: You think I’m going to take advice about women from a guy who’s been married, like, seven times! Thank you, but no thank you! Now, once and for all, please, just leave me alone! (he leaves)

Nora is at her apartment. She remembers Bo telling her that he loves her, charm bracelet, date at Serenity in hot tub, a kiss, dress up, drive in, lying at Serenity, the first time they made love, her thinking that everything was perfect.
Bo is sitting on his couch remembering as well, them dancing with all the flowers and him telling her she’d never have to do without him.
Clint: Looks like you could use a friend.
B: Clint! (they hug)
